ONE Championship featherweight, Phoe ‘Bushido’ Thaw has allegedly been kidnapped by the military of Myanmar from a hospital after he was injured in a bomb blast in the city of Yangon.

Thaw, who was admitted to the North Okkalpa General Hospital, was receiving treatment for his injuries amid the bomb explosion, which was one of three in Yangon, with images showing notable burns to the lower body of the ONE Championship feature.

The 36-year-old last featured at ONE Championship: Century – Part I — suffering an opening round rear-naked choke against Chang Min Yoon — snapping his two-fight winning spree.

The country of Myanmar is reportedly experiencing a period of massive civil unrest as the military seized control of the country with a military coup on the 1st of February this year. Per a report from Asian MMA — 776 protestors and bystanders have been killed by the military and police in Myanmar during the period, with a further 3,000 persons detained.

In a Facebook post this afternoon by Matias Anders, he revealed that Thaw, along with his brothers, as well as Myanmar footballer, Ko Kaung SiThu have allegedly been kidnapped by the military from the North Okkalpa General Hospital.

Stay strong Phoe Thaw,” The post read. “As many of you might know by now, ONE Championship athlete, Phoe Thaw was seriously injured during a series of explosions at in (sic) Yangon, Myanmar around 10 pm last night.

Phoe Thaw was badly hurt and was taken to a nearby hospital to treat his severe burn injuries,” Andres wrote. “There are pictures showing his wounds, they are truly heartbreaking.

Despite his critical condition, the military entered the hospital and kidnapped him. The military have also abducted Phoe Thaw’s brothers, among them Myanmar national team football player, Ko Kaung SiThu.

These are not a random series of events, these are targeted attacks against people that have been vocal and publicly criticised the military.

Phoe Thaw used his platform to shed a light on the injustices in his country, just as he used his platform to inspire people through martial arts.

Attached, an interview where Thaw explained how Myanmar wanted a “democracy, not dictatorship.

We want democracy, not dictatorship,” Thaw said. “(The military) do whatever they want — they break their own rules, their own laws because they have guns. They kidnapped the whole of Myanmar.

We’re not coming out onto the road to fight, we just want, peacefully, to get back to our freedom, our democracy, our justice,” Thaw said. “Our belief and spirit are mentally very, very strong. Stronger than the dictators.

According to Andres, Thaw has been charged with Penal Code 505A — and has been branded as a “criminal

The military have charged him with Penal Code 505A, which means that they are trying to brand him as a criminal and unlawful person.

This is far from the truth, and anybody who knows him also knows of his kind spirit, despite his power in the cage,” Andres wrote.

As of now, we don’t know where Phoe Thaw is or his current situation. But if it is not good. Right now, we just have to hope for the best for our friend.

Please share his story so that Phoe Thaw’s story is heard around the world and his actions are not being silenced or forgotten.

Proximo Spirits have become the majority stakeholder in former two-weight UFC champion, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor’s whiskey brand, Proper Twelve — in a deal estimated to be worth in excess of a cool $600 million.
The 32-year-old Crumlin native is set to remain as a face for the brand as well as remaining in an ownership position.

According to The Mac Life, the agreement struck is considered to be a re-evaluation of a prior arrangement between the two.

Mike Keyes, the CEO of Proximo Spirits released a statement to Shanken News Daily, claiming that the brand continues to grow and develop at an “unprecedented” rate, labeling the whiskey as the most exciting to come from Ireland.

Since introducing this brand with Conor (McGregor) and his partners just two and a half years ago, Proper No. Twelve has been the most exciting brand in the Irish whiskey category.” Keyes explained. “The brand continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, and this agreement reflects Proximo’s commitment to expanding its presence in the whiskey category as a whole.

As per McGregor’s business partner, Ken Austin, the former featherweight and lightweight champion is “very, very fixated” on Proper Twelve becoming a multi-million case brand.

It’s hard to predict how long it’s going to take, but I’m looking at a million cases and saying that’s a starting point for this brand,” Austin said. “Conor is very, very fixated on this being a multi-million case brand. I wouldn’t count him out ever.

In a statement provided to The Mac Life by McGregor himself, the Dubliner explained how he wants to take Proper Twelve to the “pinnacle” of all spirits, not only whiskey.

Proper Twelve is my baby for life!” McGregor said. “I’m only warming up the barrels here. What I have in store for you all will not only take Proper Twelve to the absolute pinnacle of Irish whiskey, but of all spirits.

Triller Fight Club has filed a lawsuit citing alleged $100 million in damages in California, against illegal streamers of their April 17. Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren event from the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

In an official statement emailed to MMA Fighting, the promotion alleged that eleven illegal streamers broadcasted the event, which was headlined by a professional boxing match between polarizing YouTuber, Jake Paul, and UFC alum, one-time Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight best, Ben Askren. Yahoo! Sports was first to report the news of the promotion’s filed lawsuit.

The lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the city of California has cited damages against eleven total websites, one hundred unnamed persons with two million total illegal streams. The damages cited are $100 million, in which Triller claim was revenue lost.

It’s shocking to think a theft so grand can be done so blatantly and brazenly and steal with no remorse,” the statement provided to MMA Fighting read. “There is zero difference between what they did and walking into a market, stealing tones of a product and selling it at a discount in the parking lot. It’s neither civilly nor criminally any different and we are prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law.

There were far over two million illegal streams, akin to hundreds of millions of dollars. Sites, mostly using Google’s YouTube such as FILMDAILY.COM, ACCESSTVPRO.CO, enONLINE2LIVESTREAM.US, CRACKSTREAMSLIVE.COM, SPORTS-TODAY.CLUB, MY-SPORTS.CLUB, BILASPORT.COM, TRENDY CLIPS, MIKE, YOUR EXTRA, ECLIPT GAMING, ITSLILBRANDON, and others are causing significant damage not just to (Triller) Fight Club but content creators overall.

People put a lot of hard work, time and money into creating a product for the consumer and having it stolen and resold is terribly damaging,” the statement continues. “The good nes is they are not protected by VPN masking or other firewalls as their activites are criminal and grand theft so we will ultimately find them and prevail not just for us but content creators in general. We intend on working closely with the authorities as well to stop this highly illegal behaviour.

Scoring an opening round knockout win over Askren, Paul improved to 3-0 as a professional boxer, and following the event claimed that the pay-per-view spectacle sold 1.6 million buys total, generating $75 million.

Dropping a controversial disqualification loss to Iuri Lapicus at ONE on TNT 1 at the beginning of the month, former UFC and Bellator lightweight best, Eddie Alvarez has seen the dubious decision overturned to a ‘No Contest’.

Tackling Lapicus in the hope of potentially earning a lightweight title clash against dominant champion, Christian Lee, Alvarez saw his clash with the Moldovan called out just over a minute into the opening frame, after landing multiple shots to the back of Lapicus’ head.

Referee, Justin Brown called a pause in the action, with Lapicus falling to his back on the canvas from a seated position. Despite a significant timeout, it was declared that Lapicus was unable to continue, with Brown issuing a red card to Alvarez, resulting in an immediate disqualification loss. Prior to the timeout being called, the official had warned the Philidelphia veteran on multiple occasions to be wary of shots to the back of Lapicus’ head. Distraught backstage, footage emerged of Alvarez upset, as he dropped to 1-2 under the Chatri Sityodtong-led ONE Championship banner.

Per ESPN MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani — fifteen independent officials reviewed the footage of the segment of illegal strikes to the back of Lapicus’ head, determining that referee, Brown should have issued Alvarez a warning instead of a red card. Overturning the result to a ‘No Contest’, the panel also determined that Alvarez should be issued a yellow card instead.

Remaining in Singapore, Alvarez is set to return in timely fashion off the back of his clash with Lapicus, meeting with Ok Rae-yoon at ONE on TNT 4 on April 28. Rae-yoon had debuted at ONE on TNT III on April 21. in a taper-delayed pairing with Russia’s Marat Gafurov. Improving to 13-3 as a professional, the South Korean notched a unanimous decision.

Imposing Senegelease wrestler, Oumar Kane, better known as ‘Reug Reug’ also returns as he meets with Belarus’, Kirill Girshenko in the main card opener.
