Putting March main event woes firmly behind him, Alexander Volkov successfully rebounds from his UFC Fight Night London headliner against Tom Aspinall, to blitz through heavyweight knockout artist, Jairzinho Rozenstruik with a slew of first round strikes at the cage in the final bout of UFC Vegas 56.
Volkov, who made his second Octagon walk of the year, managed to evade winging hooks and overhand throws from Rozenstruik during a worrisome exchange in the center of the Octagon, circling out and stunning Rozenstruik with a well-planted right hand.
Forcing the Suriname native to fight from the Octagon fence, Volkov began to throw in abundance, knocking the mouth guard from Rozenstruik before referee, Herb Dean stepped in and called a halt to the bout — saving the latter from further punishment.

Set to return from a week’s hiatus, the UFC Apex facility is set to host a heavyweight main event between division strikers, Alexander Volkov, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
Attempting to rebound to the winner’s enclosure, Moscow-born kickboxing talent, Volkov headlined UFC Fight Night London back in March against Tom Aspinall, suffering a one-sided first round straight armbar loss.
For Rozenstruik, the Suriname native featured at UFC 266 last September, dropping a unanimous decision defeat against common-opponent and wrestling talent, Curtis Blaydes over the course of three rounds.

Alexander Volkov would prefer a quick end to his fight with Jairzinho Rozenstruik so he can return to his home country of Russia.
The 33-year-old heavyweight is set to meet Rozenstruik at UFC Vegas 56 tonight for his second UFC main event in a row.
When asked at the UFC Vegas 56 media day how he sees the fight going, “Drago” admitted that sometimes strikers like himself and Rozenstruik can cancel each other out when matched up.
“It’s hard to predict, you know? Because sometimes when two big strikers fight, like meet each other in the Octagon, sometimes the fight can be a little bit boring. Because also fighter like a little bit scared or something.”
The two heavyweights have earned plenty of finishes in their respective careers and have a combined ten stoppage victories in the UFC. Volkov intends to get things done quickly despite acknowledging the toughness of “Bigi Boy”.

“I believe, or I want this fight finish early because it will be the easiest way to finish this fight and go back to Russia. So, for sure I will try to find the opportunity to clock him out. But we will see how it goes, because he (has) a tough chin, a tough head, for sure. A lot of people punch him to the head and it does nothing for him. But I will try not just punch, maybe kick, so we will see.”
Both these men will be looking to rebound from losses in their most recent bouts.
Rozenstruik lost a unanimous decision to Curtis Blaydes at UFC 266, while Volkov was submitted by Tom Aspinall in the first round of their main event fight in March. Aspinall and Blaydes are set to headline UFC Fight Night London in July.
This fight with Rozenstruik will by Volkov’s sixth main event slot since joining the UFC in 2016.

Alexander Volkov vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik
The main event of UFC Vegas 56 is an intriguing one. Rozenstruik is one of the hardest-hitting individuals in the entire promotion. However, he rarely pushes a pace, instead relying on his opponents to engage with him, in order to set up counter shots. Alexander Volkov is a colossal fighter, standing at 6ft 9inches tall. However, he isn’t known as a particularly dangerous finisher, often relying on his size advantage to land high volume attritional damage over the course of the fight.

There are several ways you could bet on this fight. If you are backing Rozenstruik, then taking his KO/TKO prop is likely the way to go. He can be found at solid plus odds on Betway, which have the line priced at 3.00 at the time of writing. Alternatively, if you think Volkov will be victorious, then taking his decision prop is the way to go. This can be found at 2.62.
However, we will not be taking a side. Instead, we will take the fight to go over 3.5 rounds, which Betway has priced at 1.80.

Movsar Evloev vs. Dan Ige
An excellent featherweight matchup that easily could have been a five-round fight in its own respect, Evloev vs. Ige is a classic UFC prospect vs. veteran matchup. Ige hit’s very hard and is a solid offensive wrestler. However, as demonstrated in his recent loss to ‘The Korean Zombie,’ Ige is lacking when it comes to takedown defense.
Unfortunately for Ige, Evloev is one of the best wrestlers in the division, having absolutely mauled the likes of Hakeem Dawodo and Seung Woo Choi. It is hard to imagine a scenario where Evloev is not able simply to dominate this fight with relentless takedowns and suffocating top control.
Unfortunately, the bookies seem to agree with this assumption, and Evloev’s ML is currently at a ridiculous 1.25. Instead, we will take his decision prop, priced at 1.57.

Felice Herrig vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz
Felice Herrig vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz represents a matchup between two veterans of the UFC, and also a rematch several years in the making. Herrig has not competed for two years now, and is on a three-fight losing streak that includes the decision loss to Kowalkiewicz. However, she enters this fight as the betting favorite.
This is likely due to Kowalkiewicz being on a five-fight losing streak. However, the former UFC title challenger has still remained active, and has recently begun training at ATT. Kowalkiewicz is also a notorious decision artist, and can currently be found at 2.62 odds to win on the judge’s scorecards.
This is the line we will take on this fight, though we’d advise limiting the amount you place on it.
