Conor McGregor continues to expand his footprint outside of the Octagon.
Over the years, the former two-division UFC champion has built a business empire that includes his Irish pub, Black Forge Inn, multiple real estate properties, the popular Proper No. 12 brand of Irish whiskey which sold to Proximo Spirits for a whopping $600 million in 2021, and a part ownership in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
The Irish megastar is now breaking into the music industry by launching Dublin’s first major record label appropriately named Greenback Records.
According to a report from Sunday World in Ireland, McGregor will partner with Richard Buck and Julian O’Brien on the project which is expected to be a “multi-genre” producer with artists earning a fair share of the profits and payouts that are “currently unheard of in the industry.”
“I am excited to create Ireland’s first major record label in an industry that I have had great interest in for some time,” McGregor said regarding the launch. “To be able to come in and offer music artists a fair deal and properly reward them for their talent.
“This industry, like others, has needed an overhaul for a long time. I am excited for myself, McGregor Sports & Entertainment, to partner with Richard and Julian as founders to bring Greenback Records to life!” (h/t MMA Fighting).
The label has reportedly signed numerous artists to the label, though no official announcements have been made.
Conor McGregor Remains Adamant He will fight in 2024
Despite all of his business ventures away from the fight game, Conor McGregor insists that he’ll return to the Octagon before 2024 comes to a close. Originally, he was scheduled to headline UFC 303 on June 29 against former Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler.
Unfortunately, the bout was scrapped after the Irishman suffered a broken pinky toe while training.
No rescheduled date has been announced, but McGregor insists the fight will go down before calendars switch over to 2025.
“My comeback is scheduled for the end of the year,” Conor McGregor told ESPN. “Sometime the end of this year, closing out the show. So, I was close to returning. We had an incident and a postement had to happen, you know, it is what it is. We take it on the chin and rock on.”

Conor McGregor has been back in the headlines this week as he hosted his first press conference as part-owner of BKFC ahead of the company’s scheduled event in Marbella, Spain later this year.
The former UFC two-weight world champion was scheduled to fight in the Octagon for the first time in three years at UFC 303 recently, but a foot injury put paid to those plans. Speaking at the BKFC press conference, the Irishman revealed that he only has two fights left on his current contract with the UFC and said that he has ambitions to test the waters inside the bareknuckle ring once those commitments are fulfilled.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at five intriguing options we would love to see “The Notorious” face in BKFC.
Nate Diaz
The rivalry between McGregor and Diaz has simply refused to go away ever since the pair first met inside the Octagon at UFC 196 back in 2016. Diaz took the fight on short notice as a replacement for McGregor’s original opponent Rafael Dos Anjos and shocked the world by handing the then-featherweight champion his first defeat in the UFC.
McGregor won an immediate rematch via majority decision just five months later and it seemed it would only be a matter of time before the pair would square off again. The rubber match never came, however, and Diaz fought out his UFC contract, finishing up with a submission victory over Tony Ferguson in September of 2022.
Although he failed to enter the title picture during his career inside the Octagon, Perry is now regarded as one of the biggest draws in combat sports outside the UFC.
Jorge Masvidal
“Gamebred” was a mainstay in the UFC’s lightweight and welterweight divisions between 2013-2023. He twice fought for the 170lb title against Kamaru Usman but was unsuccessful both times. After leaving the UFC (and temporarily retiring) in 2023 he recently made his first foray into the world of boxing when he faced Nate Diaz.
McGregor invited the former IBF and WBA welterweight boxing champion into his camp as a sparring partner in the lead up to his infamous boxing match against Floyd “Money” Mayweather back in 2017. After sharing multiple clips of McGregor knocking down Malignaggi during the workouts all over social media, tensions between the pair spiralled and rumors circulated that they would meet in a boxing match further down the line.
Malignaggi has carved out a career as a boxing commentator and analyst and has worked on BKFC events since his retirement from fighting. At 42-years-old, could we see him tempted into one more fight with his old rival?
After Nurmagomedov conclusively beat “The Notorious” at UFC 229 back in 2018 to claim the UFC lightweight championship, the Irishman campaigned tirelessly for a rematch. His disappointment at Khabib announcing his retirement just two years later was captured on camera during the filming of his documentary McGregor Forever, and the Dubliner has never missed an opportunity to berate Nurmagomedov when given the chance in the years that have passed.
Boulware is expected to deliver his decision next week. If he ultimately decides to sign off on the deal, McGregor will stand to bank $7 million from the deal — more than any of the other 1,200 fighters represented in the suit.
Still, McGregor is being massively underpaid due to a questionable arbitration clause that was added to his contract at some point. The compensation he’s set to receive is for illegally-suppressed wages from 2014-2017. In the three years that followed, ‘Mystic Mac’ faced Floyd Mayweather, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Donald Cerrone.
For those fights, he is only expected to pocket a flat fee of $3,000.
“There’s no way you get an amount that small if fighters didn’t sign waivers, the very top guys,” UFC antitrust case expert Josh Nash said on the Hey Not The Face podcast. “So, you’re asking, does Conor McGregor get the money? He should get about 10 percent of whatever he earned in the [2017-2020] period. But, it seems very likely that he might get the amount that all the people that signed the waiver get, which is $3,000” (h/t MMA Mania).
Conor McGregor could opt out of his arbitration clause
As it stands, the UFC may be going back to the negotiating table, or possibly a trial, after Judge Boulware seemingly suggested that the $335 figure simply isn’t enough.
The UFC was initially accused of stiffing fighters out of as much as $1.6 billion with treble damages pushing the punishment for that up to as much as $4.8 billion. If the case ends up going to a jury trial, it could be a situation of big risk and big reward for the fighters involved.
Meanwhile, McGregor could potentially opt out of the 2017-2020 class so he can use the arbitration clause in his favor.
“It would cost him a lot of money,” Nash said. “Hundreds of thousands of dollars — perhaps even millions. Because you’d have to hire your own experts and do all the analysis and stuff the antitrust trial did again. But, go into arbitration, because truthfully, someone like McGregor, I think you could realistically make an argument that he’s owed $100 million by the UFC.
“If you’re really under a waiver, Conor McGregor and fighters like him, the very top guys — it’s it’s not financially possible for most fighters to do this,” Nash continued. “But, for the very top guys, I would think about opting out of the [2017-2020] class and going into arbitration.”
It’s hard to imagine McGregor taking that path which would likely burn some bridges with the UFC. But when millions of dollars are at stake, anything can happen.

During Conor McGregor’s first press conference as a part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, he spoke about how he first got interested in the promotion.
For many, BKFC will come with a big barrier to entry because of the raw and brutal nature of the sport once the gloves are off.
Others will see this as a draw because by taking away the gloves, you’re one step closer to it being a true fight between two athletes rather than a sporting contest.
It was very much love at first sight for McGregor, who has always been passionate about boxing and supporting his fellow fighters.
His route into the sport and BKFC specifically came though a former member of the UFC roster.
Conor McGregor Says Former UFC Fighter Bec Rawlings Was His Introduction To BKFC
The success of BKFC owes a lot to former UFC fighters making the jump over and bringing some added attention and eyeballs with them.
Australia’s Bec Rawlings competed seven times in the Octagon before she was released by the promotion, which led to her finding her way to BKFC as one of the first fighters to make this switch.
“Rowdy” competed at the promotion’s very first event back in June of 2018 where she became the inaugural women’s featherweight champion.
After a brief stint in Bellator, she returned to BKFC in 2022 and last fought under their banner in December of last year.
McGregor spoke at a press conference for BKFC’s upcoming event in Spain about his initial experience with watching the promotion and how Rawlings was the first domino that set this path in motion.
“Just watch one fight and you’ll be hooked, like me. Now I started this, I watched a lady I know through the UFC named ‘Rowdy’ Bec Rawlings and she was a female world champion in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. I was just taken back by what the sport was, what it was about.
“Any real fighter, any real true fighter, inside of them knows that to have a bare knuckle fighting world championship is a real feather in the cap and then once I came down live to see an event, I was blown away by it.”

Jake Paul’s rivalry with Conor McGregor appears to be alive and well as the brash YouTuber-turned-boxer took shots at the Irishman.
While hosting the BKFC press conference, McGregor was asked about Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry on Saturday, and McGregor says he wants to see Paul in BKFC.
“Come and try your trade here at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship,” McGregor said (via Indy100). “Make a new name for yourself, look at what’s happened to Michael Perry, one of our big stars here. The King of Violence, he titles himself. He’s had such a rise in the sport and now he’s up against a little dweeb of a thing in a fight this weekend and we’re all rooting for him.”
Paul was then asked about McGregor’s comments at his press conference ahead of his boxing match against Mike Perry on Saturday, he clapped back at the Irishman.
“Every single person before you has said the same thing from the MMA community. Every single time they sit across from me in these exact same seats and say ‘I’m going to take it from you, I’m going to show a real fighter, you haven’t done this, this is me, welcome to the sport’, shut the f**k up, literally shut the f**k up,” Jake Paul said.
“Words from MMA fighters are f*****g meaningless, you guys are all p*****s, every single MMA fighter is a f*****g p***y, you can’t box for s**t. When I tried to fight y’all in MMA y’all won’t do it. P*****s, you and McGregor, both b*****s will never fight me, both p*****s,” Paul added.
The two still don’t see eye-to-eye and perhaps that will lead to a future fight between Paul and McGregor.
Jake Paul vows to KO Mike Perry within two rounds
Jake Paul is set to box Mike Perry on Saturday in Tampa.
Paul was supposed to box Mike Tyson, but the former heavyweight champ had to withdraw due to a medical issue and Perry stepped in. Heading into the fight, Paul is a sizeable betting favorite and he’s confident he will KO Perry.
“The skills is what pay the bills. And he has no footwork, no head movement, no defense. He’s a great offensive fighter and bare knuckle, but in terms of boxing, he’s going to get picked apart very quickly, and it’s going to be a short night. Like I said, my predictions are never wrong, so I stand on business every single time I manifested into reality. I Jake Joseph Paul will knock out Mike Perry in less than two rounds. It’s going to happen, put money on it,” Paul said at the press conference.
If Paul gets the KO win, it will help add some anticipation for the Tyson fight which is rebooked for November 15.
