Islam Makhachev tipped to destory Charles Oliveira in UFC 294 rematch

Slated to rematch former undisputed titleholder, Charles Oliveira at the lightweight limit next month at UFC 294, Islam Makhachev, who searches for a second victory over the Brazilian, has been backed to “destroy” the former champion this time around, by Nasrat Haqparast.

Makhachev, the current undisputed lightweight champion, is set to headline UFC 294 next month in Abu Dhabi, UAE, taking on Sao Paulo finishing ace, Oliveira in the pair’s championship rematch.

First meeting a year ago at the same venue in the Middle East, Islam Makhachev finally minted himself as the undisputed lightweight champion, defeating Oliveira with a second round arm-triangle submission win to clinch the vacant crown and snap the former champion’s division-best 12-fight winning streak.

Defending the crown once in the time since, the American Kickboxing Academy mainstay defeated pound-for-pound number one and undisputed featherweight titleholder, Alexander Volkanovski back in February at UFC 284 in a close, debated unanimous decision triumph.

And despite returning to the winner’s enclosure back in Jue with a blistering first round TKO win over Beneil Dariush in Canada to set up a title rematch with Makhachev, Oliveira simply is on a level below his Russian adversary, according to recent UFC 293 winner, Haqparast.

“I think Islam (Makhachev) is really like, pound-for-pound number one,” Nasrat Haqparast told assembled media after UFC 293. “He’s gonna show his class. I’ve trained with Islam, he’s a good friend of mine. We trained in Las Vegas two years ago. He’s a great guy, I love him.”

“He’s a different level, he’s gonna destory Charles Oliveira, and hopefully get the pound-for-pound number one [spot],” Haqparast explained. (Transcribed by MMA News)

Furthermore, ahead of his championship rematch with Oliveira, Makhachev has also been offered a title re-run against the above-mentioned, Volkanovski, who suggested a rematch next year at UFC 300

Undisputed featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski may be expected to continue at 145lbs for the foreseeable future, with a title defense against Ilia Topuria, however, the Australian is already weighing up a potential lightweight return against Islam Makhachev in a title rematch proposal for UFC 300 next year.

Volkanovski, the current number one ranked pound-for-pound fighter under the UFC banner alongside incumbent heavyweight champion, Jon Jones – most recently headlined UFC 290 back in July during International Fight Week, successfully unifying the titles in a TKO victory over then-interim champion, Yair Rodríguez.

Yet to be booked to make his return to the Octagon in the time since, Volkanovski has been pegged to fight Georgian contender, Topuria in his comeback, with the latter continuing his winning spree with a headlining win over Josh Emmett earlier this summer in dominant fashion.

However, with eyes fixed on next month’s UFC 294 title fight rematch between Makhachev and Brazilian favorite, Charles Oliveira, Volkanovski has staked his claim for his own rematch with the Russian, potentially atop a UFC 300 card next year.

“That makes a lot of sense,” Alexander Volkanovski told assembled media during UFC 293. “Yeah, for sure. I think that it’ll be great, especially if we get my hand raised for that one. UFC 300 would be perfect, But again, we’ll see what we can do but I think that’s one of the bigger fights that we can make.”

“I truly do believe that people want to see it again,” Alexander Volkanovski explained. “It’s very competitive and I guarantee you I’ll get it done next time.”

Initially sharing the Octagon back in February in the main event of UFC 284 in Perth, Australia, Volkanovski suffered his first promotional loss in a lightweight title pursuit against Makhachev, dropping a close decision loss.

Former undisputed lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira claims he and his camp want to “make history” in his title rematch with incumbent gold holder, Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 in October, claiming he will avoid a “mistake” this time around against the dominant Russian champion.

Slated to headline UFC 294 in October in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Oliveira takes on Makhachev for the second time in a year, attempting to reclaim the undisputed lightweight crown in the pair’s championship rematch in the Middle East.

In the pair’s first matchup, Oliveira saw his division-best 12-fight winning run to a stark end, suffering a dominant second round arm-triangle submission loss to Makhachev in the duo’s vacant title fight.

Rebounding successfully in the time since, Sao Paulo finisher, Oliveira turned in an impressive first round win over Iranian contender, Beneil Dariush at UFC 289 back in June, stopping the Kings MMA staple with a slew of first round ground strikes in Canada.

And booking a title affair with Makhachev for the second time, Oliveira claimed he would avoid a “mistake” against the American Kickboxing Academy staple.

“That’s the only fight I talked crap [in], the fight against Islam (Makhachev),” Charles Oliveira told MMA Fighting. “I made a mistake. I won’t make that mistake again. We can only make mistakes once in life. When you make a mistake once, you can’t do it second time, otherwise you’ll go won nonstop. I won’t do it again.”

“I think God only gives you burdens as heavy as you can carry, and I’m sure God is taking me to Abu Dhabi because he has something different for me,” Charles Oliveira explained. “The same month, the same date, once again spending my birthday there. I’ll work harder than ever to make this happen. We’ll make history, I’ll become champion if Lord Jesus wants [it]. And then, why not – we throw a big part on November 4. in Brazil.”

Dillon Danis

Dillon Danis believes he could dispatch reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in under two rounds. That’s the latest in a string of ridiculous claims made by the BJJ specialist and undefeated Bellator MMA fighter.

On October 14, Danis will make his return to competition as he steps inside the squared circle for a grudge match with social media sensation Logan Paul. The pair will co-headline a Misfits Boxing event dubbed ‘The PRIME Card’ in Manchester, England. Ahead of his mildly anticipated comeback, Danis made a claim that even the Nelk Boys couldn’t help, but laugh at in a video shared on their incredibly popular YouTube channel.

“I might kill Islam,” Danis responded when asked how a fight between him and Makhachev would play out. “I think he doesn’t make it past two rounds with me. 100%.”

Dillon Danis didn’t stop there, calling out retired lightweight great Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“Give me Khabib,” Danis added. “Come on.”

Dillon Danis Targets Logan Paul’s Fiancée Ahead of Highly Anticipated Clash

Dillon Danis is no stranger to making outrageous callouts for fights that will never happen, but in recent weeks, the former Conor McGregor coach has been going pretty hard at WWE Superstar Logan Paul. From the moment their UK-based fight was announced, Danis went on the attack, going after Paul through his fiancée, Danish swimsuit model Nina Agdal. Danis has relentlessly trolled the couple on social media, making light of Agdal’s plethora of past relationships. He’s also thrown in the occasional clip ripped from Agdal’s own social media and even put his Photoshop skills to work.

At one point, Danis claimed that Paul’s representatives had slapped him with a cease and desist order, threatening to pull out of the fight. Undeterred, Danis continued his barrage of attacks and will likely continue to do so until the pair meet inside the ring this fall.

Or until he’s inevitably banned from his platform(s) of choice.

Charles Oliveira tried to trick UFC into moving title fight with Islam Makhachev to Brazil

Charles Oliveira is currently gearing up for his highly anticipated return to the Octagon on October 21 for UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.

‘Do Bronx’ will attempt to reclaim the lightweight world title as he runs it back with reigning champion Islam Makhachev in the evening’s massive main event. However, the announcement came as quite a surprise considering just weeks prior, Charles Oliveira revealed that he would not be adequately prepared to return in October for their title tilt. As it turns out, that was nothing more than a ploy by the former champ.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Charles Oliveira revealed that his ruling out an October return was merely an attempt to get the fight moved to November when the promotion is expected to return to Brazil.

“What changed is that I just learned how to play,” Oliveira revealed through a translator. “What I knew is that the UFC was planning to maybe have a fight in Brazil in November. So I was trying to push it to November. I was playing with them. Obviously, it didn’t work so now I’m fighting in October, but that’s what I was doing.”

Charles Oliveira Seeks Redemption in Long-Awaited Rematch

Unfortunately for Charles Oliveira, his game plan didn’t work, but ‘Do Bronx’ did reveal that he was able to bank a little extra cash for his October clash with the Dagestani destroyer.

The bout will come almost exactly one year removed from their first meeting at UFC 280. On that night, Islam Makhachev made relatively easy work of Oliveira, scoring a second-round submission to capture the vacant lightweight title. Since then, Makhachev has defended the belt once in a Fight of the Year contender with Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284.

In June, Charles Oliveira returned to action and earned an impressive first-round TKO against Beneil Dariush to re-establish himself as the division’s top contender, setting the stage for a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s successor.

If the McGregor fight doesn’t take priority, Gaethje will face the winner of Makhachev and Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title. ‘The Highlight’ is fresh off a sensational knockout win over Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 291

While oddsmakers currently have Gaethje as a +425 underdog against Makhachev, and Oliveira already holds a stoppage win over him, Chandler backs his fellow American to beat both.

Talking on his YouTube channel, Chandler broke down his thought process and proclaimed Gaethje to become champion next year.

“Justin Gaethje is no longer just a pugilist who goes out there and swings for the fences and wants to brawl,” Chandler said on his YouTube channel. “Justin Gaethje is on a quest to win a world title, and I think Justin Gaethje will go out there and win a world title. Whether it’s Makhachev or Oliveira, Gaethje’s going to get that title fight next.

I think Justin Gaethje is the UFC lightweight champion by the first quarter of next year. I think he beats Islam. I think he beats Oliveira. Justin Gaethje has cleaned up. He already had all the attributes, he already had the cardio, the speed, the power, he’s got great wrestling defense. He already had all the attributes. But now, him honing in those skills, it’s gonna be tough for one of those dudes to beat him, I think.” (BJPenn.com)
