Jake Paul has clapped back at boxing promoter to the stars, Eddie Hearn. Hearn, who promotes the likes of Anthony Joshua and Canelo Álvarez, has in the past consistently levelled one piece of criticism at YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul—that’s he’s an average fighter. Hearn maintains that it isn’t in fact an insult, but somehow, a compliment. Well,…
The mystery opponent for Jake Paul’s next fight might be revealed. Jake Paul has his next boxing match set but is keeping the details under wraps. He did announce that his next appearance in the squared circle would be on Aug. 13, however, he did not update the public on who he will be facing…
In the past few months, Paul was rumored to have a few different possible opponents. He had a short public feud with former UFC champion Michael Bisping. Some thought that Bisping, who is retired from fighting, could be making a comeback and taking on the YouTuber turned boxer.
Paul had made his way in the boxing world by challenging and beating former MMA fighters. Bisping could have fit in nicely with this niche. However, Bisping does not seem interested in fighting again.
Another former MMA fighter who is actually very interested in giving Paul a run for his money is Anderson Silva. Silva has recently made his way to boxing and has found success there after a long and accomplished MMA career. Although this matchup seems intriguing to many, it seems that is not the path Paul is on at this time.
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn let the cat out of the bag in a recent interview, stating that it would be Tommy Fury standing across the ring from Paul in August.
“I don’t represent them, but I hear that fight [Paul vs Fury] is happening Aug. 13, so you might see it,” Hearn said in an interview with TalkSPORT via MMA Mania. “Both are very limited, but as long as it’s a competitive fight, it doesn’t really matter.”

Eddie Hearn discussed why he would like to see a matchup between Conor McGregor and Jake Paul.
This past weekend, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn made history with Paul as they put on the first-ever female main event at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Hearn was promoting the Irish pioneer Katie Taylor while Paul was on team Amanda Serrano in their lightweight title showdown.
In a close-fought contest that had the fans on their feet over the ten rounds, Taylor managed to bag the win over Serrano after being wobbled in the fifth round. While Serrano officially lost the match, it was an event where there were no winners. Paul and her will go down in history books for the historic event they put on.
In an appearance on The MMA Hour post-fight, Eddie Hearn discussed his exchanges with ‘The Problem Child’ leading up to the fight. The two were bashing each other in the build-up and even made a bet of $1 million dollars before the fight. It seems like the two have put their differences to the side as Hearn heaped praises on the YouTube sensation.
When asked by Ariel Helwani about the idea of Paul facing ‘The Notorious One’, Hearn stated.
“I still like Conor McGregor against Jake Paul, but I mean, Conor is looking big these days.
“I don’t want to disrespect Conor because I really like him, but it’s the size that’s the problem. You know? Jake can fight, he’s explosive, can punch a little bit. But a lot of people don’t know, Conor was a decent amateur fighter, he does have good boxing fundamentals, much better than most mixed martial artists.”
“Nakisa [Bidarian] mentioned it to me, he said, what about Taylor/Serrano and Conor McGregor against Jake Paul? Same night.” (h/t GiveMeSport)
How likely is Conor McGregor to face Jake Paul?
After being sidelined for about a year from a horrific leg break he suffered in his last outing against Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor looks to make his return to fighting this year. ‘The Mystic Mac’ has expressed his desire to fight current UFC welterweight king Kamaru Usman as well as a fourth fight with Poirier or a third fight with Nate Diaz.
McGregor is also called out by many fighters on the UFC roster who are more than happy to cash in on the payday. Amidst so many possibilities for his next opponent, Jake Paul does not seem to be a practical one. For one, UFC president Dana White will not be willing to work with Paul after the disparaging comments he made and also White’s sour history with cross-promotion.
As much as Hearn would like to see the fight happen, he echoes a similar sentiment.
“I’d like to see it. I just can’t see Conor and ultimately Dana, really, Dana is not gonna do a deal with Jake Paul.”
Do you agree with Eddie Hearn and want to see Conor McGregor take on Jake Paul?

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn came face to face with Jake Paul prior to tomorrow night’s blockbuster women’s boxing match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, and there were some interesting takeaways from the interaction.
Tomorrow night, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will compete in a historic women’s bout when the two women become the first females to headline a boxing event in Madison Square Garden.
In one corner, Ireland’s Katie Taylor enters the fight with a perfect record of 20-0. She is represented by her promoter, Eddie Hearn.
In the other corner is Amanda Serrano, a fighter with twice the experience of Taylor with a pro record of 42-1-1. The Puerto Rican scrapper is represented by “The Problem Child” Jake Paul.
Yesterday, a press conference was held to help promote the event, and that promotion has continued with a face-to-face interview between Hearn and Paul, moderated by MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.
Here are some of the biggest notes from the interview:
Hearn calls Paul an average fight but insists that is a compliment, not an insult
Jake Paul’s girlfriend dislikes Eddie Hearn
Jake Paul has a picture of Eddie Hearn on his wall in his gym in Puerto Rico for motivation
Eddie Hearn says Jake Paul is no longer a YouTube boxer but an authentic boxer
Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul made a wager for $1 million. Hearn gets $1 million from Paul if Taylor wins; Paul gets $1 million from Hearn if Serrano wins
Paul said he would give Serrano the $1 million if he wins the bet
Paul claims he’d fight any of Hearn’s fighters that are under 10-0
But perhaps the most memorable moment came when Hearn opened the door to a potential fight against Paul. You can view the transcript from that exchange below.
Eddie Hearn: “It’s a shame I can’t fight because it would do big numbers,” the 42-year-old Hearn said about a hypothetical fight between him and Paul.
[PAUL LAUGHS]
Eddie Hearn: “Oh, massive!… In the UK, there’s so many people that want to see me get knocked out. It would do like $2 million pay-per-view buys in the UK. And if I lose the bet, then I’ll take $10 million to fight Jake Paul, and I just take the UK pay-per-view. He can have all the other revenue around the world.”
Hearn went on to say there was a stage that he thinks he would’ve easily beaten Jake Paul. Now, he’s not so sure. Paul then shared some brief thoughts on how he believes the fight would play out if it ever happened.
Jake Paul: “You know if we fought, it’d be 30 seconds…”
Eddie Hearn: “I disagree.”
Jake Paul: “30 seconds.”
Eddie Hearn: It would be a big favor. I’m terrible. But like I said, for $10 mill, I’d do it.”
Neither man appeared to take this “potential” bout seriously at all and Hearn’s remarks seemed to be made in a tongue-in-cheek manner, but you can judge for yourself by checking out the face-to-face interview below.

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has so much respect for UFC President Dana White that he can’t say he’s a better combat sports promoter than him.
Hearn recently joined Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hourto talk about several topics. During the interview, Helwani told Hearn he thinks he’s the best promoter in combat sports and asked if he agrees. Hearn responded by saying, he undoubtedly believes he’s the best promoter in boxing but also admitted that he can’t truly say he’s a better promoter than White.
“I sometimes read that you don’t have a great relationship with Dana White,” Hearn said. “I don’t really know the background, but what I’m saying is: I’m not in awe of Dana White, but I have huge respect for him as a promoter. So if you say to me, ‘Are you the best promoter in boxing?’ — it’s not even close.
“Genuinely not even close. But Dana White, I see as a trailblazer in terms of promotion. And not just as a promoter, but in terms of the business, the brand, the way that that sport, or that brand, has penetrated the global combat market.
“So, for me to not answer that question with an ‘absolutely I am’ is a massive credit to Dana White because my ego is out of control. So I can’t sit here and say I’m a better promoter than Dana White, because I don’t know. The proof is in the pudding in terms of the growth that business has had.”
There’s no question that White is one of the greatest promoters of all time. He has helped take the UFC from a small promotion to, not only making the UFC a household name, but making the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) a worldwide phenomenon. White also has his fingerprints on some of the biggest stars the sporting world has ever seen, such as Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey, Chuck Liddell, Georges St-Pierre; and more.
And if his attitude is anything to be considered, he’s nowhere near done yet.
What do you think about Eddie Hearn not being able to say he’s a better promoter than White? Who do you think is the better promoter of the two? Let us know in the comments!

Ahead of this weekend’s massive lightweight professional boxing showdown between world champion, Katie Taylor, and challenger, Amanda Serrano – event promoters, undefeated boxer, Jake Paul, and Matchroom promoter, Eddie Hearn have agreed to a whopping $1,000,000 bet on the outcome of the high-profile New York showdown.
Set to headline at Madison Square Garden, Katie Taylor, boasting an undefeated, 20-0 professional record, attempts to successfully defend the WBA, WBC, IFB, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles as she clashes with WBC and WBO featherweight best, the 42-1-1 challenger, Serrano.
The event, which has been promoted by the aforenoted Matchroom leader, Hearn – who represents, Katie Taylor, and Paul – who heads up MVP representing Serrano, also comes with quite the sizable bet between the two promoters – who have agreed to a $1,000,000 wager on the monumental championship clash.
During this week’s press conference in The Big Apple, Paul wagered a potential bet of all the jewellery he was sporting on stage, before Hearn retorted, and offered a $500,000 bet – which was met, and raised by Paul to $1,000,000. Contemplating the offer for a moment, Hearn agreed to the bet – shaking hands, before Paul claimed that should he win the wager, he would be issuing the prize money to Serrano.
Defending champion, Katie Taylor enters her clash with Amanda Serrano as a betting underdog
Bray native, Taylor, 35, who scooped gold at the London 2012 Summer Olympic games, most recently competed against Firuza Sharipova in December of last year, scoring a unanimous decision win over the course of 10 rounds to retain her above mentioned lightweight crowns. Taylor also holds a victory over Serrano’s sister, Cindy Serrano – securing a 2018 decision win in Boston, Massachusetts.
Puerto Rico native, Serrano has competed professionally since 2009, and had featured as a professional mixed martial artist on three occasions, landing an undefeated 2-0-1 record. In her most recent outing, Serrano defeat Miriam Gonzalez with a unanimous decision win in December of last year in a non-title bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
