Tonight’s (Sat., April 15, 2017) UFC on FOX 24 is in the books from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, and the event blessed the State of Missouri with an amazing event for their first-ever UFC card.

In the featured bout, longtime UFC flyweight champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson tied all-time greeat former middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s long-held string of title defenses with 10 by absolutely dominating Wilson Reis on the feet en route to as perfect an armbar submission you’ve ever seen in MMA.

In the co-main event, “Thug” Rose Namajunas returned and made an extremely strong case for another title shot by submitting formerly rising Michelle Waterson after rocking her with a huge head kick, while rising middleweight contender Robert Whittaker pulled off a shocking upset over longtime top-ranked submission wizard Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

What a night. Watch the UFC on FOX 24 post-fight press conference starting shortly after the main card right here:

“Jacare” Says He Will Retire If He Gets Tired Of Waiting For Title Shot

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is a patient man, but he’s only willing to wait for so long before the former Strikeforce middleweight champ and a UFC contender gets his title shot. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is a patient man, but he’s only willing to wait for so long before the former Strikeforce middleweight champ and a UFC contender gets his title shot.

The Brazilian submission specialist did not mince words when asked about his long road to a UFC title fight. “Jacare” carries an impressive 7-1 record in the UFC, with his lone loss coming by way of close decision to fellow middleweight contender Yoel Romero.

“Oh, man, I’m motivated in fighting,” Souza said during a press event in Rio de Janeiro. “That doesn’t demotivate me at all. I’m motivated by the challenge that my opponent brings. The belt is the consequence. I’m a believer in God, everybody knows that,” he continued. “When I’m choosing my fight, I put a knee on the ground and ask for God to choose a fight for me, and it’s happening.”

“I’m happy to be fighting,” he continued. “But I have no problem stopping fighting. I stopped competing in jiu-jitsu in 2005 when I was at the top of my career, and if I think it’s too much for me, that I’m full of it, I can stop fighting. That’s it. I can open my own gym, make as much money as I make fighting, and be happy. I have this dream of having my own gym, so I have no problem stopping fighting.”

“Jacare” may only be on a modest two fight win streak, but has finished both those opponents in the first round, TKOing Vitor Belfort at UFC 198 and Tim Boesch at UFC 208.

The Jiu-Jitsu ace was the 185 pound champ back in Strikeforce and has been a contender in the UFC ever since he was signed back in 2013.

With current middleweight champion Michael Bisping making his second title defense against former welterweight kingpin Georges Saint Pierre sometime this summer, the rest of the weight class is left in flux. Both “Jacare” and Romero have already done enough to earn their title shots, but this superfight between Bisping and GSP means neither contender will have the chance to dethrone the champ until late 2017, all things considered.

“Jacare” will take on Robert Whittaker at UFC on FOX 24 on April 15, which could bolster his win streak to three in a row and an overall 8-1 UFC record with a victory. But at 37-years-old, time is of the essence for Souza, and he seems to know it.

Will we see “Jacare” get his title shot before he loses his patience and retires like he did from competitive BJJ back in 2005? Or will Romero

The UFC is back this Saturday night (February 11, 2017) UFC 208 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, with the main event set to decide the first-ever UFC women’s featherweight champion when former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm meets touted striker Germaine de Randamie.

The main card also houses two pivotal bouts in the middleweight division, with decorated longtime former champion Anderson Silva set to take on blitzing knockout striker Derek Brunson in the co-main event. “The Spider” is looking for one more chance to win UFC gold before he retires, but his friend and training partner Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will also look to continue his arduous quest towards a title shot of his own when he meets veteran Tim Boestch.

Overall, a new division will find its first direction and one of the UFC’s most revered will see some things mixed up towards the top as well, making this weekend’s event from Brooklyn a unique one.

Current No. 3-ranked middleweight Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza has been lobbying for a chance to compete for the 185-pound title, but has instead been handed an opponent ranked outside of the top ten.

It has been confirmed that ‘Jacare’ will take on No. 14-ranked Tim Boetsch at UFC 208 on February 11 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The match-up doesn’t do much for Souza in terms of his title hunt, but could mean everything for Boetsch if he is able to upset the former Brazilian champ.

Souza has lost only one bout in almost four years, and that came in a close split decision loss to Yoel Romero, as he comes off of a grizzly first round knockout win over former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort at UFC 198 this past May. The Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt is a 14-year veteran of the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), holding wins over names such as Tim Kennedy, Robbie Lawler, Derek Brunson, Gegard Mousasi, and many more.

Boetsch is currently on a two-fight win streak in which he finished both of those contest rather early, beating both Josh Samman and Rafael Natal via knockout in the second and first rounds. A potential win over Souza would certainly be the biggest one of the former NCAA Division I competitor’s MMA career.

UFC 208 will go down live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on February 11, 2017.

What are your thoughts on the odd match-up?
