UFC star Desmond Green made headlines when he was arrested for DUI manslaughter on Tuesday.

This comes after an incident back in August where he allegedly caused a five-car crash that killed two women. Officials claim that alcohol and drugs were in his system, as well as cocaine in his vehicle.

On top of that, he’s facing multiple charges. The incident happened when his 2011 Dodge Durango on I-75 swerved into a semi truck on August 18. The reason for these charges being brought forward now is due to the investigation taking so long. Now, police feel that they have enough to prosecute Green.

Green is facing multiple felony manslaughter counts as well as serious prison time if convicted. He’s been competing for years and made his Bellator debut back in 2013 before going to the UFC in 2017. His latest fight came back in May where he beat Charles Jourdain at a UFC Fight Night event.

The initial crash started a chain reaction with Green’s car striking several vehicles, killing a 67-year-old and a 76-year-old woman. According to the police, two other people were also seriously injured while Green sustained minor injuries from the incident.

The police report states that Green threw a container over the highway barrier after the crash. When the cops took a look, they found a metal grinder with weed inside. Also, Green, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, had a bag of cocaine in the front seat of his car.

Even worse, Green showed signs of being drunk as he had slurred speech and smelled like alcohol. This is when the toxicology tests showed he had alcohol and drugs in his system.

UFC Philadelphia is ongoing today (Sat. March 30, 2019) from the Wells Fargo Center in Pennsylvania.

On the ESPN prelims, Desmond Green absolutely brutalized Ross Pearson in their lightweight bout. Green executed a single leg takedown before unloading a barrage of right hands on Pearson against the cage. Pearson was unable to get to his feet, and was taking way too much damage from Green’s strikes.

The referee decided he had seen enough, before waving the action off after 2:52 in the very first round. Check out the nasty finish here:

Desmond Green Was Driving On A Suspended License At Time Of Fatal Accident

It doesn’t look good for UFC Lightweight Desmond Green as details are starting to emerge from the fatal car accident that left two elderly women dead.

Desmond Green was driving on a suspended license at the time of the fatal accident that left two people dead.

Details are starting to emerge on the deadly five-car accident that happened early Sunday morning on Interstate 75 in Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Green told them he lost control of his Dodge Durango and thus swerved into the next lane and into the path of a truck and trailer. Three more vehicles soon followed suit, causing a chain reaction that left two dead.

Two female passengers in a Toyota Yaris were pronounced dead on the scene – Emelina Morfa, 67, and Emma Suarez Hernandez, 76. The driver of the Yaris was seriously injured while Green and the other driver walked away relatively unscathed.

Authorities spend hours investigating the scene and collecting evidence. As to what caused Green to swerve and lose control of his vehicle, well that’s what the police are investigating.

Just two weeks before the fatal accident in Deerfield Beach, Fla. Green was cited for driving on a suspended license and failure to provide proof of insurance after being involved in an accident resulting in less than $1,000 in damages.

It gets worse for Green.

He was pulled over by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department on April 20 for expired registration tags. Green admitted to having ********* and mushrooms hidden in baggies in his socks when police approached the vehicle.

Green was ordered to appear in court for the citations received for the ********* and expired registration tags. A capias warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to make his promised appearance. However, he was able to ‘squash’ his warrant and receive a new court date to Aug 30, 2018.

LowkickMMA and other media outlets have reached out to Green but he has yet to publicly comment on the matter.

A criminal defense attorney has stated that the toxicology results for Green’s most recent Aug. 19 traffic accident are going to be pivotal as it comes to his pending citations.

“The Broward state attorney’s office, they’re going to be more focused on the incident at hand, because that’s what’s relevant,” said Richard Ansara, senior partner at Ansara Law Firm. “If they want to go after him, they’re going to go after him through that.”

Investigators may look into Green’s activities throughout the day, and whether or not the 28-year-old had consumed any alcohol earlier in the day.

For now it appears Green remains scheduled to face Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night 136 on Sept 15, 2018, at Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Moscow. But given the unflattering details emerging regarding Green, the UFC may deliver a preemptive strike and cut ties with the lightweight fighter.
