Bellator light heavyweight Corey Anderson had an alleged exchange with Fedor Emelianenko after a no-contest vs. Vadim Nemkov.

The finals of the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix Finals at Bellator 277 came to a halt in Round 3 after an accidental clash of heads between Anderson and Nemkov. To that point in the fight, one could argue that Anderson was on his way to earning a win over the champion Nemkov.

Anderson made his mark in the fight with his wrestling by smothering Nemkov on the ground and controlling the pace of the bout. However, everything changed after Anderson and Nemkov hit heads during a scramble with seven seconds left in the third round.

If the infraction came in the fourth or fifth round, the fight would’ve been ruled a technical decision, with Anderson more than likely winning the bout.

During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Anderson revealed that Nemkov’s mentor, Emelianenko got into it with him following the fight’s abrupt conclusion.

“When I got worked up that’s cause of Fedor came in and said, ‘You don’t win. You headbutt. You don’t win.’ Like motherf***er, what?” Anderson said. “Excuse my language. Like, really Fedor? You gonna say that? So you’re trying to tell me I wasn’t beating your guy? I wasn’t winning this fight?”

Bellator President Scott Coker is already on record as saying that Anderson vs. Nemkov rematch will take place later this year. Anderson had won three straight fights in Bellator after a rocky end to his UFC tenure.

Emelianenko is a mentor to many Russian MMA stars, including Nemkov. He’s widely regarded as arguably the greatest heavyweight in the sport’s history.

Anderson will have the opportunity to put a stamp on his recent performance against Nemkov and earn the Grand Prix title. After one of the most unusual ends to a Bellator fight in recent memory, Anderson and Nemkov are both looking for finality in their rematch.

Corey Anderson gives his reaction to losing out on $1 million and a world title at Bellator 277.

Corey Anderson faced off against Vadim Nemkov in the finals of Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix tournament for a million dollars and the Bellator light heavyweight title strap. Anderson was able to assert his dominance by grappling successfully up until the closing of the third round.

With only a few seconds left on the clock, Anderson accidentally banged heads with Nemkov which left a substantial cut above Nemkov’s left eye. While reports suggest that his coaches and Nemkov wanted the fight to carry on after the incident, Anderson brought the clash of the heads to the referee’s attention which resulted in the fight being called off and ruled a no contest.

Following the fight, ‘Overtime’ expressed his discontentment at the outcome before gathering himself to stay composed as he told Nemkov and his team that it wasn’t anybody’s fault. He then passionately shouted to the crowd, “I’m the f*cking champion.” (h/t BJPenn)

Corey Anderson reacts on social media

Corey Anderson took to Instagram to inform the fans that he doesn’t regret bringing attention to the clash of the heads.

“Biggest lesson of the night ‘being a good sport and/or person isn’t always the best decision’ but that’s not going to change me from being me. YES! I told the ref ‘we collided heads’ when he and my coaches told me to keep going cuz his eyes were red from the blood.

“It’s always a good time to do what’s right, even if it costs you a million dollars and a world title. And I still don’t think I would’ve handled it any differently.”

Anderson followed up on his reaction with another statement commanding respect for his name.

“You ain’t gotta like me… But put some respect on my name!”

Bellator president Scott Coker has already committed to a title rematch between Anderson and Nemkov likely to happen sometime this year.

The UFC light heavyweight champion did not mince his words about his old rival.

On Saturday, after Corey Anderson knocked out Ryan Bader at Bellator 268, the conversation started about the best light heavyweight fighter.

Bellator President Scott Coker believes that the winner of the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix Tournament between champion Vadim Nemkov vs. Anderson will be the best 205er in the world.

Anderson already believes he is, and him holding a win over UFC champion Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, who fight for the title next weekend at UFC 267, gives him some steam.

When Blachowicz got word about Anderson’s claim to being the best light heavyweight, he responded the following day.

Blachowicz knocked Corey Anderson out in their rematch at UFC Fight Night: Anderson vs. Blachowicz 2 in 2020. The fight was Anderson’s last fight in the UFC, and he would sign with Bellator six months later and has won all three of his fights by TKO.

Polish Power

On Wednesday, Blachowicz spoke with MMA Fighting and continued to rail on Anderson, calling him a coward for leaving the UFC.

“I just want to put him on the ground again. The difference between him and I is when I lost the fight, I don’t quit because I’m not a quitter,” Blachowicz told Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.

“He lost the fight, and he quit, he let it go. Maybe the pressure was too much, and he went to another place [Bellator]. Like I said, the second league. Now he is talking and barking; I don’t understand. Why doesn’t he stay in the UFC? He can say everything right now, you know, money. No, he is just a coward and a quitter.”

While the trilogy fight between Blachowicz and Anderson is out of the question, with the pair being in different promotions, the trash talk between them will not stop anytime soon.

Jan Blachowicz and Corey Anderson are reigniting their feud over social media.

Corey Anderson was riding high following his first-round finish over Ryan Bader this past Saturday night in the semifinals of the Bellator light heavyweight Grand Prix. That was until he got a Tweet sent his way from his former opponent Jan Blachowicz. Blachowicz called out Anderson following his win.

“Hold up… So a guy who bolted from the UFC after I’ve slept him and almost made him retire, got a couple of wins in the 2nd league and claims he is the best?” Blachowicz wrote. “Maybe I’ve punched him to hard… No class in win or defeat Corey. There’s levels to this.”

Blachowicz holds a win over Anderson from back when they fought in the UFC at UFC Fight Night 167. He took a moment out from his own fight preparations to remind Anderson exactly who the light heavyweight king is. Anderson didn’t just take this insult, he came back with a little trash-talking himself.

“Let’s not forget,” Anderson responded. “What happened to you the 1st time I left you looking like elephant man. And you posted “I need to go home and rethink my career”. Yea I got knocked out in our 2nd fight (lucky punch?) but I made you my broad for 15 min straight nothing lucky about that.”

Anderson left the UFC back in 2020 right after the second bout with Blackowicz. He went on to sign with Bellator and has won all three of his bouts with the new organization. Anderson is just one fight away from bringing home the Bellator light heavyweight title. As for Blachowicz, following his win over Anderson, he went on to win the UFC 205 pound title and is about it defend it for the second time when he takes on Glover Teixeira at UFC 267.

If Jan Blachowicz and Corey Anderson fought for a third time right now, who do you think would win?

Corey Anderson Claims He’s The Best At 205lbs, Jan Blachowicz Responds

Jan Blachowicz had something to say after Corey Anderson declared himself the best light-heavyweight fighter in MMA.

‘Overtime’ made quick work of Ryan Bader at Bellator 268 on Saturday evening. Anderson needed just 51 seconds to dispatch of the current Bellator heavyweight champion and former 205lb titlist.

Post-fight, Anderson told assembled media that he is the world’s best at light-heavyweight. The Bellator Grand Prix finalist ranks himself ahead of UFC champion Jan Blachowicz despite the fact the Polish puncher knocked him out inside one round just last year.

“I already know I’m the best light heavyweight in the world,” Anderson said at the Bellator 269 post-fight press conference. “I already know the Jan (Blachowicz) it was a hiccup of mine in my own shield. I’m not going to say I underestimated him but I looked past him. I was thinking, ‘I whooped the sh*t out of this dude once and I’m going to do it again.’ But I shouldn’t have. I should have taken it one fight at a time.

“Like I’ve said in interviews all week. I learned my lesson. Now, I’m always worried about the moment now. I’m not worried about what’s the next. I’m not looking past anybody or anything or any moment. I know I can dominate Jan again. I know I can do the same thing that I did in 2015 when I only had six or seven fights under my belt. Now, even better with only 21 or 22.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Jan Blachowicz Shuts Down Corey Anderson’s Best In The World Talk

Blachowicz understandably took exception to Anderson’s claim.

“Hold up… So a guy who bolted from the UFC after I’ve slept him and almost made him retire, got a couple of wins in the 2nd league and claims he is the best? Maybe I’ve punched him to hard… No class in win or defeat Corey. There’s levels to this,” Blachowicz wrote on social media.
