A heavyweight tilt between Daniel Omielanczuk (19-5-1, 1 NC) and Alexey Oleinik (50-10-1) served as the third bout on the main card of UFC Fight Night 91.

The early success of Oleinik was not enough to stop the bruising put on by Omielanczuk.

Right away Oleinik threw some bombs and Omielanczuk was happy to return the favor. Omielanczuk looked for a choke, but was taken down. “The Boa Constrictor” moved to mount and tried going for the Ezekiel choke. Oleinik landed some hammerfists. They returned standing and Oleinik landed some inside elbows before dumping his opponent back down to the canvas. He took the back of Omielanczuk but the horn sounded shortly after.

Oleinik was popped and Omielanczuk wound up in top control early in the second stanza. “The Boa Constrictor” went for a heel hook, but settled for top position. Oleinik kept his opponent’s back against the cage, but not for long. A hard left hook landed for Omielanczuk. Oleinik scored his third takedown. “The Boa Constrictor” went for an armbar with a little less than a minute left in the round. He transitioned to a triangle, but Omielanczuk landed some hammfists on his bloodied opponent before the round ended.

The final frame was underway and Oleinik wasted little time trying to get a takedown. Omielanczuk earned top control on a tired and beat up Oleinik. Referee Kevin MacDonald had seen enough of the stalling and separated the two. A right hand found the jaw of Oleinik before he returned to the clinch. “The Boa Constrictor” took his opponent down and took the back. Omielanczuk reversed and earned top control. For the second time, the fight was stood up and Oleinik spat out his mouthpiece. Omielanczuk earned a takedown to end the fight.

One judge saw the fight even, while the other two awarded the bout to Omielanczuk.

Final Result: Daniel Omielanczuk def. Alexey Oleinik via majority decision (28-28, 29-28, 29-28)
