Jailton Almeida calls for UFC Paris fight with Ciryl Gane next I'm waiting

Jailton Almeida has called out Ciryl Gane for a main event fight after his UFC 302 submission win over Alexandr Romanov.

Almeida returned to the win column in a big way at UFC 302 and after his victory, he called to return in September at UFC Paris. Then, taking to social media, Almeida made it clear that he wants to headline the card and believes him vs. Gane is the perfect main event.

“Hey @ciryl_gane , lets go bro!! Main Event in France, September 28! The winner fights for the title! It’s me and you. You already fought everyone at the top, except me I’m waiting…,” Jailton Almeida wrote on X.

Almeida vs Gane does make sense as the main event of UFC Paris, as the winner would likely get a title shot. However, Gane has yet to respond to Almeida’s request and whether or not he has interest in the fight is uncertain.

If Jailton Almeida does get his wish and fights Ciryl Gane next time out, he not only thinks he wins, but he believes he will finish the Frenchman.

A fight is always different, but I would be for sure looking for the finish,” Almeida said after UFC 302 (via MMAJunkie). “I don’t know if I could get it early like Jon Jones was able to because I don’t think Ciryl was expecting that, but I can see myself finishing him in the third round or fourth round if it’s a (five-round fight).”

Should Almeida get the fight and finish Gane at UFC Paris it likely would secure the Brazilian a heavyweight title shot next time out.

With the win at UFC 302, Almeida is now 21-3 as a pro and is 7-1 in the UFC. The Brazilian holds notable wins over Derrick Lewis, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and Shamil Abdurakhimov among others.

Jailton Almeida got back into the win column in a big way with a quick finish at UFC 302.

Three months removed from his brutal second-round knockout loss to Curtis Blaydes, ‘Malhadinho’ returned ready to make a statement against another submission specialist — Alexandr Romanov.

As expected, Almeida moved in quickly and took ‘King Kong’ down with ease. From there, it was just a matter of time. After an initial attempt to choke his opponent out, Almeida was able to sneak his arm under Romanov’s chin the second time around, forcing the Moldovan to tap out.

With the victory, Almeida moved to 7-1 inside the Octagon. During his post-fight interview, he called for a fight with former interim UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane when the promotion returns to Paris in September.

Perennial heavyweight contender, Curtis Blaydes has snapped the impressive roughshod run of 15 straight victories of surging heavyweight force, Jailton Almeida in a stunning come-from-behind win in the featured preliminary bout of UFC 299 tonight — with a series of knelt hammer fists early in the second round.

Blaydes, who had been sidelined since last summer’s knockout loss to Russian contender, Sergei Pavlovich, seemed on the way to a dominant loss of his own against Brazilian challenger, Almeida tonight at UFC 299 — failing to mount any real significant offense in the first round of their featured preliminary bout.

However, surviving a wrestling and grappling onslaught from the Bahia native, Curtis Blaydes sprawled early in the second round following another relentless shot from the Brazilian, unloading a slew of hammer fists on the side of Almeida’s head for a stunning TKO win — eventually slumping the former onto his knees and back for a stunning knockout win.

And after landing himself a TKO victory by way of knee injury back in 2022, Blaydes offered to rematch interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall in his return to the Octagon next.

Jailton Almeida suffers submission loss in playful fight with Down Syndrome opponent UFC

UFC heavyweight Jailton Almeida competes in a charity MMA fan with Down Syndrome. 

The MMA community has taken a rather toxic and hateful turn as of late, there’s has been spotlight on the sport at the moment and it not for the right reasons. After many have fought to bring the sport out of the dark ages and improve its public image, some seem steadfast on pulling it back down.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom – the sport sometimes has nice stories too. 

Jailton Almeida competes in charity MMA fight

Last night, Almeida competed in. charity fight at Demo Fight 18, taking on Alvaro Borges, who has down syndrome and evidently made the mans year. 

After the pair had a fun back-and-forth in the first round, but in the second round Borges would sink in an armbar after being taken down by the heavyweight. Borges would celebrate and pose for pictures with a replica belt wrapped around his waist. 

Following the contest, Almeida took to Instagram to congratulate his opponent. 

“Guys, unfortunately I couldn’t win. But my congratulations to champion Alvinho Borges. You deserve it so much!!! Congratulations,” Almeida wrote. (H/T MMA Mania)

Almeida is currently coming off a win over former UFC title challenger, Derrick Lewis. The fight would end a finishing streak that dated back to mid-2018, but Almeida will look to begin another one when he takes on Curtis Blaydes at UFC 299.

Looking at the rankings, there does not seem like there are many heavyweights that could deal with Almeida’s grappling and athletic ability. Currently ranked No.7, Almeida is on the brink of challenging for a UFC title and could see himself firmly in the picture with a couple more wins.

UFC heavyweight contender Jailton Almeida will return to action this month, but it won’t be inside the Octagon.

Two months removed from his impressive five-round shellacking of Derrick Lewis at UFC Sao Paulo, ‘Malhadinho’ will compete under the Demo Fight banner in Brazil. Revealed on the promotion’s official Instagram, Almeida will face Alvaro Borges, a fighter with Down Syndrome, as part of an exhibition bout.

“We know that sport is one of the biggest weapons of social inclusion we have.

“Thinking about it, we decided to present an exhibition fight with the 2023 MMA revelation athlete Jailton Malhadinho ( UFC ) and athlete Alvaro Borges with Down Syndrome.

“We are sure going to be a great show!“

Dating back to 2006, Demo Fight has put on 17 different events over the years, all emanating from Almeida’s home country. The promotion’s latest offering, Demo Fight 18, will feature a slew of homegrown talent in addition to the announced exhibition bout featuring the streaking heavyweight standout.

Jailton Almeida Continues to climb the UFC heavyweight rankings

Since appearing on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021, Jailton Almeida has established himself as a potential UFC title challenger, winning six straight fights against the likes of Shamil Abdurakhimov, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, and the aforementioned Derrick Lewis.

Originally, Almeida was expected to square off with Curtis Blaydes in November, but an injury forced ‘Razor’ out of the matchup. The bout has since been rescheduled for UFC 299 on March 9.

Currently sitting as the No. 7 ranked heavyweight, a win over Blaydes would likely push him into the division’s top five and put him within reach of his first shot at UFC gold.

Heavyweight grappling sensation Jailton Almeida will return to the Octagon on March 9 for a rescheduled showdown with Curtis ‘Razor’ Blaydes.

Emanating from The Magic City of Miami, Florida, UFC 299 will feature the first title defense of newly crowned bantamweight world champion Sean O’Malley. After scoring a stunning second-round knockout against Aljamain Sterling in August, ‘Sugar’ will put his title on the line against the only fighter to beat him inside the Octagon thus far, Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera.

In the only heavyweight bout currently announced for the card, Almeida will look to continue his meteoric rise up the divisional ladder against the man he was originally scheduled to fight at UFC Sao Paulo last month.

Jailton Almeida (6-0 UFC, 20-2 MMA) has been working his way up the division since making his promotional debut in May 2022 with a first-round submission over Parker Porter. ‘Malhadinho’ followed that up with an impressive showing against Anton Turkalj and Shamil Abdurakhimov.

Since then, Almeida has seen a significant step up in competition against the likes of Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Derrick Lewis. After walking through ‘Bigi Boi’ with a first-round submission, he put a beating on ‘The Black Beast’ for five rounds when the promotion returned to his home country.

Curtis Blaydes ready to get back into the win column against jailton almeida

Curtis Blaydes (12-4 UFC, 17-4 MMA) will look to get back into the win column after seeing his three-fight win streak snapped at the hands of Russian knockout artist Sergei Pavlovich.

To his credit, Blaydes’ three losses under the UFC banner have come against some of the heaviest hitters in the history of the division, including Derrick Lews, Francis Ngannou, and the aforementioned Sergei Pavlovich. ‘Razor’ was originally slated to fight Jailton Almeida on November 4 in Brazil, but an ankle injury sidelined their clash with many wondering whether or not it would be rebooked.
