SEATTLE – We’re having a pleasant little breakfast when Phil Davis offers to “dislocate” his nose. No big deal, he says. Just a trick of the cartilage that leaves it looking twisted and mangled and, well, awesome.

It’s a great party trick he’s developed over the years thanks to old wrestling injuries and the peculiarities of his personal physiology and hey, as long as we’re just sitting here, would I like to see it?

Answer: of course I would.

So Davis puts both hands up to his nose, feeling around for just the right spot, then crack. The sound is like someone snapping a pencil in half.

‘Oh no,’ he says into his hands. ‘Yep, I’m bleeding. Uh-oh.’

Cung Le has been less and less visible in the MMA world over recent months. He’s fought just twice in the last three years, splitting a pair of memorable matches with Scott Smith.

Le was a building block of Strikeforce’s early success, but these days, fans are more likely to ask if he’s retired rather than who he might be fighting next. Though we haven’t seen him in the cage since a June 2010 win over the aforementioned Smith, he hasn’t just been sitting around getting out of shape. In fact, he’s been quite busy making movies in both the U.S. and Hong Kong.

Whether or not the 38-year-old returns to compete under the Strikeforce banner remains to be seen, but company CEO Scott Coker told MMA Fighting that he plans to talk to Le in the coming days and find out just what his fighting future holds, or if he has one at all.

Greg Jackson may be committed to staying neutral when former teammates Jon Jones and Rashad Evans fight over the UFC light heavyweight belt, but striking coach Mike Winkeljohn is making no such promise.

A former kickboxing champion who has for the last four years taught striking out of Jackson’s Albuquerque, New Mexico-based gym, Winkeljohn said he doesn’t feel the need to stay out of the forthcoming title fight.

“I’m positive I’m going to be working with Jon Jones because, well, the kid didn’t do anything wrong,” Winkeljohn told MMA Fighting. “We have a good relationship.”

As for Evans? He might feel as though he’s been betrayed by the Jackson’s MMA team, but the way Winkeljohn sees it, Evans is expecting a loyalty that he hasn’t demonstrated himself.

Considering how much Sean McCorkle talked prior to his UFC 124 fight against Stefan Struve last year, it was a little surprising to see “Big Sexy” remain relatively quiet in the weeks leading up to his UFC Fight Night 24 fight against Christian Morecraft.

Sure, there were a few tweets and videos posted, but nothing close to the verbal assault he unleashed on Struve.

“I really just didn’t want to go into reruns,” McCorkle (10-1) said on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour. “I didn’t want to do the same thing I did last time. I think you and I talked about that, how it might wear thin.”
