UFC Stars Conor McGregor, Colby Covington, and More Attend Trump's Inauguration

A whole host of UFC stars were on hand to witness the inaugural of President-elect Donald Trump on Monday.

Trump secured his second term as President of the United States in November with a landslide victory over Kamala Harris. Throughout his campaign, UFC notables like Colby Covington, Jon Jones, Jorge Masvidal, and CEO Dana White all expressed their support for the business mogul turned political icon. So it should come as no surprise that a majority of them were on hand in Washington D.C. to see ’45’ take his rightful place as ’47.’

Spotted standing between former U.S. presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama was Dana White, a longtime friend and supporter of Trump who had spoken at a rally just hours before the inauguration.

Also there was Joe Rogan, the longtime UFC color commentator who hosted Trump on his popular JRE podcast weeks before election night. Before that, Rogan had long declined to have Trump appear on his program, but since sitting down with the POTUS, the former Fear Factor host appears to be all in on the ‘DJT’ hype train.

And, of course, you can’t have a Trump inauguration without one of his most staunch supporters, three-time UFC title challenger Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington.

Also making their way to the festivities were Jake and Logan Paul who found themselves hitching a ride with none other than Irish megastar and former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor.

Check out McGregor’s comments while attending Monday’s inauguration ceremony below:

“Amazing to be here. I’m very excited; very optimistic about the future,” McGregor said during a media scrum. “And it’s a good time here in the United States. I was here the last time Donald Trump became president in 2016. And the energy and the response is night and day, which is a testament to how he’s done as a president, his last run, and how he’s handled himself since.”

McGregor also met up with political commentator Ben Shapiro at the event.

If you missed any of the festivities, you can watch the entire Trump inauguration online via YouTube and through various streaming sources, including Hulu and Disney+.

Sean Strickland Attacks Donald Trump Aide Vivek Ramaswamy Over Immigrants and Billionaires

Sean Strickland clapped back at Donald Trump aide Vivek Ramaswamy after the outspoken conservative from Ohio commented on America’s alleged tendency to embrace mediocrity over excellence.

Ramaswamy, who founded the pharmaceutical company Roivant Services in 2014 and has a reported net worth of a billion dollars, recently offered his take on why tech companies are more inclined to hire foreign-born engineers over Americans.

According to Ramaswamy, the American culture has “venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long.”

“A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers,” he wrote.

Ramaswamy then proceeded to try and further make his case by pointing to a slew of 30-year-old sitcoms from ABC’s lineup of TGIF programming.

“A culture that venerates Cory from ‘Boy Meets World,’ or Zack & Slater over Screech in ‘Saved by the Bell,’ or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in ‘Family Matters,’ will not produce the best engineers.”

To be fair, Zack Morris went on to become the Governor of California while both Corey Matthews and AC Slater became teachers at their respective alma maters. And Laura Winslow ultimately chose Steve Urkel over ‘Stefan.’

So there goes your entire argument, Mr. Ramaswamy.

Respectfully, Sean Strickland disagrees

Responding to Ramaswamy’s post, the former UFC middleweight champion placed the blame squarely on the shoulders of billionaires like him who have made life harder for blue-collar American families by importing labor to reduce overhead costs and hoarding their profits instead of putting that money back into the economy.

“Billionaires are the problem.. You put profits over people and patriotism,” Strickland wrote on X. “I’m not religious but if there ever was a devil he works through big business. Imported labor, devalued wages, hoard money. Absolutely ruined the family unit for profit. Massive wage gaps Parents work 20 hours a day and then say “go put your kids in science camp.”

“You’re so out of touch with the reality and struggles of what a family goes through…. The level of manipulation and brain washing that billionaires have infected this country with…. You’re the problem…”

On November 12, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump announced that Ramaswamy and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk had been tasked to lead the newly proposed Department of Government Efficiency. The goal of the DOGE is to restructure the U.S. federal government by removing regulations to reduce expenditures and increase government efficiency.

Despite displaying his disdain for billionaires, Strickland seems plenty excited to see Musk — the richest man in the world — completely “gut the government” once Trump is sworn back into the White House on January 20.

Jon Jones' 2024 Highlights: Battling Before Donald Trump

For Jon Jones, fighting in front of President-elect Donald Trump was bigger than besting the best heavyweight in mixed martial arts history.

Though he only fought once in 2024, it was another big year for the consensus GOAT punctuated by his dominant victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 inside the world’s most famous arena — Madison Square Garden. On that night, Trump finished the former two-time titleholder via a third-round TKO.

But what made it all the more special for ‘Bones’ was the presence of Trump who sat cageside just days after locking up his re-election.

Immediately following the win, ‘Bones’ hopped the cage wall and handed his UFC title to Trump, much to the chagrin of some fight fans and the delight of others.

Looking back on the year, Jones expressed gratitude for another ride around the sun and those who stood by his side along the way.

“Man, 2024… what a year,” Jones wrote on X. “I’ve gotta say, this one’s been special. It’s been full of challenges, blessings, and opportunities, and I’m just beyond grateful for the ride. None of it would’ve been possible without the people who’ve been rockin’ with me through it all—my family, my team, my coaches, and, of course, all of y’all who support me every step of the way.

“This year, I leveled up in ways I never thought possible — on the mat, in the Octagon, on the screen, and most importantly, as a man and a father. That doesn’t happen without a strong foundation, and y’all have been that for me. So, from the bottom of my heart — thank you. The love and energy you give me push me to keep going and striving for greatness. And trust me when I say this — this is just the beginning. Let’s keep building. God bless!”

Jon Jones shares his biggest accomplishments of the year

‘Bones’ followed that up with a list sharing the things he was most thankful for in 2024, the first being his opportunity to fight — and win — in front of our 47th President of the United States.

“It feels amazing to look back at the last year and make a list of achievements like that,” Jones concluded. “I’m sure if I spent more time on it, I’d realize just how many things I left out. Now, I’m excited to start writing down some New Year’s resolutions and even more excited to see the list of things I accomplish after 2025.”

Jones also spent a large chunk of his year traveling to countries like Mexico, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand where he shared his expertise in MMA.

Personally, that sounds a lot cooler than fighting in front of a 34-time convicted felon, but to each their own.

Khamzat Chimaev Calls Out UFC's Dricus Du Plessis—With Donald Trump

Khamzat Chimaev is coming for Dricus Du Plessis’ middleweight title, and the Chechen is getting a little help from President-elect Donald Trump … Sort of.

Following his dominant first-round submission victory over Robert Whittaker in Abu Dhabi, fans are clamoring for ‘Borz’ to get his first shot at UFC gold.

Khamzat Chimaev

Unfortunately, Chimaev will have to get in line as Dana White has already promised the next title opportunity to ex-champion Sean Strickland. Of course, that won’t stop Chimaev from shooting his shot on social media.

Recently, the undefeated Chimaev took to X and tagged Du Plessis in a post featuring an image of Trump pointing his finger.

Khamzat Chimaev

A little odd seeing a Chechen fighter who lives in the Middle East calling out a South African with a picture of a former and soon-to-be President of the United States, but you do you, Chimaev.

‘The Reaper’ thinks Khamzat chimaev should walk straight into a title fight

Originally, the plan was for ‘DDP’ to put his title on the line against Strickland in a rematch of the UFC 297 clash that saw Du Plessis escape with a win and the belt via a somewhat questionable split decision. By all accounts, that still seems to be the plan, but White recently confirmed that Chimaev plans on competing for the middleweight title in 2025.

The only question is, will it be before or after Strickland’s promised shot?

Khamzat Chimaev

If you ask Robert Whittaker, the answer is pretty clear.

“I’m interested to see what he does next,” Whittaker said on The MMArcade podcast. “I think he’s going to be a nightmare for a lot of the dudes in the top five because I don’t know how you stop that takedown? I think he should go straight to Dricus. I don’t think sitting out should be rewarded ever. But it’s not my call, not my decision.”

Dana White Bows Out of Politics After Donald Trump’s Victory ‘It’s gross. It’s disgusting.’

UFC President Dana White will not be continuing his efforts to support Donald Trump publicly now that the campaign has wrapped up. The UFC and its stakeholders, such as Joe Rogan, were a cornerstone of the 2024 Donald Trump election, but Dana White is done with it all.

Dana White Done with Donald Trump

Dana White and Donald Trump’s friendship goes back some time. When the sport of MMA was outlawed at the turn of the century, most states did not allow the sport to happen. However, Donald Trump was willing to open his casino doors to the fledgling organization. Trump was once an enemy of the UFC when he was the shareholder behind rival MMA company Affliction, which was operated alongside Saint Petersburg’s M-1 and Michael Cohen.

But time heals all wounds because once Trump was back on the campaign trail, the UFC was there for him. Dana White would walk out with Trump during UFC events with the camera on him. On election night, White was alongside Trump and Elon Musk during the evening’s festivities. Dana White spoke that night and thanked Joe Rogan, UFC commentator for his vital support. Rogan welcomed Trump onto his podcast, which is the most listened-to talk show worldwide.

New York’s Donald Trump has an estimated net worth valued between three and ten billion dollars. Joe Rogan is said to have a net worth of $200m. Dana White has an annual salary of $20m and an estimated net worth of $500m with a partial ownership of the UFC. The rest of the UFC is owned by multi-national trillion-dollar private equity firms Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Silver Lake Partners, along with Endeavor which is a sports and talent agency.

With the election campaign wrapped up, Dana White is done with politics. At a UFC event, alongside Donald Trump, White spoke to The New Yorker and explained:

“I’m never f*ing doing this again. I want nothing to do with this s*. It’s gross. It’s disgusting. I want nothing to do with politics.” White added some ring kissing just for good measure, “Donald Trump is tougher and more badass than anybody.”
