Many believed that Olympic gold medalist wrestler Henry Cejudo was the man to finally give dominant UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson a run for his belt, but they soon found out that was not even close to the case when “Mighty Mouse” locked up with “The Messenger” in the co-main event of last night’s (Sat., April 23, 2016) UFC 197 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After Cejudo got a surprisingly easy takedown early on, it was as if a light switch was turned on inside “Mighty Mouses’s” head, as he bruised and battered the challenger with a dangerous mix of elbows, knees, and some follow-up punches to absolutely demolish the previously undefeated — and cocky — challenger in less than three minutes.

it was a dominant performance that could do nothing less than cement Johnson as the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, as his only other legitimate threat — new interim champ Jon Jones — did not look nearly as impressive in his comeback victory in the bout directly following “Mighty Mouse’s” latest dominant win.

It could easily be argued that “Mighty Mouse” has cleaned out his entire division as he approaches Anderson Silva’s record for most consecutive title defenses, and it’s a a serious question to ask when considering whom he will face next.

But last night was about basking in the glory of one of his finest-ever wins, so watch the full fight video highlights of Johnson’s dominant;y jaw-dropping win right here:

The Octagon has long been deemed as the ultimate proving ground for mixed martial artists, and the upcoming UFC 197 event which is slated for this Saturday (April 23, 2016) will serve as no different.

The UFC has stacked the deck with this event, as it’s set to be headlined by back to back title fights with all eyes obviously landing on the highly anticipated return of reigning pound-for-pound king and former light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones, a man who’s spent the last year and a half on the sidelines dealing with legal issues.

After being involved in a hit and run accident last April in his home of New Mexico, “Bones” was arrested on felony charges and stripped of his long-held 205 pound strap.

Although he won’t get the chance to recapture his title against his arch nemesis and former champion Daniel Cormier like he was scheduled to, Jones will get the chance to claim an interim title against No. 6-ranked Ovince St. Preux.

With that being said, let’s take a look at Jones and five other fighters in desperate need of a win at UFC 197:

Two of the most exciting strikers in mixed martial arts (MMA), former UFC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis and Edson Barboza were originally scheduled to face off last July, but an injury to Pettis caused the bout to be scrapped.

Well, the two men will now finally meet as the UFC’s Dave Sholler took to twitter to announce the fight for April 23’s UFC 197 from Las Vegas, Nevada:

“Showtime”, a man once considered to be the next big thing, has hit some rough times as of late, losing two straight and dealing with multiple injuries.

After surrendering his crown in brutal fashion to Rafael dos Anjos last March, Pettis recently returned at UFC Fight Night 81 last month, dropping a split-decision to former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez.

Barboza has also been off his game so to say, losing two out his last three bouts. He was last seen taking on Tony Ferguson in what was a fantastic back and forth fight last December, but ultimately ended up losing by way of submission.

While Pettis in particular has shown a weakness against top level wrestlers, one could assume that this fight will take place mostly on the feet, and if it does, fans could be in store for a classic showdown.

UFC 197 will be headlined by a light heavyweight grudge match as reigning champion Daniel “DC” Cormier puts his title on the line in a rematch against former champion and current pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones.

Dominant flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will also defend his strap in the co-main event as he squares off with former Olympian Henry “The Messenger” Cejudo.
