UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has given his take on the next big super fight in the promotion.

It’s been well documented that last week UFC President Dana White confirmed that they were planning Nate Diaz versus Georges St-Pierre for the upcoming UFC 227 pay-per-view event. This bout would serve as the co-main event of the show.

This did not sit well with Woodley, to say the least, who is coming off recent shoulder surgery but is back in the gym training.

The champ has stated publicly in the past that he doesn’t think there are any clear contenders in the division right now.

For months now, Woodley has been calling out the former UFC middleweight and welterweight champion because he sees that as a big fight and payday.

The welterweight champion is all about wanting to take money fights these days and has got into it publicly with White.

While Woodley is on the sidelines, the promotion is pushing forward with the division as they have already made an interim welterweight title bout that will see former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos take on Colby Covington at the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view event on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

There is also history between Woodley and Diaz. Just last year, there was a rumored fight between Diaz and the UFC welterweight champion at UFC 219. Obviously, that fight did not happen.

Woodley addressed this potential fight between Diaz and GSP on his show on TMZ Sports (via BJPenn.com) where he called both fighters out as he believes it’s the biggest bitch move on the planet.

“Let me say this in a very educated way: I think that those two guys ‘contemplating’ fighting is the hugest bitch move on the planet. If you’re going to be welterweight champion of the world and the lineal champion and you got the current champion constantly talking about fighting you, not only do you avoid fighting him and go up a weight class, now you’re gonna drop underneath him and fight underneath in a weight class that you’ve never fought in in your life.”

“Nate Diaz, I was gonna fight him without even having shoulder surgery. So the question mark to me is, are you fans really gonna keeping with these guys that claim they’ll fight anybody, anytime, and they’re constantly avoiding me.”

Nick Diaz Claims He Was Poisoned Before Georges St-Pierre Fight

Nick Diaz has an explanation for this allegation.

Nick Diaz has made an interesting claim regarding one of the biggest fights of his career.

Let’s start from the beginning when it all started once UFC President Dana White went on record last week by stating that the promotion had plans to make a fight between Georges St-Pierre and Nate Diaz for the upcoming UFC 227 pay-per-view event.

This led to Nate shutting that idea down once he took to Facebook and called the former welterweight and middleweight champion a “cheater.”

If you recall, this allegation started way back in 2016 when Nick mentioned the idea of “being drugged” before his fight with GSP.

This led to Nick’s trainer Richard Perez noting that a nurse from St-Pierre’s team gave Nick “some kind of stuff”.

GSP fought Nick back in 2013 at the UFC 158 pay-per-view event where he successfully defended his welterweight title by decision.

TMZ Sports recently caught up with Nick, who brought up the incident when asked about the rumored fight between Nate and GSP at the upcoming event.

“I think whoever tries to make that fight, I’m gonna have to give him a backhand slap,” the elder Diaz said (transcript courtesy of Bloody Elbow). “I fought the dude (St-Pierre), they poisoned my IV with some weird ass drug.

“I have 37 fights, been fighting for 17 years, I never slept more than five or six hours a night. (For that fight), I slept 14 hours, I’m like ‘what did you put in my IV, dude? I never had nothing but clear IV. And there was something wrong with his wraps.

“I was flat on the way out (and) I’m in the best shape of my life. Everything was strange.”

It’s still highly unclear whether or not former long-time UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will be returning to competitive fighting after vacating his title in 2013.

With the massive UFC 200 event approaching this July, however, one would have to assume that the UFC is attempting to lure one of their biggest stars back to the Octagon.

Ironically, St-Pierre’s long-time head coach Firas Zahabi took to twitter recently, suggesting that the Canadian superstar could make a return this summer.

After reports surfaced implying that fan favorite bad boy Nate Diaz had been interested in a bout with “Rush”, Zahabi threw out the idea of a potential showdown between the two at UFC 200:

Diaz’s stock has recently risen to new heights after the Stockton native scored the biggest win of his career on short notice last weekend (March 5, 2016), submitting Irish superstar the “Notorious” Conor McGregor in the second round.

St-Pierre has remained out of action since a highly controversial decision victory over Johny Hendricks back at UFC 167, but at age 34, a return is still a very real possibility.

The back story to this potential clash is there as well, as “Rush” has previously engaged in a bitter rival with Nate’s brother, Nick Diaz, which culminated in a one-sided St-Pierre win when the two met at UFC 158.

Would you like to see St-Pierre return, and attempt to complete the sweep over the Diaz brothers?
