Competitive grappling over at Submission Underground just got a lot more interesting.

The promotion, ran by former UFC and Bellator star Chael Sonnen, just wrapped up Submission Underground 10 this past weekend. During the show, Craig Jones defeated UFC star Gilbert Burns. Shortly after the match, Jones discussed what was next for him, suggesting taking on the tag team grappling division of Submission Underground. “What’s next for me? Those tag-team matches look pretty fun,” Jones said. “I’m going to try to twist Gordon’s arm, but that’s a hard thing to do!”

Sonnen seemed to like that idea very much and even threw some money down on the line, offering up $25,000 to any team who could pick up a win over the dynamic duo of Jones and Ryan.

“Should that happen I will personally give $25,000 to any tag team alive that can come in and beat these guys,” Sonnen said.

Ryan, who submitted former UFC heavyweight title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga that night, was then asked about the prospect of doing tag team grappling with Jones. He seemed very open to the idea.

“Yeah, for sure. Tag-team matches have been picking up some steam, and there’s nobody better to do it with than Craig,” said Ryan. “So if everything works out properly then, yeah, I’m in for sure.”

Do you think there’s a team out there who can beat the team of Ryan and Craig?

Rousimar Palhares massively missed weight for his latest bout.

We already knew Palhares was absolutely huge. The hulking, controversial grappler has confirmed that. Palhares missed weight by an alarming margin for his headliner against Craig Jones at today’s Kasai Pro 3 in New York.

The fight was originally slated to be a 185-pound no-gi grappling match. It was changed to a 200-pound bout due to Palhares stating he could only make that weight. “Toquinho” appeared overly massive on social media last week.

That wasn’t the end of his issues, however.

The fight moved on with at an openweight when Palhares weighed in at 218 pounds. Jones, meanwhile, was 13.4 pounds lighter than his opponent. The bout is a submission-only match-up that lasts 10 minutes. Confusion arose when Palhares told MMA Fighting he thought the fight had no weight limit.

Jones agreed to proceed. Kasai officials also told MMA Fighting that a communication problem with Palhares’ team lead to the confusion.

Former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares is huge.

The disgraced and controversial grappling wiz has seen better days in his MMA career. “Toquinho” has lost three of his last five fights by T/KO. He’ll return to compete in his beloved grappling soon when he meets rising star Craig Jones at KASAI Pro 3.

When he does, it appears that the hulking Brazilian will be bigger than ever. This photo recently surfaced on social media of Palhares looking simply massive:

The leglock specialist revealed he weighs 212 pounds, telling MMA Fighting he isn’t concerned with all the hate he expectedly received:

“People say whatever they want to try to diminish your work, so that doesn’t bother me at all.”

Palhares was infamously released from WSOF after he eye gouged Jake Shields and held onto a kimura for too long. He’s been fighting overseas ever since.

He’s planning to stop cutting down to welterweight due to the fact his results have been less than stellar recently. Palhares said the weight cut was nearly killing him.

The photo shown above would support that theory.
