He may not have a fight on the horizon, but today has brought Conor McGregor his 30th birthday and some more good news.
Today his longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin, with whom McGregor shares a son Conor Jr., posted a birthday message for MMA’s biggest superstar on Instagram, wishing Conor a happy 30th from her, Conor Jr., and a second baby soon to come:
“Happy 30th birthday babe! Thank you for being you! Love you to bits from me, Conor jr and the bump.”
McGregor is currently awaiting his next court date in New York for his highly-publicized assault on a bus containing UFC lightweight champion before April’s UFC 223. Dana White has insisted no negotiations with McGregor are forthcoming until he clears up his legal trouble.
Even before that, the Irish star didn’t seem all too rushed to get back into the Octagon after a reported $85 million payday to box Floyd Mayweather Jr. in August 2017. So he may have another child on the way, but that’s no sweat for MMA’s biggest star.
His return is uncertain, and perhaps he never will. A bout with “The Eagle” seems too good to pass, however, and there’s no telling how long even the cash McGregor has can sustain the lavish lifestyle he flaunts.
So as McGregor’s family grows, the mixed martial arts world is left to wonder if his legacy ever will as well.
On a weekend devoid of fights from the UFC, perhaps the biggest news in the MMA world was Conor McGregor welcoming son Conor Jr. into the world with longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin. News broke yesterday that Conor Jr. came into the world at 8 pounds, 14 ounces according to his grandfather Tony McGregor. And today,

And today, we’ve got some pictures of the new baby and parents. McGregor, who has not fought since his UFC 205 win over Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight crown because of Devlin’s pregnancy, posted one of his sleeping son and Devlin on his official Instagram account first:

With his son now happily welcomed, McGregor can supposedly get back into the cage (or boxing ring) after taking the time off to not put stress on Devlin during her pregnancy.
But even with that major milestone now in the rearview, McGregor’s fighting future is anything but certain as he continues to seek a boxing megafight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., even if Dana White said they just lost their date last night and talks have significantly died down in recent days.
With Conor Jr. safe in his mother’s arms, maybe they’ll start to pick back up gain. Or maybe, just maybe, McGregor could finally just decide to defend a UFC title.
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor announced he planned to take the beginning of 2017 off to welcome his first child into the world after winning the 155-pound title from Eddie Alvarez at November 2016’s UFC 205, and that has now become a reality. UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor announced he planned to take the beginning of 2017 off to welcome his first child into the world after winning the 155-pound title from Eddie Alvarez at November 2016’s UFC 205, and that has now become a reality.
McGregor and longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin reportedly welcomed baby boy Conor Jack McGregor Jr. to the world according to McGregor’s father father Tony in a report to The Irish Mirror:
“There’s great news for the McGregors and the Devlins. Baby Conor Jack McGregor was delivered last night at 8pm in the Coombe Hospital.
“He came in at 8 pounds 14 ounces. The whole family are absolutely delighted.”
It’s great news for the two respective families involved, but it could cause some headaches for future generations of the fight game if Conor Jr. is anything like his brash trash-talking father.
Now that “The Notorious” has become a father for the first time, the fight world may finally find out what his next move is as he continues to chase a lucrative boing match with Floyd Mayweather, a bout which talks about have cooled in recent weeks.
He’ll always have a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz, and basically the collective whole of three UFC divisions are angling to get a fight with the UFC’s biggest golden ticket. For now, however, McGregor will sit back and welcome his first born into the world.

Much speculation has been made as to the announcement expected to be made by UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor after his next Octagon appearance at UFC 205.
McGregor was granted a lightweight title opportunity against current 155-pound title holder Eddie Alvarez in the main event of the massive Madison Square Garden event, a decision that UFC President Dana White admitted was unfair to interim featherweight champ Jose Aldo and No. 1-ranked lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov:
“Listen, I battled this thing forever. Not only is it not fair to Jose Aldo, it’s not fair to Khabib (Nurmagomedov) and Max Holloway. So, believe me, I battled with this thing but there are . . how can I say this? There are other circumstances involved in this that will be played out after the fight. It’s something completely out of left-field but it’s Conor’s business, it’s not mine, and I’ll let Conor announce it when he’s ready to.”
According to a report from The Irish Sun newspaper, a source close to the Irish champ told them that McGregor is planning to ‘spawn a few world champions’ with longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin, and is ‘determined to take time out’ to settle down with her:
“And after UFC 205 is the perfect time to start. He’s telling people he wants time out. It’s unlikely to be permanent, but the time is right to step back for a while. He knows that if he wins UFC 205 he can always come back in a year or two for a mega money fight. He could name his price. He’ll be back.”
Despite reports that ‘The Notorious One’ is planning on walking away from the sport altogether, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani says otherwise noting that he can ‘assure’ MMA fans McGregor is not walking away:
“He probably would have preferred if Dana didn’t make this sort of vague statement. But I can assure you he’s not retiring.”
Irish MMA Journalist Niall McGrath chimed in as well stating that he wouldn’t be shocked at all if McGregor decided to take some time off from fighting, but notes talk of McGregor wanting to start a family as nothing more than ‘rumours’ at the moment:
“There’s been a lot of speculation that Conor is going to be taking time off and I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. It’s been a long three years for him when you look at the number of fights he’s had — this will be his tenth UFC fight and you’ve also to remember that he missed a year through injury.
“There’s been rumours about wanting to start a family with Dee and settle down after UFC 205 but that’s all they are at the moment. Rumours. I’m not sure if he’ll take a full year off, he’s a prize fighter and he’s money-hungry as we all know.”
The Irish Sun also notes that McGregor’s representatives did not return they’re request for comment on the story.
