Mike Perry recently voiced his apprehension about inciting fan outrage if he were to pursue a future boxing match against the legendary, yet much older, Mike Tyson.

Perry is currently slated to fight Jake Paul on July 20 in an eight-round cruiserweight bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

This matchup was announced after Paul’s planned fight against “Iron Mike” on the same date was pushed to November 15 due to the former undisputed heavyweight champion’s health scare.

Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up during a flight in May, leaving him nauseous and in need of medical attention. Although his team initially claimed he had fully recovered, subsequent medical examinations revealed that the 58-year-old boxing legend was not fit to compete in July.

The upcoming bout against Paul presents a tremendous opportunity for “Platinum” to elevate his profile on a grander stage. Already thriving as a bare-knuckle fighter, Perry is the biggest star in BKFC, boasting impressive victories over notable opponents like Michael Page, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez.

Despite securing the fight due to unexpected circumstances, Perry is eager to compete against Tyson if he secures a win against the YouTuber-turned-boxer on July 20.

However, the former UFC welterweight fighter is cautious of potential public outcry, as many might disapprove of the matchup due to the significant age difference…

Perry Eyes Tyson Fight But Hesitant About Public Reaction

During a recent ESPN MMA interview, Perry was asked if he would consider fighting Tyson next, should he defeat “The Problem Child” and take his spotlight on November 15. “Platinum” eagerly affirmed his desire to face the boxing icon.

“Yes, absolutely. Of course, man, I’m thinking about that. I would definitely do it.”

However, the 32-year-old Michigan native acknowledged that facing Tyson would be the biggest matchup of his career, and he doesn’t want to provoke public backlash unnecessarily. For now, he is concentrating solely on his fight with Paul.

“The comments can be negative already, anyway, so now they’re going to say, ‘Oh, now you’re gonna fight the old guy.’ The internet is undefeated. That’s the one fight I don’t want to have is Mike Perry vs. the internet because I could be the guy to beat the internet, bro. Fighting Mike Tyson would be obviously be cool but I’m just focused on July 20, man. I gotta have tunnel vision, this is my opportunity to show the world.”

When Paul vs. Tyson was first announced, the MMA community raised alarm bells over the staggering 31-year age gap between the fighters, a difference that would set a new record in professional boxing history.

“Iron Mike” hasn’t fought professionally since retiring during his bout against Kevin McBride in June 2005. However, Tyson made a comeback in November 2020, stepping into the squared circle for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw.

Former UFC title challenger Darren Till is set to finally make his combat sports return this weekend after taking a late-notice fight at Social Knockout 3 in Dubai.

Till was previously scheduled to make his long awaited boxing debut against Julio César Chávez Jr. on the undercard of Jake Paul’s fight with Mike Tyson. With that card being postponed until November, the fight was off, but the Brit hopes that he will still be a part of that event in some capacity when it takes place later this year.

It has taken him a long time to get back in the mix, and after having this big fight collapse, he doesn’t want to lose out on the big opportunities that could have come with getting a win on July 20.

Till is still targeting two of the biggest names that are out there for him in boxing as they’re set to meet on the originally planned date for Paul vs. Tyson.

Darren Till Talks Wanting To Face Jake Paul & Mike Perry, Predicts Their Upcoming Fight

In an interview with Fred Talks Fighting ahead of his return to competition, Till laid out his plans for the near future.

Regardless of what happens on July 20, he is hoping to face either Mike Perry or Jake Paul, and there’s no denying that both fights would be big occasions for “The Gorilla.”

“I think it’s either Jake Paul or Mike Perry at this point. Me and Mike Perry have got a lot of history. … It’s always beef, it’s always war with Mike. We always push for war, never peace.”

Till also gave his prediction for the upcoming clash between Perry and Paul that was announced shortly after the postponement of the Tyson fight.

The former UFC fighter finds it difficult to call a winner because of what both men bring to the table, but he is leaning ever so slightly toward “The Problem Child.”

“I keep 50:50 on both, some days I say Jake ‘cause I know Jake’s the bigger man, but then I don’t think you can rule Perry out. Perry’s a tough man and he’s been beating all these veterans now. like, I think it’s a 50:50. I’m gonna sway towards Jake a little bit more.”

Nate Diaz reveals 4 week bender before Jake Paul fight I could sleep easy fighting that guy

Nate Diaz says he didn’t really care for his boxing match against Jake Paul.

Diaz made his boxing debut on August 5, 2023, against Paul in a highly-anticipated bout. It was an intriguing matchup, but in the end, it was Paul who won by a lopsided decision, as he even dropped Diaz.

However, nearly a year after the fight, Nate Diaz says he didn’t take the fight seriously as he says he went on a bender leading up to the bout.

Nate Diaz eyes return at Las Vegas Sphere and fight at UFC 306 I'll be here

“I went on a four-week bender before the fight,” Diaz said to ESPN MMA. “We trained hard for months on months and we were over it, me and my whole team. So I sat back and started kicking it. I was over training. If it was a scary opponent, you wouldn’t allow yourself to do that. But it was just easy to go to sleep at night fighting that guy. But it was good that it happened like that because now it’s necessary to work out, get disciplined, and go back and whip his ass.”

“I’m the weakest puncher, and you’re the one that wanted to fight 30 pounds over my original weight division?” Diaz added. “You think I was just trying to sit there and just knock you out? Like throw as hard of punches as I can? I was just getting through that fight because I was half way to my potential that day.”

Although Nate Diaz lost the fight, he says he’s already over it and wasn’t impressed by Jake Paul’s skills or power.

Nate Diaz linked to massive fighting return at UFC 300 social media post it's time

“For one, I was injured and I couldn’t even really throw a punch,” Diaz said. “I was f—ed up. And for two, he was the easiest fight I ever had. That was the longest fight at the heaviest weightclass I ever had. Never got tired. Never got hurt. Nothing.

“Even when I got knocked down, I think it was timing because it didn’t hurt, I got up like ‘You good?’ ‘Oh, I’m fine.’ I thought he was pretty weak himself,” Diaz added.

Nate Diaz set to face Jorge Masvidal

Nate Diaz will now have his second boxing match as he’ll take on Jorge Masvidal on Saturday.

Diaz Masvidal Face off

It’s an intriguing matchup and serves as the rematch of their UFC fight which Masvidal won by doctor stoppage to win the BMF belt. Heading into the rematch, Diaz says he’s taking it more seriously and says his training camp has been much better.

“A lot better than the last fight, that’s for damn sure!” he exclaimed.

Diaz is +200 underdog against Masvidal in the rematch on July 6.

Jake Paul tells UFC champ Sean O’Malley that Nate Diaz is ‘the weakest puncher’ he’s ever fought

Jake Paul has no shortage of opponents lined up, but that won’t stop him from continuously trying to goad ex-UFC star Nate Diaz into a rematch.

‘The Problem Child’ first met Diaz inside the squared circle last August. After going 10 rounds in The Lone Star State, Paul was declared the winner via unanimous decision. Immediately following the fight, Paul challenged the ‘Stockton Samurai’ to a big-money rematch in MMA under the Professional Fighters League banner.

Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz

Despite being promised what would likely be the biggest payday of his combat sports career, Diaz has shown little interest in fighting Paul inside the Smart Cage.

“Nate Diaz is ducking me in MMA. He’s actually ducking [an MMA fight], which is crazy,” Paul said on a new episode of his BS podcast. “We upped [the offer] to $15 million. But he actually doesn’t want to do it.”

Sean O’Malley, who was serving as a guest on Paul’s podcast, offered a rather diplomatic response, suggesting that if things were to stay on the feet, Paul would certainly have a chance. But if it goes to the ground, well that’s another story.

“I don’t know how much jiujitsu you know,” O’Malley said. “Nate’s a high-level black belt. If you can keep it standing, one hundred percent there are winnable ways there. If it went to the ground, I think he might be able to grab your neck” (h/t MMA Junkie).

“That’s exactly how I feel about it,” Paul replied. “If I don’t get guillotined, then I win the fight. But even if he was on top of him I would just throw him off of me. Because he’s honestly the weakest puncher I’ve ever fought. Like, when he was hitting me I almost started laughing. I’m not even saying this to talk sh*t. Out of everyone I’ve sparred in my whole entire life and everyone I’ve fought, his punches are the weakest.

“I’m literally not even talking sh*t, which is why I think it’s funny that he dropped Conor and sh*t because it’s like, how?”

Jake Paul books a bout with mike perry ahead of tyson fight

On July 20, Jake Paul will return to the squared circle for a scrap with the BKFC’s reigning ‘King of Violence’ Mike Perry. The bout will emanate from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on the same night that he was originally scheduled to face former unified heavyweight boxing world champion ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

Jake Paul

In May, Tyson suffered a medical emergency during a cross-country flight from Miami. Fortunately, the incident was chalked up to an unclear flare-up and not something more serious. Still, Tyson was advised to rest for the next few weeks, preventing him from training two months out from fight night.

Now, Paul vs. Tyson has been moved to November 15, freeing up Paul to fight ‘Platinum’ in The Sunshine State.

Instead of getting Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson with your Netflix subscription this summer, ‘The Problem Child’ wants you to shell out an extra $64.99 to see him throw hands with BKFC’s ‘King of Violence.’

After his fight with Tyson was pushed back to November due to an ulcer flare-up suffered by the 57-year-old former champion, Paul booked a bout with ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry for July 20 in Tampa. With the event airing exclusively on DAZN pay-per-view, fans knew they were going to have to spend some of their hard-earned coin to watch it.

Unfortunately, it also looks like it’ll cost you more than any other Paul fight before it.

Previously, the YouTuber’s fights with Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and a slew of others ran you a cool $59.95. This time, it’ll be an extra $5 to get your fix.

At least it’s still cheaper than the Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masivdal boxing match.

“I’m on a tear,” Paul said on The MMA Hour. “I’m not slowing down for anybody. If people want to delay fights, I’ve got to get my experience in the ring. I love fighting. I love going under the bright lights and I love putting on shows for the fans and I will become champion but to do that, I need experience. Mike Tyson is an absolute killer and I do want to face another absolute killer.”

Jake Paul ready to welcome Mike Perry to the world of boxing

Jake Paul is 9-1 in his professional boxing career with a majority of his victories coming against ex-MMA stars. In his last two outings, he did test his skills against a couple of “legit” boxers, though Andre August and Ryan Bourland were far from household names.

Still, ‘The Problem Child’ padded his record with a couple of highlight-reel knockouts in the opening round, giving him more fuel to fire back at the haters.

Jake Paul

His only loss came via a split decision against Tommy Fury, the younger brother of former WBO heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury.

As for Mike Perry, the UFC standout-turned-BKFC brawler has become the biggest draw under the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship banner, going a perfect 5-0 in his first five appearances, including wins over Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Thiago Alves.
