Greg Hardy has gotten another fight.

He will make the walk on Oct. 26 at UFC Singapore. It will also be his fourth fight in 2019, all in the UFC, and seventh as a pro. The UFC announced he will be taking on Jarjis Danho, who has not fought since 2016.

Hardy is coming off of a TKO win over Juan Adams at UFC San Antonio that was supposed to be the big test for the former NFL star. “Prince of War” passed it with ease as he stuffed the takedown then landed vicious ground and pound until the ref stepped in and stopped the fight. Before that, he had knocked out Dmitry Smoliakov in the first round. In his UFC debut, he suffered his only professional loss as he was disqualified against Allen Crowder for an illegal knee.

Before getting to the Octagon, he fought at Xtreme Fight Night where he knocked out Ray Jones in 53 seconds. Before that, on two appearances on the Contender Series, he knocked out Tebaris Gordon in 17 seconds and Austen Lane in 57 seconds.

Jarjis Danho, meanwhile, is 5-1 as a pro and last fought back in 2016 at UFC Fight Night 93 where he fought to a draw against Christian Colombo. In his only other UFC fight, he lost by technical decision to Daniel Omielanczuk. All five of his wins have come by stoppage with four by knockout and one by submission and he has never been finished in his career.

Currently, the UFC Singapore card is as the following:

  • Demian Maia vs. Ben Askren
  • Michael Johnson vs. Stevie Ray
  • Ciryl Gane vs. Don’Tale Mayes
  • Sergei Pavlovich vs. Maurice Greene
  • Frank Camacho vs. Beneil Dariush
  • Jarjis Danho vs. Greg Hardy
  • Ian Heinisch vs. Brad Tavares

Who do you think will win the fight between Greg Hardy and Jarjis Danho?

Greg Hardy is really looking to test himself upon his return to the Octagon.

The former NFL star has racked up a professional record of 5-1, his sole defeat coming due to a disqualification after landing an illegal knee. All Hardy’s victories came by way of first-round TKO. In his last outing, Hardy finished Juan Adams in under a minute at UFC San Antonio.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Hardy doubled down on his previous claims that he’d like to take on a top 15 fighter next. Hardy wants to see if he can go three rounds with one of the UFC’s best heavyweights inside the Octagon.

“We’re looking with somebody with numbers behind their name,” said Hardy.  “(I’m) going to bring a whole lot of pain, stretch this fight game out and see if we can go three rounds, maybe. See what that looks like.”

Hardy currently trains out of one of the biggest gyms the mixed martial arts (MMA) world has to offer in American Top Team (ATT). The gym has produced several well-known fighters and champions, giving Hardy some elite company to learn from.

“These guys push me to become something the world has never seen,” he said. “We’re going to be the most complete, most dangerous, most vicious fighter of all time. We are literally stone-by-stone, brick-by-brick building everything I need.”

What do you think about Hardy wanting a top 15 opponent for his Octagon return?

Controversial former NFL star Greg Hardy has taken the sport of MMA by storm, although perhaps for all the wrong reasons. After losing his UFC debut via disqualification this January, Hardy has since rebounded with two straight first-round knockouts. They haven’t exactly been over top-ranked competition in Dmitry Smolyakov and Juan Adams, however. So Hardy […]

UFC heavyweight prospect Greg Hardy wants a ranked opponent next and the sentiment is the same from his gym American Top Team (ATT).

Hardy got his second win under the promotion when he knocked out Juan Adams at UFC San Antonio last month. With just six fights under his belt, it’s obvious that Hardy is still very green in the sport. However, his athleticism and potential is very clear for all to see.

UFC president Dana White recently stated that Hardy wanted a top 15 opponent next. While he still believes the “Prince of War” is not entirely ready, ATT owner Dan Lambert believes differently.

“Obviously, as you are progressing as a fighter you have to go up the rankings and fight more difficult opponents,” Lambert told BJPenn.com. “Heavyweight is a little different because once you get outside of the top-seven or eight the differences in skillset from 10 to 15 aren’t huge.

But yeah, Greg wants ranked opponents and we want those too. A lot of people thought Adams would be the person to derail the hype and obviously we saw what happened.”

Do you think a top 15 opponent is the right choice at this stage for Hardy? If so, who do you want to see him face next?

Greg Hardy Doesn’t View Francis Ngannou As An Athlete

Despite the explosive qualities of UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou, Greg Hardy does not view him as an athlete.

Hardy is coming off his second win in the UFC when he knocked out Juan Adams at UFC San Antonio earlier this month. The former NFL star has since called for a top 15 opponent according to UFC president Dana White.

While he might need a few more fights before he gets his wish, Hardy will be looking to continue building his game — and that means not just relying on his knockout power. In a recent podcast, he pointed to how Ngannou was devastating everyone in the UFC before his wrestling was exposed:

“Francis Ngannou is a fighter that has athletic ability. He’s not an athlete,” Hardy said (via MMA News). “Just seeing what happened to Francis with Stipe was a warning, but from the beginning, I always told everybody I want to be a well-rounded fighter. I don’t want to focus on one thing and be one-dimensional. I want to be the man. And the only way you can do that is to take over.”

In fact, Hardy can point to many in the sport who are not so much athletes as they are just fighters:

“I don’t think there’s that many out there, though,” Hardy added. “It’s starting to come alive. It’s starting to be OK to come over, but most people been in the fight game so long they lost (athleticism) and conformed to the basic movement.”

Maybe one day we could see Ngannou vs. Hardy and see who comes out on top — the fighter with athletic ability or the athlete who can fight.

What do you make of Hardy’s comments?
