Stop us if you’ve heard this one before. Never mind, you definitely have. Four times before.

Some unfortunate news . surfaced from Champions.co’s Rick Lee today that UFC flyweight Ian McCall has been deemed medically unfit to compete against Jarred Brooks at tonight’s (February 11, 2017) UFC 208 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The cancellation is the astonishing fifth in a row for “Uncle Creepy,” who last fought against John Lineker in January 2015. Lee chronicled his unfortunate series of mishaps:

-At UFC Fight Night 73, McCall was forced from a bout against Dustin Ortiz, pulled from the card due to injury
-Just two days prior to UFC 201, McCall’s opponent, Justin Scoggins, withdrew from their fight when he was unable to make weight
-McCall’s next foe, Ray Borg, fell ill just prior to a planned UFC 203 bout
-Citing illness, McCall withdrew from a UFC Fight Night bout against Neil Seery in Belfast

It should probably be noted that McCall hasn’t done himself any favors by withdrawing from two of the bouts due to illness, signaling that the cut down to 125 pounds may be too strenuous for the troubled fighter.

In a bit of a silver lining, Luke Thomas tweeted that McCall and Brooks would both be paid their show money for the bout:

Flyweight Ian McCall will not fight as part of Saturday’s UFC 208 card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, due to an illness.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported the news and added that McCall went to the hospital Saturday after becoming ill Friday night.

Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com confirmed the news, reporting that a doctor recommended he withdraw due to gastrointestinal issues.

The 32-year-old veteran was scheduled to face Jarred Brooks on the Fox Sports 1 preliminary card.

McCall was originally supposed to take on Neil Seery at UFC Fight Night: Mousasi vs. Hall 2 in November, but he had to pull out of that bout as well due to illness.

Their meeting was rescheduled for UFC 208, however, Seery had to withdraw two weeks ago due to the death of his mother-in-law.

That resulted in Brooks being tabbed as a replacement. It is likely that his fight will be scrapped completely due to the late notice of the change.

McCall boasts a career record of 13-5-1 but hasn’t competed inside the Octagon since UFC 183 in January 2015.

Scheduled fights against Dustin Ortiz at UFC Fight Night 73, Justin Scoggins at UFC 201 and Ray Borg at UFC 203 were all canceled for various reasons.

Report: Ian McCall Returning, Will Fight Neil Seery

Ian McCall has another fight lined up.

After a tough 2016, McCall says he is fighting Neil Seery in 2017. “Uncle Creepy” confirmed the fight on social media, but did not state a date or venue for the flyweight bout.

McCall was scheduled to fight three times last year, but did not step foot inside the Octagon. His bout with Justin Scoggins at UFC 201 was called off when Scoggins was over-weight, while a fight with Ray Borg at UFC 203 was axed when Borg fell ill.

It was McCall who was forced out of the first planned meeting with Seery after he was injured.

A member of the four-fighter tournament to crown the first-ever UFC flyweight champion, McCall (13-5-1) last fought in January 2015 when he dropped a decision to John Lineker, snapping his two-fight win streak.

Seery (16-12) lost to Kyoji Horiguchi in May and is 3-2 over his last five.
