Eddie Hearn and Ryan Garcia's father get into explicit verbal altercation following Devin Haney fight

Things got intense between Ryan Garcia’s father and British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn on Saturday night.

‘King Ryan’ scored perhaps the biggest win of his professional boxing career, dispatching WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney with a sensational 12-round performance that saw him knock down ‘The Dream’ three times during the contest. Garcia ultimately left with a majority decision victory despite Haney walking into the bout as a massive 8-to-1 favorite on multiple sportsbooks.

Immediately following the festivities, Hearn and Ryan Garcia’s father got into a heated verbal exchange backstage.

“Big respect to Ryan Garcia, he was amazing,” Hearn began before being interrupted by Garcia Sr. “Well done, well done.”

“That’s what you get. You’re a piece of sh*t” Garcia Sr. shouted.

“Oh really? F*ck you. F*ck you, you little piece of sh*t. What are you talking about?” Hearn responded.

“F*ck you, you know you’re a piece of sh*t and that’s what you get,” Garcia Sr. said, grabbing his crotch in the process. “Now what are you going to say? Luke Campbell and Devin Haney, f*ck you. Now who have you got?”

Hearn offered up reigning IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis, which instantly calmed things down between the two. Hearn reached out, offering a handshake that Garcia Sr. accepted.

After his decisive performance against Haney, Ryan Garcia appears to have plenty of fighters ready to step up and cash in on his big win. ‘King Ryan’ welcomed a clash with Ennis, to which the former two-time Golden Gloves Champion called Garcia “food.”

Garcia also accepted a challenge from British boxing star Conor Benn.

“Let’s run it in London at the O2,” Garcia wrote in response to Benn’s challenge on X. “I will fracture you SPLEIN and then eat it.”

As it stands, Benn is ineligible to compete in the UK after testing positive for clomifene on two occasions in 2022. The ban was lifted in July 2023 but was reinstated last month after the British Boxing Board of Control successfully appealed the decision to reinstate the Greenwich native.

Ex-UFC champion Israel Adesanya lost 20k betting on Devin Haney to KO Ryan Garcia

Israel Adesanya’s wallet is a little lighter this morning.

After months of bizarre behavior, Ryan Garcia shocked the boxing world on Saturday night, handing WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney the first loss of his career. ‘King Ryan’ looked as sharp as ever, knocking ‘The Dream’ down three times over the 12-round affair en route to a majority decision victory.

Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney

Needless to say, it was a good night for the sportsbooks. Haney was a significant favorite going into the contest with some sites listing him as high as 8-to-1. ‘The Last Stylebender’ decided to take the bait, placing a $20,000 bet on Haney to KO Garcia at +100 odds, meaning that Adesanya would have doubled his money had the bet hit.

“Shoot the dice,” Adesanya wrote on X alongside a picture of his play.

Instead, it was Garcia who nearly finished things. After catching Haney with a booming left hook in the opening round, Garcia slowed down a bit, leading many to believe he’d already punched himself out. That theory was thrown out after ‘King Ryan’ dropped his opponent in the seventh, tenth, and eleventh rounds.

And poof! $20,000 down the drain.

It’s not the first time Israel Adesanya has lost big money betting on boxing

It’s far from the first time that Israel Adesanya has come up short while laying down big money. He put another 20k down on Francis Ngannou to leave with a win over Tyson Fury last October. Unfortunately, ‘The Predator’ came up short on two of the three scorecards, a decision that was and still is heavily scrutinized.

Ngannou vs. Fury

In reality, it’s unlikely that the ‘Stylebender’ is putting up his own money. His sponsorship deal with Stake likely affords him so many opportunities to play with house money — so long as he advertises his bets on social media.

Still, 20 grand is nothing to scoff at, no matter whose pocket it comes out of.

Ryan Garcia knocks down Devin Haney three times, scores majority decision win - Haney vs. Garcia Highlights

After months of erratic behavior, Ryan Garcia returned to the boxing ring on Saturday night for his highly anticipated clash with reigning WBC super lightweight world champion Devin Haney. Initially, Haney was set to put his title on the line, but after ‘King Ryan’ stepped on the scale more than three pounds over the 140-pound weight limit, Garcia was deemed ineligible to win the gold.

Things started hot in the opening round with Garcia landing a big left hand that had Haney rocked early. Garcia poured on the pressure but was unable to put his opponent on the mat before the end of the round.

Haney collected himself between rounds and came out looking sharp over the next several rounds. However, the tide turned in the seventh with ‘King Ryan’ once again landed a nasty left hook that sat down Devin Haney for the first time in his pro boxing career. Haney answered the count and hung onto Garcia until the clock ran down.

The next couple of rounds were fairly competitive until Ryan poured it on in the 10th and 11th rounds, putting Haney on the canvas in each one. Feeling good about his work, Garcia opted to spend the majority of the final round dancing and taunting his opponent before hearing the official scorecards.

Ryan Garcia is not acting like someone who is hours away from the biggest fight of their boxing career.

On Saturday, April 20, ‘King Ryan’ returns to the ring in what should have been his first shot at becoming an undisputed world champion. However, Garcia weighed in more than three pounds over the 140-pound limit for his clash with WBC super lightweight titleholder Devin Haney. As a result, Garcia will not be eligible to win the belt.

Nor does he seem to give a sh*t. That much was evident after the former interim champ weighed in while chugging a beer on Friday.

Garcia will also fork over 1.5 million dollars to Haney after coming in overweight.

In the months leading up to his showdown with Haney, Ryan Garcia has exhibited some downright disturbing behavior. Despite all of the craziness, which included claims from Garcia that he was forced to watch the sexual assault of children, Golden Boy Promotions and the New York State Athletic Commission have allowed the fight to proceed as scheduled — a decision that many pundits have and continue to criticize.
