Things got a little chippy between Nate Diaz and Jake Paul as the two fighters went face-to-face for the first time during a Tuesday afternoon press conference.

Both men were on hand to promote their August 5 clash set to go down at American Airlines Center in Dallas. During the media event, Nate Diaz and Jake Paul had their first face-off and things got every so slightly physical between the two outspoken combat sports stars.

Following the press event, Nate Diaz confirmed that there was no rematch clause built into his fight contract with Jake Paul.

“No. No rematch clause. I’ve been through hella contracts where it’s just on and on and on. You can’t get out so I’m like, let’s just do things one step at a time,” Diaz said. “If we need a rematch, then we need a rematch. I ain’t hiding from nothing and I want a rematch if I lose too.”

The Stockton Samurai also confirmed that the two parties will distribute profits from the August 5 matchup evenly in a 50/50 split.

As for what comes following his highly anticipated clash with Jake Paul, Nate Diaz suggested a return to the Octagon is possible, so long as he had the opportunity to fight for a title. If not, he’s more than willing to stick with boxing and look for his first world championship in the sweet science.

“That’s an option, the UFC,” Diaz continued. “I would like to (return). At the end of the day, I’d like to go back and fight for a world title. If not, I’m going to have make my own world title and make the best come to me. I would like to be back in the UFC or fight the belt holders in boxing, also” (h/t MMA Junkie)

Nate Diaz plans UFC return following Jake Paul fight get my belts back

Nate Diaz made a pretty bold claim during his appearance at the official press conference to promote his August clash with social media star Jake Paul.

After 15 years with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Nate Diaz walked away from the promotion after securing a fourth-round submission victory over fellow fan-favorite Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 last September. Nearly a year removed from his last appearance for the Las Vegas-based promotion, the Stockton Samurai will make his squared circle debut, squaring off with ‘The Problem Child’ in a high-profile professional boxing bout.

During the Q&A portion of the press event to hype up fans and the media for their August 5 meeting, Nate Diaz made a claim that got a chuckle even from his most loyal fans.

“I’m the best fighter to have ever fought in the UFC,” Diaz claimed.

While Nate Diaz has never been one to downplay his own skills or accomplishments, it was a pretty bold statement for the fighter to make given his 16-11 record inside the Octagon and a lack of UFC championships on his resume.

Nate Diaz Preparing for Fight with Jake Paul Amid Legal Issues

Nevertheless, Nate Diaz has established himself as one of the biggest names in combat sports for his brash attitude and his penchant for getting into confrontations everywhere he goes. Recently, Diaz got into hot water with the New Orleans Police Department after engaging in a Bourbon Street brawl following a DAZN boxing event in The Big Easy. The Stockton native was caught on camera choking out a known Logan Paul look-a-like named Rodney Petersen. Three days later, an arrest warrant was issued for Diaz.

He turned himself in without an issue and plans to challenge the second-degree battery charges, citing self-defense. Many fighters have already come out in defense of the Ultimate Fighter alumnus, suggesting the viral video clearly shows Petersen moving forward and engaging, giving Diaz no choice, but to defend himself.

Firing back at upcoming boxing opponent, Nate Diaz, controversial professional boxer, Jake Paul has also now accused the Stockton native of steroid abuse in the past, offering to make their August boxing clash a 15 round matchup.

Paul, who boasts a 6-1 professional record, has been sidelined since headlining a pay-per-view event against reality television star, Tommy Fury – the half-brother of WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia – suffering his first professional loss in a decision blemish.

As for Diaz, the Stockton fan-favorite completed his contractual obligations with the UFC back in September of last year, bowing out of the Octagon with a fourth round guillotine choke submission win over former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson.

Signing to fight Ohio puncher, Jake Paul in a professional boxing match over the course of eight rounds at the middleweight limit in August of this year in Dallas, Texas – Diaz, who was the subject of an arrest warrant in New Orleans this week, offered to fight the former over 12 rounds, accusing him of steroid use

Jake Paul accuses Nate Diaz of abusing steroids to boot

Akin to Diaz, Paul – the younger brother of WWE superstar, Logan Paul, claimed Diaz had tested positive for banned substances in the past, as well as offering to up the ante and fight him over the course of 15 rounds at the American Airlines Center.

“You speaking to me Nathan?” Jake Paul tweeted in response to Nate Diaz. “We haven’t forgotten that you tested positive for steroids. You and your boyfriend Connor (sic) (Conor McGregor) are juice heads. Let’s do 15 rounds and see how good those cannabis corroded lungs are. VADA going to be coming to Stockton to slap you up.”

Enjoying a roughshod run over UFC veterans during his professional boxing career, Paul has landed victories over former promotional champions, Tyron Woodley, as well as Anderson Silva, and former ONE Championship and Bellator MMA titleholder, Ben Askren.

Nate Diaz accuses Jake Paul of steroid use ahead of August boxing match

Former UFC fighter Nate Diaz calls for upcoming Jake Paul boxing match to be over 12 rounds.

Diaz is set to take on influencer turned boxer, Paul, on August 5 in Dallas, Texas – in what has all the making to be a gigantic event. The pair are set to compete at a catchweight of 185lbs

However, Diaz is currently facing legal trouble following an incident this past weekend where the Stockton native would choke a man unconscious before dropping him onto the floor. Diaz recently turned himself into New Orleans police following them issuing a warrant for a charge of second-degree battery.

Nate Diaz calls for 12 rounds

If these issues cause no issue for the event, Diaz and Paul are set to do battle over eight rounds, however, Diaz is now calling for four more rounds to be tacked on, making it the equivalent of a championship boxing contest.

‘12 rounds. Ur on steroids so let’s put that shit to work’- Diaz tweeted.

While the accusations are hard to prove and there has been no announcement on whether there will be testing throughout the process, the twelve rounds would definitely play into Diaz’s. The 38-year-old has unbelievable cardio, competing in triathlons in his spare time, and never seemed to get tired during his fights.

This pace setting along with his iron chin, Diaz would hold a huge advantage over Paul, who lacks significant experience even over six rounds and has never come close to fighting someone with the experience and engine of Diaz.

Paul will of course hold his own advantages, notably size, youth and ‘professional’ boxing experience. Regardless of it being a high-level boxing affair, the two contrasting personality and backstories should make for an interesting watch.

Involved in a street fight on Bourbon Street in New Orleans following a Misfits boxing event over the weekend, footage emerged of Diaz kneeing TikTok influencer, Rodney Petersen in the body during a clinch exchange, before choking him unconscious with a front choke, and dropping him on the concrete pavement, allegedly causing a grisly laceration on Petersen’s head.

Casting doubt on his own scheduled August boxing match against Ohio native, Paul, Diaz urged the 6-1 puncher to fight the above-mentioned, KSi – claiming he would himself search for a “real fighter” for his long-awaited professional boxing debut.

Vitor Belfort offers to box Nate Diaz in August in Miami, Florida

And it appears the former UFC lightweight title challenger may have a willing dance partner in the form of Brazilian veteran, Belfort, who offered to share the squared circle with him in August.

“@NateDiaz209 you are a real fighter, I don’t know why u giving him (Jake Paul) the pleasure to fight you,” Vitor Belfort tweeted. “I would love to boxe (sic) you. Legend vs. Legend, from different generation. @ufc but with the best boxing skills in the game. Let’s boxe (sic) in Miami August? @Vaynersports let’s make this happen.”

Making his return to professional boxing at the beginning of this month, Vitor Belfort rematched former UFC opponent and compatriot, Jacare Souza in Milwaukee, landing a unanimous decision victory over the former Strikeforce champion. Back in September 2021, Belfort handed veteran former world champion, Evander Holyfield with a brutal first round knockout in the pair’s exhibition boxing clash.

Nate Diaz casts doubt on Jake Paul fight following arrest warrant in New Orleans street fight

UFC alum, Nate Diaz has thrown his expected August professional boxing match with Jake Paul into jeopardy on social media overnight, as he breaks his silence for the first time since an arrest warrant was issued by the New Orleans Police Department for the former, who is facing a second-degree battery charge in relation to his part in a street fight on Bourbon Street in New Orleans over the weekend.

Diaz, a former UFC lightweight title challenger, and welterweight title challenger, was involved in a mass-brawl on Bourbon Street in Louisiana over the course of last weekend following a Misfits boxing event.

With footage emerging across social media, Stockton native, Nate Diaz appears to engage in a fight with a TikTok influencer, Rodney Petersen, landing a knee strike to his body during a clinch, before choking the man unconscious with a front choke before dropping him on the ground.

Nate Diaz has yet to be taken into police custody

Showing off a grisly head injury and laceration, apparently caused by Diaz, a spokesperson for the New Orleans Police Department confirmed that an arrest warrant for the Californian had been issued, and he is currently awaited in police custody following his part in the brawl in the French Quarter.

Reacting to the above-mentioned, Paul’s offer to YouTuber and musician, KSI to serve as backup for their scheduled August middleweight boxing match in Dallas, Texas – Diaz urged the duo to fight each other, casting doubt on his own fight with Paul.

“Lol why don’t u to (sic) scared p*ssys just fight each other August,” Nate Diaz tweeted. “I’ll fight someone who can really fight.”

Exiting the UFC following the completion of his contractual obligations with the promotion back in November of last year, Diaz headlined UFC 279 back in September of last year against former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson – scoring a fourth round guillotine choke submission triumph.
