In 2008, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was the pound-for-pound boxing king. And at the time, there were rumors floating around that he was flirting with the idea of entering into the MMA fighting world. Mayweather Sr. did not pull any punches when addressing this topic in an interview with FightHype.com.

“All of this he talking about right now, this martial arts shit, I’m telling you, he about to get broke the fuck up right now,” Mayweather Sr. said. “I’m telling you, he could forget all of that stuff being cute and how you supposed to hit somebody with a check hook. Man, them motherfucker’s going to take that check hook motherfucker and squeeze your guts out. I’m just being real with you man.”

Nearly 10 years after these quotes were made, Mayweather teased an MMA fight with Conor McGregor during the MayMac fight promotion. That never happened, and the only crossover to take place was from MMA to boxing, with McGregor leading the charge for others to follow or attempt to follow.

Mayweather retired from the sport of boxing with a professional record of 50-0. The final win on that record came against McGregor himself. Had Mayweather decided to fight in MMA, his father believed that combat sports record wouldn’t have been flawless anymore.

“If he ever want to take a motherfuckin’ loss, you bout to take one right now motherfucker,” Mayweather Sr. said. “Go ahead and try that. One of them motherfuckers grab you and bing, bing…hit the floor twice motherfucker and it’s over with.”

“Lil Floyd about to get his ass tore up man. He ain’t about to whoop them motherfuckers. He can forget that shit!”

Mayweather Sr. would continue having a field day at the thought of his son competing in MMA, essentially roasting the very thought of Floyd Mayweather the MMA fighter.

“Man, let me tell you something, they don’t even need a referee for this shit right here. They ain’t going to need a referee because he’s going to tap his own self out if he’s able,” Mayweather Sr. continued.

“They going to break his fucking limbs. One of them motherfuckers hit him upside his fucking head and he may never be the same. I’m just telling the truth.”

“He ain’t got to worry about retiring. When they get through with his ass, he will be retired. He will be retired fucking with them motherfuckers. They would love to fight him. This ain’t no fucking boxing; ain’t none of these motherfuckers scared of his ass. I’ll fight one of them motherfuckers if they just want to throw their guards up.

“I’m old and I’ll beat they ass, but when they start talking about that going to the ground, elbows and knees and all of that, man fuck that shit. I ain’t about to go in there. Them motherfuckers dangerous man. One thing about it, them guys can take a fucking punch man. Those guys will laugh at Lil Floyd when he hit them.”

How do you think Floyd Mayweather Jr. would have fared in MMA? Do you think it would have been as bad as Mayweather Sr. thought it would be in 2008?

Boxing commentator Teddy Atlas has reflected on the Conor McGregor/Floyd Mayweather crossover fight and gives the Irishman credit for his performance in his boxing debut.

McGregor had his moments early in the ‘money fight’ against Mayweather, landing a few power punches and landing over 110 total strikes on the boxing Hall of Famer. Many pundits, including ESPN’s Max Kellerman, predicted that McGregor wouldn’t land a punch on Mayweather.

Despite faltering in the later rounds and losing via TKO, McGregor impressed many in his first appearance in the boxing ring. During a recent interview with The Schmo, Atlas admitted that McGregor had the early advantage over Mayweather as he was scoring the fight.

“I was there for ESPN calling the fights, and I was there with the great Chael Sonnen sitting ringside and after four rounds he was ahead,” Atlas said of McGregor. “He’s a southpaw, he’s got long arms, he’s a counter puncher and he was staying outside with the counter punching, using his reach, using his jab.” (h/t The Mirror)

“Four rounds, he was ahead. But then, of course, Mayweather did what he had to do in his realm to break him down, and he did, and he got to him.”

Conor McGregor Has Hinted At A Return To Boxing

McGregor’s defeat to Mayweather may not be the only boxing match of his combat sports career. Earlier this year, he had allegedly been close to signing off on a deal to box Manny Pacquiao, before negotiations fell through. McGregor went on to return to the UFC and lose back-to-back fights to Dustin Poirier.

McGregor and Mayweather have both teased the potential of a rematch in the future, although it remains unlikely that Mayweather will end his retirement.

In the meantime, McGregor is in the middle of his preparation for a comeback to the octagon next year. He’s looking to erase his recent struggles and get back on track in MMA.

Professional boxer and YouTube content creator, Logan Paul has claimed that former multiple-time and weight boxing champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr. still owes him money from his fight purse following the pair’s June exhibition boxing match.

Paul, the elder brother of fellow professional boxer and content creator, Jake Paul, boasts a 0-1 professional boxing record, dropping a split decision rematch loss to fellow YouTuber KSI back in November 2019.

No official victor was announced from Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather’s June exhibition bout

Matching with the retired Mayweather for a summer exhibition boxing match, Paul headlined the card against the Grand Rapids native from the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida – battling over the course of eight, three-minute rounds in the exhibition bout, where no official winner of the bout was announced or considered. Per the CompuBox stats, Mayweather landed at a 40.2 per cent clip (43 punches from 103 thrown), while Paul managed a 12.9 per cent success rate (28 punches from 217 thrown).

Whilst Mayweather praised Ohio native, Paul’s ability inside the squared circle following the bout during his post-fight press conference, the latter reluctantly admitted that he would be returning him questioning himself if the former undisputed world champion had allowed him to survive the eight round limit.

Posting a recent story on Instagram, however, Logan Paul has now claimed that Mayweather along with his promotion still owe him money following their June exhibition boxing match.

Pay me my money your f*cking cornball of a human,” Logan Paul said in relation to his summer exhibition boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. (H/T MMANews)

Paul’s most recent appearance near the squared circle came earlier this month where he attended the professional boxing match between his aforenoted brother, Jake Paul, and former undisputed UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley.

Paul would go on to score his second career victory over Woodley in the ‘Sunshine State’, stopping the St. Louis native with a thunderous sixth round one-punch knockout.

Floyd Mayweather, Logan Paul

There might’ve not been an official winner in the Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather bout earlier this year, but Paul claims he’s the financial loser.

Paul and Mayweather went the full eight rounds, with both having their moments in the ring. The bout wasn’t officially sanctioned due to the large size disparity between Paul and Mayweather, so the result was left in the hands of the viewers without an official judging decision.

Paul and Mayweather had quite the heated buildup to their exhibition, with the two sides nearly brawling at a pre-fight media day in Miami. But they appeared to squash their beef after the fight, with Mayweather going as far as to say he was impressed by Paul’s skills.

The mutual respect has appeared to run thin in recent days, as Paul accused Mayweather of failing to pay him his share for the event. He ripped the boxing legend in a recent Instagram Story post.

“Pay me my money you f***ing cornball of a human,” Paul said. (h/t The Mirror)

The Paul vs. Mayweather exhibition was a massive pay-per-view success, with the event topping at least 1 million buys on Showtime. After the fight, Mayweather seemed content on retirement and not making the Paul exhibition into a new chapter of his legendary career. He later claimed after the fight that he earned $100 million for the event.

Logan and his brother Jake took the boxing world by storm in 2021. Jake earned knockout wins over former UFC standouts Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, while Logan managed to go the distance against arguably the best boxer of all time.

It’s unclear if Paul’s allegations hold any merit, but it appears that the tension between Mayweather and the Paul brothers doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.

What are your thoughts on Logan Paul’s accusations?

One year prior to the blockbuster MayMac event, Conor McGregor was already calling his shot when envisioning a superbout against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

As we know, McGregor did not emerge victorious from this historic bout, but he no doubt picked up thousands if not millions of additional fans for his promotional work leading into the fight and his valiant effort inside the boxing ring.

Here is a look back to when McGregor was hyping up a boxing match that no one ever thought would or even could happen. Yet, McGregor was arguably the biggest driving force that made it a reality. And that, in itself, is a victory.

Headline: McGregor Posts Another Mayweather Tease: “I Am Going To Break His Face”

Author: Matt Boone

As 2016, one of the craziest years in MMA history, comes to an end, two-weight UFC World Champion Conor McGregor checks in with one last “Notorious” tweet to hype up the fantasy boxing match that fans are chomping at the bit for.

Featured below is the latest Twitter offering from UFC’s Irish-born mega-star. As seen in the tweet embedded below, McGregor posted a photo of himself wearing boxing gloves in a new split-screen shot that also features boxing’s pound-for-pound king, Floyd Mayweather.

The caption for the photo reads: “I am going to break his face.”

As noted, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor recently acquired his boxing license for the state of California. As Mayweather pointed out, this means very little, as “Money” Mayweather typically fights in Las Vegas, Nevada, a city that McGregor has claimed he will never fight in again after what he felt was unfair treatment he received as a result of his “Bottle Gate” fiasco with Nate Diaz ahead of their UFC 202 rematch earlier this year.

As 2017 approaches, the fight world continues to wait for any real sign that a McGregor-Mayweather showdown is possible. For now, we’ll have to continue to find enjoyment out of the small teases that both McGregor and Mayweather continue to strategically keep going in the media.

Off the back of a spectacular one-punch knockout win over former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley last weekend, Jake Paul has revealed his professional boxing bucket list – which features future fights with middleweight kingpin, Canelo Alvarez, as well as UFC president, Dana White.

Outspoken Ohio native, Paul, improved to 5-0 as a professional boxer last weekend in Tampa, Florida – stopping the aforenoted former UFC welterweight best, Woodley with a stunning sixth round knockout in the pair’s short-notice rematch under the Showtime banner.

Paul, who had previously defeated Woodley in close split decision showing back in April of this year, was slated to meet with the 7-0 Manchester native, Tommy Fury last weekend in the ‘Sunshine State’ – until the latter was forced to withdraw, citing a cold and a broken rib.

Following his jaw-dropping knockout win over Woodley, Paul immediately called for fights with more UFC welterweights; Jorge Masvidal, and Nate Diaz, as well as echoing calls for a fight with former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor.

Jake Paul plans fights with former and current world champions, as well as UFC president, Dana White

However, the 24-year-old Jake Paul released a five-man boxing bucket list today on his social media, which features the quintet of opponents; Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, and UFC leader, Dana White.

For Canelo, the Jalisco maestro boasts a 57-1-2 professional record, most recently stopping Caleb Plant with eleventh round strikes to clinch the IBF super middleweight title – as well as retaining his WBA, WBC, WBO super middleweight crowns.

Mayweather, a retired former multi-weight and multi-time world champion, retired from professional boxing back in August 2017 following a knockout win over the aforenoted, McGregor, however, returned for an exhibition boxing match with Jake Paul’s elder brother, Logan Paul earlier this year.

Similarly, Mike Tyson, a former heavyweight kingpin and one of the most feared strikers in the history of the sport, returned last year for an exhibition boxing match against Roy Jones Jr. – with an official result undetermined.

As for the elder-Fury brother, the undefeated 32-0-1 boxer is the current WBC heavyweight champion, most recently taking home a penultimate knockout win over Deontay Wilder back in October to retain his crown.

UFC president, White, has never competed professionally, however, was continually linked to a grudge match against former promotional light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz back in 2007, however, the bout failed to come to fruition.

Prior to last weekend’s win over Woodley, Jake Paul spoke in brash fashion about White, claiming that the longtime promotional president has both issues with cocaine and soliciting prostitutes.
