Dana White Says Conor McGregor’s Tweet About UFC 200 Return Isn’t True

It looks like Conor McGregor and Dana White have different opinions regarding McGregor’s status for the upcoming UFC 200 event in July.

McGregor tweeted on Sunday evening that he was back on the UFC 200 card, thanking White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta for coming through for the fans.

According to the UFC President, however, that is simply not true. White recently spoke with the Los Angeles Times website about McGregor’s claim that he is back on the UFC 200 lineup.

White informed the L.A. Times website via text message that McGregor’s tweet is “not true.”

White added, “We haven’t talked [to] Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don’t know why he would tweet that.”

UFC 200 is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On Friday, UFC held a special “launch event” for this year’s International Fight Week in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The press conference promoted the shows that are scheduled for International Fight Week, including UFC 200, The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale and UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez.

During the press event on Friday, UFC made some new announcements regarding the landmark UFC 200 event scheduled for July 9th at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As noted, UFC pulled the originally scheduled main event between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz for UFC 200 when McGregor refused to meet his promotional requirements for the event.

UFC President Dana White introduced videos to promote each event, with Rafael dos Anjos vs. Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight title being advertised for the UFC Fight Night event scheduled for International Fight Week and Joanna Jędrzejczyk and Cláudia Gadelha for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title for the TUF 23 Finale event.

For UFC 200, White introduced multiple videos to promote the event, including video features on Cain Velasquez vs. Travis Browne, Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title, Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar for the interim UFC Featherweight Title and then we were given a partial update on plans for the main event.

White addressed the fact that everyone knows what has been going on with Conor McGregor before informing the fans and media in attendance that Nate Diaz still wants to fight at UFC 200 and that the promotion is still working on getting him a new opponent.
