UFC 132 will take place on July 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.  The fight card will close out a run of six straight weekends of UFC/Strikeforce fight cards.

The main event at UFC 132 will feature the promotion’s first bantamweight title fight, as champion Dominck Cruz (17-1)  looks to avenge the only loss of his career when he faces off against former WEC champion Urijah Faber (25-4). Cruz lost to Faber back in March 2007, falling via first round submission in a bout that saw Faber successfully defend his WEC featherweight title.

Also competing on the main card will be Wanerlei Silva (30-10-1-1). The “Axe Murderer”  makes his return to the Octagon after a prolonged time away due to injury rehab. Silva will jump right back into the fray, facing Chris Leben (25-7). Silva has not fought since he defeated Michael Bisping in February 2010. Leben is coming off a loss to Brian Stann on New Year’s Day 2011.

Also on the main card, Tito Ortiz (15-8-1) will look to win his first fight since defeating Ken Shamrock in October 2006. Ortiz is in a must win situation, as he has been informed by UFC president Dana White that this will be his last chance with the organization. Standing in Ortiz’s way will be Ryan Bader (12-1), whose only loss came at the hands of current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

UFC 132 Fight Card: UFC Champ Jon Jones Picking Cruz over Friend Urijah Faber

When Urijah Faber steps into the Octagon on July 2 to fight Dominick Cruz for Cruz’s bantamweight title, he will have friend and business partner Jon Jones cheering for him, but not expecting him to dethrone Cruz.

Jones, recently spoke to SB Nation on a number of topics, one of which was the upcoming fight at UFC 132 between Faber and Cruz.  Jones told Thomas, “Urijah’s my friend and business partner, and I’m definitely rooting for him to win.”

Jones’ heart and his head seemed to be at different places as he added, “If I actually had to put my money on it I would think that Dominick Cruz would win the fight. He’s been winning very impressively and he seems to be always improving, Urijah’s last two fights haven’t been finishes.”

Cruz enters the title bout on an eight fight winning streak. In fact, his first and only loss came at the hands of Faber, back in March of 2007, when the two met for Faber’s WEC featherweight title. Faber won that bout via first round submission.

Cruz captured the WEC bantamweight title with a win over Brian Bowles in March of last year and when the WEC was absorbed into the UFC, he became the UFC champion.

Faber enters the fight with a record of 25-4.  Since losing his WEC title to Mike Brown in June 2009, Faber has had an up and down time in the cage, going 4-2 since that loss.

While Jones was being honest in his assessment of the Cruz versus Faber fight, that opinion could result in some awkward business meetings for Faber and Jones.

For now it appears that the dancing days for Faber and Jones may be on hold.

UFC 132 Fight Card: Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber Fight Breakdown

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan R.R. Clarke:

Yes, the time is close, for Dominick Cruz to defend his Bantamweight title against Urijah Faber on July 2 at UFC 132.

In all honesty, this Bantamweight bout isn’t going to get the whole MMA world overexcited initially.

Recently the UFC has come under heavy criticism for their lackluster main events which have failed to impress of late. The Georges St-Pierre vs. Jake Shields fight was overshadowed by some much better battles that night (Mark Hominick and Jose Aldo spring to mind). UFC 132’s main event however should prove to be a more exciting clash between Cruz and Faber.

Let’s take a look at how the fight might unfurl round by round.

UFC 132: Did Chris Leben Bite Off More Than He Can Chew In Wanderlei Silva?

Bleacher Report’s Andrew Barr:

UFC 132 is a stacked card with many potentially exciting fights, but there is one bout fans are expecting to steal the show: Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva vs. Chris “The Crippler” Leben.

Both men have a reputation for never taking a step back and throwing bombs. They are two of the most aggressive fighters in the history of MMA and, win or lose, they always put on a good show for the fans.

However, the question running through many people’s minds is: Is Chris Leben ready for a fighter like Wanderlei Silva?

Leben has been fighting in the UFC’s middleweight division for a long time, but he has never been able to elevate himself above gatekeeper status.

Wanderlei has only fought once in the UFC’s middleweight division, but is one of the most accomplished mixed martial artists ever and has fought many all-time greats.
