Kevin Holland and Darren Till continued their altercation involving Khamzat Chimaev, in the lobby after the canceled press conference. Yesterday, Dana White announced that the UFC 279 press conference will be canceled due to safety concerns backstage. Many fighters had been squabbling backstage, most notably Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland.

According to Ariel Helwani, Chimaev push-kicked Holland in the chest. He wrote on Twitter, “Khamzat Chimaev push kicked Holland in the chest. Chimaev was reacting to things Holland has said recently and it set him off, I’m told. Once that was broken up the Chimaev-Diaz part of the story popped off and then the bottles started flying.” After the press conference had been announced as canceled, these two fighters continued their argument in the lobby.

UFC fan Chris Owens shared the following footage on his Instagram, which was later shared by Aaron Bronster:

New Footage of Kevin Holland and Darren Till

The new footage shows the US-born Kevin Holland and Darren Till arguing in a lobby surrounded by their team. A training partner of ‘Borz‘ Till said “He can do what he wants!” To which Holland responded, “Well, then we can do what we want.” It is a continuous argument between Holland and the Englishman Till. Much of it is inaudible but appears to be involving a restaurant.

“Kevin, you’re fighting on Saturday night,” Till said attempting to defuse the matter. To which Holland responded, “It’s not about fighting, it’s about risk control … Tell these fools to enjoy their meal.” The argument was continuously interrupted by the fighters signing autographs and taking photos with fans.

On Saturday night at UFC 279, Holland will be facing Daniel Rodriguez. ‘D-Rod’ shows up at one point, laughs along with Holland and his team, hugs a fan, and walks away.

Darren Till has earned a record of 1-2 since moving up to middleweight in 2019. Due to injuries, he has not fought since late 2021. It is rumored that the English-born fighter will be facing Dricus du Plessis, who is 3-0 in the UFC, and UFC 282.

Khamzat Chimaev has been training with Darren Till to get ready for his UFC 279 main event fight against Nate Diaz. This will be the Russian’s first five-round fight in the UFC and will likely be Diaz’s last bout in the organization.

A middleweight division matchup between one-time welterweight title challenger, and #9 ranked contender, Darren Till, and the streaking #13 rated challenger, Dricus du Plessis, is currently targeted to take place at UFC 282 on December 10. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As per an initial report this Tuesday night from ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto, verbal agreements between Till and South African finisher, du Plessis are in place for the middleweight pair to share the Octagon at UFC 282.

Darren Till (@darrentill2) said he’d return before the end of the year, before a monster “comeback” in 2023,” Okamoto tweeted. “The return is in the works. Till vs. Dricus du Plessis (@dricusduplessis) is verbally agreed for UFC 282 on Dec. 10.”

In the midst of a two-fight losing skid, Liverpool native, Darren Till last featured in the main event of UFC Vegas 36 back in September of last year against Derek Brunson, suffering a thrid round rear-naked choke loss.

Darren Till is without a victory since November 2019

Till was scheduled to co-headline UFC London back in July, however, was ruled from a rescheduled bout against Jack Hermansson due to an undisclosed injury.

Prior to his loss against Brunson, Till dropped a unanimous judging loss against recent UFC Paris winner and former middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker. Till’s most recent professional win came in the form of a split decision triumph over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 in November 2019.

17-2 as a professional, du Plessis, a former KSW middleweight champion, who holds a win over recent ONE Championship recruit, Roberto Soldic – has so far enjoyed an impressive run of three straight victories in his Octagon tenure.

Debuting with a first round knockout win over promotional alum, Markus Perez, du Plessis would then stop Trevin Giles with strikes, before comfortably defeating a bloodied, Brad Tavares at UFC 276 in July during International Fight Week.

Darren Till Marvin Vettori

Marvin Vettori made some comments recently on his middleweight contemporary Darren Till. While ‘The Italian Dream’ is preparing for his UFC Paris showdown against Robert Whittaker this weekend, he made some scorching remarks on his formerly booked opponent during the pre-fight press conference.

Vettori and ‘The Gorilla’ were booked to meet in April of 2021, however, the English-born Till was forced to withdraw from this fight due to a collarbone injury. Over a year later, Vettori says he has been calling out anyone in the middleweight division for a fight, except Till. The 28-year-old Vettori had this to say about the Englishman:

“I don’t think I ever even called out Darren Till. Like he’s actually completely irrelevant at this point. I think in the division he’s literally zero. Delusional also …  He’s done. To be honest, I don’t think he’s ever going to come back.”

The British fighter Till heard the words from Vettori and did not take too kindly to them. In response to his former booked opponent, the 29-year-old spoke with Brett Okamoto of ESPN and said:

“Marvin, listen, you big stupid b*stard: I wish you all the best this week in your fight. I hope you do really well because you’re a great fighter. But let’s get one thing straight, brother: Right – I’m 29. When I’m healthy, it’s just fight, fight, fight. That’s all I’ll be doing.  There’s nothing I think about more than just fighting, so what are you talking about, mate? Stop trying to put me down, you big stupid orc b*stard, because we’re going to meet one day and I’m going to drive my fist through your face.” [Transcript courtesy of MMA Junkie]

Darren Till is currently training alongside UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev to help get him prepared for his UFC 279 fight against Nate Diaz. As for in Octagon action, ‘The Gorilla’ has not returned to the UFC since his last two consecutive losses, the most recent being in late 2021.

Meanwhile ‘The Italian Dream’ Marvin Vettori will be fighting to get back into the title picture as he faces former UFC Middleweight World Champion ‘The Reaper’ Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night this weekend.
