Ahead of their bout at UFC 303, Ian Garry made an accusation regarding Michael “Venom” Page and his team.

The Irishman claimed at the press conference on fight week that someone from Page’s circle had tried to gain information about Garry from someone in Brazil, where he spent his training camp.

“MVP” didn’t react to these comments at the time but Garry once again made reference to this after the fight where he picked up a unanimous decision win in the main card opener.

Page recently spoke about his side of this story where he made it clear that he knows nothing about Garry’s claims and wouldn’t want information anyways.

Michael ‘Venom’ Page Says He Doesn’t Know Of & Wouldn’t Want Someone Trying To Get Information For Him

Page appeared on The MMA Hour where he was asked for his interpretation of Garry’s accusations and what his reaction to them was at the time.

He says that whilst things like that do happen in MMA and has happened to him in the past, it’s not something that he was aware of in this training camp.

“When he was saying it I was like I don’t even know, I’m not entertaining it just because it sounded like he was just shouting a lot of stuff with an Irish accent so I was just like I don’t care. When I listened to it after, I was like I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s not me anyway. There’s always gonna be guys in people’s camps should I say that are gonna be reporting back. We’ve had that in our camp before and we find out who it is and kick them out, same stuff, but I don’t know what he’s talking about.”

Page also said that if Garry is correct in what he is saying, he would be incredibly frustrated that someone would try to go behind his back to get information without him wanting it.

He stated that due to the match-up that he was preparing for on June 29, he doesn’t believe that something like that would even give him an advantage – so the only effect it would have is downplaying his reputation.

“Yeah, 100% because I don’t need it. I don’t feel like I need it, especially for him and again, I try not to be disrespectful to him because it’s not personal at all but I don’t feel like I needed to get any extra information to do what I need to do, what I know I can do, or should have done should I say, in that last fight.”

UFC welterweight Ian Garry has high hopes for his future in the promotion.

Garry has never lacked confidence, but the undefeated 25-year-old has some serious shoes to fill. Being from Ireland and also being a successful cage fighter, comparisons to former UFC champion, Conor McGregor, are inevitable.

Garry however says he wants to carve out his own legacy and be remembered for the things that he accomplishes in his career.

I’ve always been touted as the next Conor McGregor for ages. And the truth is I’m Ian Garry,” Garry said. “I’m the future for a reason. I have an attitude that I’m going to be the best. And I want to go out there and prove it, and I don’t think any baton needs to be passed.

“Conor McGregor is Conor McGregor, and always will be the person who changed the UFC. And I just hope to go out there and have my name in the conversation of the greatest of all time. All I want is to have respect on my name as being one of the best fighters to ever enter the organization. And I think I’m leading that right now.”

Ian Garry calls out Jorge Masvidal

Although Garry has yet to touch the rankings, he is already eyeing up some of the biggest names in the division. ‘The Future’ would call out former title challenger Jorge Masvidal.

Right, because the BMF belt is a load of b****cks. But if someone is going to have it, it shouldn’t be him”, Garry said. “That guy walking around like a street Jesus thinking he’s a gangster. Why do you deserve to be, why do you deserve to be the baddest man. Because you fight people? Great. That’s your job.

So you should do your job, don’t be thinking it’s cool to be going out fighting people on the streets, that’s not being a good role model for kids. So I’d love to smash him, that would be my first fight.” (H/T TheSouthAfrican)

UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington unsurprisingly had a firm take on rival Ian Garry’s recent success inside the Octagon.

Garry emerged victorious from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this past weekend, where he opened the UFC 303 pay-per-view card alongside striking specialist Michael “Venom” Page.

The pair didn’t set the cage alight as some were expecting, with the Irishman instead utilizing his grappling to get the better of “MVP” in rounds one and three to secure a unanimous decision triumph on the scorecards.

In the lead-up, the former Cage Warriors champion expressed absolutely no interest in squaring off with Page at UFC 303, an event at which he’d initially hoped to face Covington as the co-headlining act for Conor McGregor’s return.

“Chaos” publicly dismissed that matchup, branding Garry a “nobody.” And he believes that stance has been vindicated having seen the Dubliner’s efforts on Saturday night…

Covington On Garry’s UFC 303 Performance: ‘That Was Pathetic!’

During a recent appearance on Submission Radio, Covington provided his thoughts on Garry’s decision win over Page on June 29, which extended his perfect professional record to 15-0.

“Chaos” laughed off mention of that unblemished slate, suggesting that Garry has built it by fighting “bums.” And while insisting that “The Future’s” performance was well below requirement, Covington mentioned UFC CEO Dana White’s take on the UFC 303 main card opener to support his point.

“Fighting cans from the Indian Casinos league, oh, big deal,” Covington said. “Anybody could be 15-0 fighting a bunch of 15 bums. Even Dana White himself said what he thought of the performance. He thought it was a draw. He doesn’t think there should have been a winner.

“I feel bad for the fans. The fans got robbed of a pay-per-view opener. That was pathetic. That guy’s fighting the number 14 guy in the world and barely scraping by,” Covington continued. “I think he lost the fight. I feel bad for the fans. They got robbed. But it just shows how much of a bum he is. … He was willing too do whatever he wanted to get on the Conor McGregor card because his name’s ‘Corner McGregor,’ the Conor McGregor wannabe. He pulled all these strings to get on the Conor card and then Conor left him on the alter. … The guy’s an absolute nobody and he’s a bum.”

Although much of Garry’s focus following his win over Geoff Neal in February was on Covington, it would appear that he’s accepted the sailing of that ship.

Rather than reiterating a desire to face “Chaos” post-UFC 303, the Irishman instead mentioned Shavkat Rakhmonov and Kamaru Usman as desirable next foes. It remains to be seen who Garry will share the cage with next, but after a third straight decision, he’ll no doubt be looking to finish whoever it is inside the distance.

Ian Garry is hoping to get a training session in with Conor McGregor.

Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor has been on the sidelines recovering from the horrific leg break injury he suffered in his latest outing against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Coach John Kavanagh had recently shared a major update on his return, informing McGregor is back to grappling and able to train in all facets of mixed martial arts.

Ian Garry looks forward to training with Conor McGregor

In a chat with Mirror Fighting, rising UFC prospect Ian Garry talked about receiving praise from his idol. “The Notorious” had tweeted in support of “The Future” after his latest victory over Gabriel Green at UFC 276.

“There’s no way any time that man posts about me or comments on my fights that I’m not going to be excited,” Garry said. “He’s someone we sat around staying up for late nights with friends to watch his fights.”

“All of the press conferences, the build-up to all the fights, we were so emotionally invested in his fights. I’ll never forget those moments, Mendes, Aldo, I remember where I was for every single one.”

Garry hopes that when he’s back in London, he gets the chance to visit his home country and potentially train together with McGregor.

“It will always be amazing that my name is coming out of his mouth. That’s special to me, and the fact is that potentially when I come home to Ireland we could train together, I would love. Even if we just sat down and talked it would be awesome, I’m just a fan of his, and I always will be.”

“Some people think I don’t understand or hear the fans that much,” Garry said. “But have you ever heard me after my performances? I’m the one who says all of that stuff, I’m the one in the ring and I’m also the one criticizing myself more than anybody.” (ht Mirror)

Bryan Battle has revealed that he asked to fight Ian Garry at UFC 276.

The Ultimate Fighter 29 winner Bryan Battle is set to make his welterweight debut in the UFC against Takashi Soto on Aug. 6 at UFC on ESPN 40. Having made his way to the promotion as a middleweight prospect, Battle has decided to go down a weight class with high ambitions ahead.

Bryan Battle issues callout to rising welterweight contenders

In an exclusive interview with LowKick MMA, Bryan Battle issued a callout to the rising contenders at 170 lbs, including Khamzat Chimaev, Sean Brady, Shavkat Rakhmonov, and more.

“I look at the welterweight division and there’s a bunch of killers in there. There’s like the old kings at the top of the division and there’s a bunch of young kings coming up that are absolute monsters and I want to fight all those guys.

“In a perfect world, if I could fight Sato, then fight Ian Garry, then fight Sean Brady, then fight Rakhmonov, then fight Khamzat, that would be my ideal world. Rakhmonov and Sean Brady are kind of interchangeable because they’re about the same in the rankings.

“That’s probably not going to happen but in my ideal world, that’s how I would like to do it. Take out all those young studs that everyone thinks are so good, show everybody who’s really that dude, show everybody who’s really the welterweight to watch.”

Battle revealed that he asked to fight Ian Garry at UFC 276

Battle sees the upcoming Irish star as the most desirable opponent for him in the new weight class.

“I have a wish list, on top of that list is Ian Garry. I know there’s a lot of people who would love to have that fight and I’m one of them. He’s got a lot of hype and I want to steal all that hype. Whatever clout he has, I want to take it.”

The two have even gone back and forth online on more than one occasion. Garry seemed to be accepting of the fight in April when Battle was at 185 lbs.

In a more recent tweet from June 1, Garry responded to Battle’s allegations of him ducking the North Carolina native.

He revealed that he had asked for the matchup earlier for the International Fight Week card of UFC 276 but suggested Garry has a cautious approach to his fighting career.

“He’s probably, at the very least, being protective. I’m not going to say he’s ducking me. He could be. All I’m saying is I asked for that matchup and I was willing to fight July 2nd, in fact, I would’ve loved to fight July 2nd. That would’ve been a dream come true. Then, I saw that he was fighting this guy (Gabriel Green) he just fought.

“I shot my manager a message, ‘c’mon man, what’s up? What do I gotta do to get a fight?’ At that point, I didn’t even have a fight booked. I was like, ‘dang, not only did I not get the fight but the guy I wanted to fight is got taken up and is fighting on the day that I wanted to fight on.”

Battle disputed Garry’s claims of being “The Future” and argued that he indeed is the real deal.

“It is what it is. I’m not going to be too stressed out about it. I don’t actually know Ian, I know he believes what he’s saying, and I gotta show him what he’s saying isn’t true. He thinks he’s the future, I’m the future. I don’t like that. Don’t try to call yourself what I am. If he doesn’t know it yet, then he’ll know it after the fight one day.”
