Pub Ditches Conor McGregor's Stout After Rape Verdict, Replaces Tap with Charity Logo

A pub in Spennymoor, County Durham, The Grind, has removed all merchandise and products associated with Conor McGregor after the UFC athlete lost a civil rape case on December 5.

Conor McGregor’s Taps Covered in Pub

David Stephenson, the pub’s owner, made the decision to sever ties with Conor McGregor’s brand, Forged, in light of the verdict. The pub’s beer taps, previously promoting McGregor’s stout, have been covered with the logo of The Survivors Trust, a charity supporting sexual violence survivors.

“In light of recent events involving Conor McGregor, we’re removing all Forged products from The Grind. We stand firmly with Nikita Hand and every survivor of sexual assault and violence against women. As of this week, our Forged merchandise has been removed, the beer pump blacked out, and we’ll be selling off the remaining stock with every penny donated to #TheSurvivorsTrust. Special thanks to #lwc for their support in making this process as smooth as possible.”

Stephenson explained that over half of his staff and customers are women, and he felt it was important to stand with survivors of sexual assault. The stout, now renamed “Survivor,” will see all proceeds donated to The Survivors Trust. Footage posted on the pub’s social media shows staff removing Forged branding and replacing it with the charity’s logo.

The Survivors Trust also strives to raise awareness about sexual abuse and its effects on survivors, their supporters, and society at large. They work to inform and improve responses to sexual violence and abuse at local, regional, and national levels in Ireland

The decision to stop selling the stout was made after much consideration. Stephenson said the brand had gained a negative association due to the recent legal outcome, and he did not want to continue serving the product. Despite some mixed reactions on social media, Stephenson stands firm in his belief that cutting ties with McGregor’s brand was the right thing to do.

The Survivors Trust, which provides support to sexual violence survivors in the UK and Ireland, clarified that it had no involvement in the pub’s actions or video but expressed interest in further discussion.

Conor McGregor Celebrates 9th Anniversary of Unifying UFC Gold in 12 Seconds

Conor McGregor hasn’t had much of a reason to celebrate these days, but that won’t stop him from blowing up some balloons every time 12/12 rolls around.

On December 12, 2015, McGregor traded in his interim featherweight title for undisputed gold via a stunning 13-second knockout of Octagon legend Jose Aldo at UFC 194.

To this day, McGregor’s split-second destruction of ‘Junior’ is one of MMA’s most iconic moments and solidified ‘Mystic Mac’ as the biggest star in the sport’s history.

“Happy Conor McGregor day folks! The Twelfth of the Twelfth, 12/12, the day I unified UFC gold for my Ireland in record breaking fashion,” McGregor wrote on X. “12 second KO! Sláinte.”

McGregor won Knockout of the Year for his quick-fire finish of ‘Junior’ and to this day, it stands as the fastest finish in a UFC title fight.

Before falling to McGregor inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Aldo had won 18 straight fights in an unbeaten streak that spanned a decade.

Conor McGregor Reacts to Recent UFO Sightings: What the UFC Star Had to Say About Extraterrestrial Encounters

Conor McGregor, the brash UFC fighter, has added his voice to the growing buzz surrounding recent UFO sightings. In a playful tweet, McGregor expressed his thoughts on the influx of UFO reports, calling it “pretty cool.”

Conor McGregor on UFO’s

Conor McGregor said:

Pretty cool to see ufo’s rocking around freely now. Kang and Kodos shortly, The Simpsons predicted it. The lads were alright. #Kang #Kodos

Conor McGregor’s comment comes amidst an uptick in UFO sightings, including several in the UK and the US in recent weeks. From November 20 to 22, 2024, drones were spotted hovering over multiple Royal Air Force (RAF) bases in the UK, including RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell, which are crucial to the US Air Force’s operations.

Recent UAP and UFO Sightings

These sightings occurred while preparations were underway for RAF Lakenheath’s nuclear mission, prompting concerns about potential surveillance from foreign adversaries. The UK Ministry of Defence has maintained its stance on UAPs, stating that it has not investigated such reports since 2009 and that no UAP sightings have indicated any military threat to the UK.

Across the Atlantic, similar reports have emerged in Somerset County, New Jersey, where residents reported multiple sightings of unidentified objects in early December 2024. These incidents are part of a broader pattern of UAP sightings near US military and nuclear facilities.

In the UK, Manchester Airport recently faced a media frenzy after images and videos of a purported UFO appeared on social media, allegedly showing a spherical object. However, airport officials dismissed the claims, asserting that the footage was likely fake and that their security systems would have flagged any legitimate threat.

As Conor McGregor’s comment highlights, whether you believe in extraterrestrial life or not, the mystery surrounding UFOs shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Is Conor McGregor Going to Retire from the UFC? 'The Notorious' Offers Clues

Conor McGregor continues to give fight fans mixed signals regarding his long-awaited return to the Octagon.

Last month, McGregor was found liable for the rape of Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. The UFC star was ordered to pay the victim more than $250,000 in damages plus a million dollars in legal fees, but McGregor’s financial woes didn’t stop there.

In the ensuing weeks, McGregor was dropped by Proper No. 12 as a spokesman, and retailers throughout the UK and Ireland stopped selling any products associated with McGregor i.e. his Forged Irish Stout. As a result, McGregor could reportedly lose $5-10 million per month.

So, of course, it should come as no surprise that the Irish megastar is once again teasing a return to the Octagon. During a recent exchange on X, McGregor claimed to have had a conversation with UFC CEO Dana White about rebooking his previously scheduled clash with former Bellator champion ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler.

Interestingly, McGregor’s back-and-forth with Chandler came shortly after he posted a gif from the movie Braveheart where Mel Gibson’s character famously yells the line, ‘Freedom.’ Many took that as McGregor once again expressing his desire to be free from the shackles of his UFC contract.

As usual, Dana White played the whole thing aloof when asked about McGregor potentially fighting under the UFC banner again.

“He hasn’t been fighting here in, I don’t know how long,” White said during the UFC 310 post-fight press conference. “Well, if he does fight, it’ll be sometime next year.”

Is Conor McGregor moving back to the U.S. following Civil Suit fallout

With the fallout stemming from his civil suit, McGregor is reportedly considering a move back to the United States where he still has strong support from fans. According to one source per the Irish Mirror:

“Conor has been completely rattled by the devastating fallout as a result of losing the civil case. He is going to appeal the verdict to clear his name. He is genuinely very upset by it all and the manner in which he feels he has been betrayed. But the commercial damage in Britain and Ireland has been massive with retailers refusing to sell his stout and Proper No 12 whiskey.

“However, the court case has not been as damaging commercially in the United States where most of his fans are standing by him. He wants out of Ireland for the moment and to move back to the States.”

Conor McGregor Threatened With ‘Contempt Of Court’ Ruling For Post-Civil Court Case Social Media Activity

Though Nikita Hand has already won her sexual assault civil court case against Conor McGregor, the process still has several steps left to complete. In the latest update, it was ruled that the UFC star would have to pay some of Hand’s legal costs which are expected to be around €1.5 million.

On Thursday afternoon, High Court judge Mr Justice Alexander Owens ruled that McGregor will have to pay the full cost of his side of the case though Ms Hand will have to pay for her costs for the civil case against James Lawrence who was not found guilty of assaulting her in December 2018. The judge also threatened that there could be a ruling of contempt of court filed against “The Notorious” due to some of the comments he has made on social media.

McGregor posted once the verdict was made official where he threw several accusations towards the court and ruling which have since been deleted. He also claimed that he would be appealing the decision. “The social media post was constructed to be an attack on the jury and cannot be tolerated,” said Mr Justice Owens.

“I haven’t decided on that, but I can if I want to instigate a proceeding against Mr McGregor for contempt of court which could result in a fine. He is a very rich man who could well afford to pay a fine.”

John Gordon SC argued on behalf of Ms Hand that due to McGregor’s conduct throughout the case, the Irishman would have to pay costs at the highest level though he did not make the same statement regarding Mr Lawrence.

“This is precisely what it intended to do. Mr McGregor said he didn’t believe Ms Hand and described the court as a ‘kangaroo court’ and it is a direct insult to the jury and I believe the court should not let this go.”

He believes that Ms Hand should get the full extent of her costs paid for by McGregor with no order for costs on the Lawrence side of the case.

Could Conor McGregor’s Finances Force a UFC Return? Millions in Losses Monthly Claims Insider

Conor McGregor may have to limit his jet-setting around the world and month-long vacations on his superyacht.

After being found liable for the 2018 rape of Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel, McGregor was ordered to pay the victim over $250,000 in damages and another million dollars to cover her court fees — a rather paltry amount for someone reportedly worth more than $100 million.

Unfortunately for McGregor, the damage appears to be far from done.

In the wake of the ruling, multiple companies have cut ties with the UFC megastar, including Proper No. 12, the popular brand of Irish whiskey he helped develop before selling to Proximo Spirits for $150 million in 2021. McGregor was no longer a part owner at that point, but the company kept him on as a spokesman following the buyout—a role he no longer carries as of last month’s verdict.

According to ex-fighter Brendan Schaub, Proper No. 12 was Conor McGregor’s biggest source of income, accounting for $5-10 million of his income per month.

“For him to lose [Proper 12], you’re talking about millions of dollars per month, gone. There’s no payout,” Schaub said on his official podcast. “Because when you’re accused of what [McGregor] has been accused of, that goes completely against the contract and you get no backup money, they don’t pay you a severance fee. There’s none of that. So you’re talking possibly, I don’t know how much they pay him, maybe $5-10 million dollars a month” (h/t MMA Mania).

Conor mcGregor’s lavish lifestyle could become a financial burden in the coming months

Of course, Proper No. 12 wasn’t the only company to cut ties with Conor McGregor. Multiple retail chains throughout the UK and Ireland began pulling any products associated with him off their shelves, including his Forged Irish Stout which has sponsorship deals with Matchroom Boxing and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship—another company McGregor still retains a part ownership in.

Earlier this year, McGregor was added to the popular ‘Hitman’ video game franchise as ‘The Disruptor,’ a multi-billionaire MMA fighter that players can hunt down and eliminate. That collaboration has since been extinguished by developer IO Interactive who confirmed in a statement that they would be removing all content associated with McGregor immediately.

“When you’re banking on that [money] as Conor and you’re spending the money like he’s spending … when he was coming up, $10 million changes his life,” Schaub continued. “Let’s say he buys mansions, I bet he bought a few of them. He buys these cars. Now unless he paid all cash for those, those still have a payment every month. Chances are he didn’t pay all cash. So his monthly nut, just based off what we see online, is a few million dollars a month. Most of that was taken care of from the money he was getting from Proper 12.”

“All those companies jump off, so you go from $10 million a month to zero. But the government, with your taxes, and your mortgage payments on multiple houses, and those yachts that you leased or bought, those cars that you leased or have car payments on, or your kids’ private school, or Dee’s monthly payment, whatever you pay her for shopping and whatever, or the housekeeper, and then your parents’ house, you start adding that all up … you don’t have an answer for that. And it’s a real problem.”

McGregor has been absent from the Octagon for more than three years, leading some to speculate that his current financial woes could push him into making a return, assuming the UFC is comfortable absorbing all the negative press that comes with booking someone who was recently found liable for sexual assault.
