Conor McGregor has blasted Islam Makhachev after finding one of the Dagestani native’s tweets from 2015.

Before McGregor was fighting Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title, Makhachev took to social media to say that after all the Irishman’s talk, he would lose to Mendes. Of course, “Notorious” didn’t take too kindly and blasted the surging lightweight contender.

Conor McGregor's reply to Islam Makhachev's 2015 Twitter post

“Can you not, you inbred? What about the one after that then? you are nobody without me, don’t forget. beg me. If I leave shit on the bus on he a nobody like you ahahahaha he still is, kid. A nobody at the big bank. Shit the bus and now he lives off your work,” McGregor wrote.

After McGregor’s tweet, a fan then asked Conor McGregor to fight Islam Makhachev which he didn’t seem too kind about.

“No. His cousin is his dad,” McGregor wrote.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to see McGregor blast Makhachev as the Irishman has never gotten along with him or his team. He has also called most of the Dagestani’s inbred.

Conor McGregor, of course, is rehabbing his broken leg he suffered back at UFC 264 in his first-round doctor stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier. Prior to that, he was knocked out by Poirier at UFC 257 which marked his first fight in over a year after his 40-second TKO win over Donald Cerrone. He is the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion.

Islam Makhachev, meanwhile, submitted Dan Hooker in the first round at UFC 267 and could be fighting for UFC gold next time out. He’s riding a nine-fight winning streak and is 21-1 as a pro. Before the win over Hooker, he beat Thiago Moises in his first UFC main event and submitted Drew Dober earlier this year.

Justin Gaethje Addresses Spat With ‘Incredibly Biased’ Daniel Cormier

Justin Gaethje Daniel Cormier

Justin Gaethje was not happy with Daniel Cormier suggesting Islam Makhachev gets the next title shot.

Cormier made this declaration after seeing his teammate, Makhachev victiorious at UFC 267, saying in the Octagon that he should get the next title shot. The only problem with that is Gaethje is fighting Michael Chandler at UFC 268 in what many are looking at as a #1-contender’s fight.

Following Cormier’s declaration in the Octagon, he and Gaethje had a bit of a back and forth on Twitter, that started with the lightweight contender accusing DC of verbal fellatio on his teammate. It then turned into a back and forth that saw the former two-division champ tell Gaethje to be focused on what’s ahead.

“Suck it harder @dc_mma” Gaethje wrote.

“I can’t fight you, but Islam can my guy. You just go and do what you do next week. You may be safe I’m not sure champ. @Justin_Gaethje” Cormier responded.

“You brought my name up. It wasn’t going to come out of anybody’s mouth,” Gaethje fired back.

“I literally asked why he should get title shot over you? Because he has to convince he deserves to jump you. Hell I thought you should have been in the fight with Charles. Have said it publicly. Calm down highlight , you’re my favorite fighter,” Cormier replied.

Justin Gaethje Addresses Social Media Spat With Cormier

Naturally, this tension between Justin Gaethje and Daniel Cormier was brought up during the UFC 268 pre-fight press conference. Here, the former interim lightweight champ made it clear that he has nothing personal against DC, but feels that he crossed the line into being too biased during his duties as a commentator, no matter how impressive Makhachev looked.

“Yeah (Makhachev’s win) was impressive. Sucks for Dan, late replacement. He wasn’t the guy coming off a full camp for Islam. That’s what that was,” Gaehtje said.

(Cormier) was incredibly biased. At the end of the day, I love Cormier… I felt it was my job that night to tweet and call it out because that’s what I saw. Outside that, it doesn’t matter. I think he knows that he should be in an unbiased mindset when he’s doing this, and I would hope that’s important to him.”

There are certainly some good points that Justin Gaethje is making here, even if he is speaking from a place of his own biases. It will be interesting to see if the UFC goes with Islam Makhachev as the next title contender or the winner of his fight with Michael Chandler.

Islam Makhachev thinks he is ready for a title fight, and Dana White believes he’s getting much closer.

Coming off of his big first-round submission victory over Dan Hooker at UFC 267, Islam Makhachev is looking for a shot at the belt. The 21-1 fighter was coming into this shot against Hooker in the top ten of the division, but with the win, should find himself in the top five. Makhachev is looking for a title shot and said so after his win. Here’s what Dana White had to say when asked about Makhachev’s chances of scoring a title shot next.

“Yeah, he’s ready for somebody in the top 5—top 5, top 3, whatever becomes available,” White said post-fight. “And then obviously, if he gets through that, he’s in line for a title shot.”

The fighters ahead of Makhachev in the rankings at this point have all gotten title shots before except for Beniel Dariush. Two particular names of interest are Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje, who face one another this weekend at UFC 268. However, Makhachev pointed out that unlike himself, they have both already had their chance at the title.

“Yeah, he’s not wrong about that,” White said in response to Makhachev’s comments about Gaethje and Chandler. “And you never know how this is gonna play out. You never know who’s gonna get injured, who’s fighting who, who’s gonna lose, who can’t fight on such and such a date. Anything’s possible.”

Makhachev seems unstoppable in the UFC at this point, much like his mentor and coach Khabib Nurmagomedov was. Makhachev embraces the comparisons to Nurmagomedov and is proving that he could surpass him inside the Octagon. His submission win on Saturday tied him with Nurmagomedov’s UFC submission record at five.

Do you think Islam Makhachev earned a title shot with his win over Hooker at UFC 267?

Hooker Suggests He’s Wiping His Tears With Cash After UFC 267 Payday

Dan Hooker, Islam Makhachev

Despite falling to a first-round submission loss at the hands of Islam Makhachev at UFC 267, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Dan Hooker on Halloween weekend.

On Saturday, Hooker secured himself a bag that wasn’t even on the table just over a month ago. After returning to the win column with an intelligent decision victory over Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 266 in September, “The Hangman” found himself signing another bout agreement just days later, this time against the surging #5-ranked contender.

After former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos withdrew from his scheduled clash against Makhachev, Hooker stepped in on short notice. The narrative ahead of the fight surrounded the belief among the Dagestani’s camp that the New Zealander barely had a chance. Believing he knew something that they didn’t, Hooker repeatedly implied he’d shock the world in Abu Dhabi.

Ultimately, Makhachev’s pressure and skill on the ground proved too much for Hooker. In the opening round, he was taken down and submitted with a brutal kimura. While Makhachev pursues a title shot or title eliminator, Hooker will be looking to rebound yet again in his next outing.

Hooker Previously Denied Taking The Fight For The Paycheck

Ahead of the main card clash, many had suggested Hooker’s reason for accepting the short-notice bout was money-motivated. Makhachev’s manager Ali Abdelaziz claimed the #6-ranked lightweight was showing up simply for the payday. After Hooker requested the fight be changed to five rounds, Makhachev chimed in, suggesting the New Zealander’s desire for a 25-minute distance was rooted out of his search for a bigger paycheck.

“Honestly, I think Hooker come to Abu Dhabi just for make money,” Makhachev said in an interview with BT Sport. “That’s why he ask about five rounds, because he know. Some fighters, they give five rounds, they paid more money. I think before, when he took this fight, he asked about more money, too. He say, ‘I’m gonna fight this one, but you guys just have to pay me more.’ He come to Abu Dhabi just (to) do good business, you know?”

Having previously claimed he never fights purely for the remuneration, Hooker has seemingly admitted that it’s provided some consolation for his disappointing defeat inside Yas Island’s Etihad Arena. In a tweet that was deleted shortly after, Hooker posted the following GIF of actor Woody Harrelson wiping his tears with a stack of bills.

While it’s likely Hooker was simply jesting about the pre-event narrative surrounding his decision to step-up to face the surging Russian, the paycheck he likely received certainly must have helped him cope with his third defeat in four outings.

Islam Makhachev believes he is more than ready for a title shot.

Makhachev made short of work of Dan Hooker as he quickly submitted him with a kimura lock in the first round of their lightweight contest at UFC 267 last night.

The nature of the win as well as the fact that he is now on a nine-fight winning streak gives Makhachev more than a good case of getting the next title shot.

He certainly feels that way.

“I feel good because I show my level – I don’t know how many minutes (it took),” Makhachev said at the UFC 267 post-fight news conference (via MMA Junkie). “Now everybody going to talk like Hooker is an easy opponent, he don’t have grappling or wrestling. Hooker is tough. He beat a lot of wrestling, grappling guy took. He beat Gilbert Burns, many guys.

“I think I deserve now. When (Michael) Chandler beat Hooker they give him title fight. Why not (me)? I am ready, too. I’m here not to beat 15 people and fight. I have nine fights (in a row now).”

Makhachev Predicts Poirier Over Oliveira

Of course, it’s not set in stone.

Justin Gaethje battles Michael Chandler at UFC 268 next week and an emphatic victory for either could earn themselves the next crack at the title.

However, Makhachev still feels he has done more than enough to face the winner of the upcoming lightweight title fight between current champion Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 on December 11.

Should he get the opportunity, Makhachev also expects to be facing Poirier next.

“I think Poirier is gonna beat Oliveira,” Makhachev added. “Many things going to change in next couple months. That’s why I’m going to wait.”
