Donald Trump, the 45th U.S. President and likely Republican nominee in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, is reportedly safe after being rushed off stage following an apparent assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The Associated Press reports that Trump said “Oh” and grabbed at his ear when the shots first rang out, with the presumptive Republican nominee crouching down as two more shots were heard.

Trump was tackled on stage by agents, who were covering to protect him from the gunfire, as screams were heard throughout the thousands gathered for the rally. When Trump got back to his feet, he appeared to have blood on his face but pumped his fist as he was escorted off stage and away from the scene.

Spokesman Steven Cheung subsequently released the following statement.

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”

Multiple reports, citing Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger, state that a suspected gunman and at least one member of the rally’s audience were killed.

UFC Fighters & Personalities React To Apparent Trump Shooting

Trump and UFC CEO Dana White have had a long-standing loyalty and friendship to one another dating back to the UFC’s early days. When Zuffa purchased the promotion at the start of 2001, the first two events (UFC 30 and UFC 31) were held at the then-Trump Taj Mahal (now the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

White was a big supporter of Trump during the 2016 and 2020 elections and appeared to continue to be such with Trump being the presumptive Republican Party nominee for the 2024 election.

The Pennsylvania rally was the last Trump was holding prior to the start of the Republican National Convention that begins on July 15.

“I posted a video for Trump on my personal social media,” White said this past November. “One of our big sponsors called and said, ‘Take that down.’ You know what I said? Go f*ck yourself. You vote for whoever you want to vote for, and I’ll vote for whoever I want to vote for. That’s how this works.

“I don’t even care who you’re voting for. It’s none of my f*cking business. F*ck you. Don’t ever f*cking call me and tell me who to vote for.”

Former US President heaps praise on UFC icon Khabib Nurmagomedov he's the greatest fighter of all time

Former United States President, Donald Trump has commented on his recent meeting with former undisputed lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov over the weekend at UFC 302, claiming the Russian star is probably the greatest fighter to ever compete in combat sports.

Trump, who has attended several events held by the UFC in a pay-per-view setting over the last eighteen month, was Octagon-side at UFC 302 last weekend in New Jersey, sharing words with fighters – including a notable meeting with Kevin Holland after his submission win over Michal Oleksiejczuk.

And following the night’s headliner, which saw undisputed lightweight titleholder, Islam Makahchev lay waste to Dustin Poirier with a fifth round D’Arce choke, Trump shared an embrace with the champion’s trainer, former lightweight star, Nurmagomedov.

A really smart guy – Big things in the future of Khabib! DJT”

Guiding Makhachev to his third successful defense of the lightweight championship, the above-mentioned Nurmagomedov claimed his compariot had “grown” a lot during his fight with Poirier – dealing with significant adversity in the bout, in the form of a sizeable laceration opened on his forehead in the fourth round.

Colby Covington confirms US Congress run I'm the Donald Trump of the UFC

Former interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington has confirmed how once his mixed martial arts career closes, he plans to make a run for a seat in the United States Congress, or even become the Governor for Florida – his residing state – referring to himself as the “Donald Trump of the UFC”.

Covington, a former interim welterweight champion under the banner of the Dana White-led promotion, headlined UFC 296 as part of the final pay-per-view event of the year for the organization earlier this month, dropping a one-sided unanimous decision loss to incumbent welterweight king, Leon Edwards.

Suffering his third undisputed championship fight loss during his UFC tenure, the outspoken Clovis native had previously saw undisputed title charges against rival, Kamaru Usman end in first knockout and then decision defeats, respectively.

And addressing his immediate fighting future following his one-sided judging loss, MMA Masters trainee Covington confirmed plans for a fight with veteran favorite, Stephen Thompson in his return.

Colby Covington plans political move after UFC run

Once his fighting career is over however, Covington, who is a notorious supporter of former United States President, Donald Trump, confirmed plans to make a stab at a political career.

“I do believe I’m the Donald Trump of the UFC,” Colby Covington said on the Patrick Bet David Podcast. “He’s my biggest role model, he’s my mentor, and he’s someone that I really look up to, so I try and model my career after a lot of things that he’s done.”

“I definitely would like to run for Congress in a few years, I think I’d be the perfect fighter,” Colby Covington explained. I’m not a guy that’s going to sell out to the establishment. I’m a self-made man from nothing. I came from a blue-collar family in Oregon who had absolutely nothing, who lived in trailer parks, now I’m a mult-million dollar athlete, so I think that I can do great things for this Republican and Conversative movement because they don’t have the funds and means to do it. I appreciate everything Donald Trump’s done for me, I’m a true believer, I’ll die fighting for that man.”

Colby Covington blames allegiance to Donald Trump for UFC 296 loss they're stacking the deck against us

Colby Covington claims that his support for former United Saed President Donald Trump impacted the judges decision in his fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 296.

After some personal trash talk at the expense of Edwards, Colby Covington would deliver a flat performance in what was his third attempt at an undisputed title. Rather than taking the loss on the chin and showing even an ounce of humility, Covington instead opted to do what he normally does and blame everyone but himself

Colby Covington using Donald Trump as the latest excuse

Appearing on the conservative Fox News, Covington discussed his loss and claimed the he was at a disadvantage heading into the bout because he was a staunch supporter of Trump.

“I think they stacked the deck against us because they don’t want we the people to have control over this country again,” “That’s what Trump stands for, he stands for democracy, he stands for freedom. They’re going to do everything they can to keep us down from shadow banning us online even if we’re saying the truth.

“They’re going to make us censored,” he continued. “They’re not gong to let the people see that. In any type of athletic or sporting event, they’re going to stack the deck against us.

Who does Covington mean by ‘they’? Is he insinuating that the democratic elites teamed up with the Nevada State athletic Commission to thwart his title chances?

Covington was an elite fighter at one point but considering his talent, his career has been underwhelming. Covington has been plagued with inactivity and when he did fight, it was largely overshadowed by his attempts to take on a professional wrestling type persona.

Now 35, the best of Covington is behind him and with ‘claims’ like this despite MMA having a very large conversative following, is just a little sad.
