Khamzat Chimaev hit back at Israel Adesanya for his recent dig at him.

Chimaev recently expressed his intentions of becoming a two-weight champion following his emphatic first-round knockout win over Gerald Meerschaert this past weekend.

“Of course! Why not? I did hard work for that. I’m ready. Both divisions. If I do my hard work, nobody’s a challenge for me, I’m going to stop both guys [Kamaru Usman and Adesanya].”

When Adesanya learned of those comments, he didn’t seem to be too bothered, though he did choose to take a dig at the Dagestan native by calling him “rat lip” — a name Conor McGregor has also used for Chimaev.

“I don’t even know the guy, I haven’t seen his fights yet,” Adesanya said. “I saw the presser and he was just talking sh*t. He was just casting his net.

“Have you seen him fight? Rat lip? Meh … Tim said he fought low level competition. So he thinks I’m an easy fight … that’s interesting. I mean, everyone does this when they’re coming up, casting the net wide. Yeah, keep casting.”

Chimaev came across that comment and decided to take to Twitter to respond to the UFC middleweight champion.

“@stylebender what do you said about me it will cost you your belt if you’re still the champion Good luck,” Chimaev tweeted on Wednesday.

Adesanya defends his middleweight title against Paulo Costa at UFC 253 this weekend. Should he remain the champion and Chimaev continues winning and climbing up the ranks, we could be in store for this matchup in the future.

“What can I say about this? Too much weights, not enough speed work. I feel like this is going to be a very one-sided fight. I do not feel like this is going to be the biggest test of Israel’s career. I feel like Paulo Costa is too limited of a striker,” Hooker said.

” He accepts wearing a few shots to give a few shots, which will work against another limited striker, but when you’re against a guy like Israel Adesanya, who can pick his shots better than anybody in the world. And your standing across from that guy, you let him hit you. He will break you down.

“You let him hit you, he will hurt you, he will pick you apart, and he will stop you coming forward.”

This weekend’s title fight is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated fights of 2020, and one that MMA fans around the world will be tuning in for.

UFC middleweight title contender Paulo Costa has fired back Israel Adesanya who has spent much of the build-up to their UFC 253 title fight suggesting the Brazilian is using performing-enhancing drugs.

In an interview with Submission Radio last month Adesanya explained that USADA had been frequently testing him, but he didn’t believe the anti-doping organization is doing the same for Costa, he said.

“I got tested twice in the last three weeks. Twice in the last three weeks I got tested. At night, cause they tried to catch me off guard. So, it was the first time they ever tested me at night. So, where’s your t-shirt? I’ve been tested over 30 times, but where’s your t-shirt? I know what it’s like. I’m from Lagos City, Nigeria. I know what it’s like in certain countries where money talks. Where if you flash your gun, people act a certain way. I know what it’s like. You’ve heard stories about Brazil with people running up to gyms to test people and then they’re not compliant of certain things. But yeah, I just know what it’s like. But I don’t mind. I just like bringing that up cause I want it to be known, cause I said on record, I’m gonna pop him before USADA pops him. So, I’m gonna beat him. And then when he gets popped by USADA down the line, I’ll be like, yup, I still whooped his ass even when he was on steroids. That would make a great story.”

Speaking to TSN Costa finally hit back at the doping claims. He says his physique is down to a combination of factors, one such factor being good genes.

“You know it is a joke to me. It is all that he has to say about me,” Costa said. “I have a great team by my side, the best of the best, I have good doctors, good trainers, good condition, and physical trainers, I have a bunch of very, very high-quality people around me. And, I believe I have some kind of genetics that help me and I love to train and work out. When you put all these ingredients and mix them, you have a great result. That is why.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Adesanya Chimaev

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya doesn’t seem too bothered about the rise of Khamzat Chimaev.

The legend of Chimaev grew even further after another statement performance at UFC Vegas 11 this past weekend when he knocked out Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds.

Given how he has constantly switched from welterweight to middleweight, many observers believe Chimaev is more than capable of becoming a two-division champion due to his active nature and dominant performances for the promotion so far.

When asked about that prospect himself, Chimaev certainly was confident of achieving it.

“Of course! Why not? I did hard work for that. I’m ready. Both divisions. If I do my hard work, nobody’s a challenge for me, I’m going to stop both guys [Kamaru Usman and Adesanya].”

Adesanya, however, is yet to actually see Chimaev in action. Not that he is surprised by his words either.

“I don’t even know the guy, I haven’t seen his fights yet,” Adesanya told Yahoo (via MMA Mania).

For now, an Adesanya vs. Chimaev matchup is still miles away.

And “The Last Stylebender” already has his hands full as he gets set to defend his middleweight title this weekend at UFC 253 when he faces Paulo Costa.

However, it would certainly be a great stylistic matchup.

What do you think of Adesanya’s response to Chimaev’s comments?
