UFC Austin: Beneil Dariush vs. Arman Tsarukyan - Live Streams, Start Times, Full Card

On the road for the first time since last month’s visit to New York City, the Octagon is set to land in the Moody Center tonight in Austin, Texas – hosting a ‘Fight Night’ billed card featuring a pair of eye-catching lightweight scraps atop the showcase at UFC Austin.

Taking main event honors, perennial lightweight contender, Beneil Dariush returns to the Octagon for the first time since June, taking on Armenian grappler, Armen Tsarukyan over the course of five rounds.

Sidelined since co-headlining UFC 289 in Canada earlier this summer, Kings MMA staple, Dariush saw his stunning eight-fight winning streak come to an end in the form of a first round ground strikes TKO loss to former undisputed champion, Charles Oliveira.

As for Tsarukyan, the highly-touted lightweight contender, who holds the number eight rank in the division, has landed two consecutive wins recently, defeating both Damir Ismagulov, and then stopping Joaquim Silva with strikes back in June to boot.

Remaining on the card following the removal of his opponent, Dan Hooker through a fractured arm injury, perennial contender, Bobby Green makes a co-main event return, taking on short-notice replacement, Jalin Turner at UFC Austin.

Last time out, Green, who submitted former interim champion, Tony Ferguson back in July, stopped the surging, Grant Dawson with a 33-second KO at UFC Vegas 80 in October.

As for Turner, the Dana White’s Contender Series staple takes on Green off the back of consecutive defeats to lightweight contenders, Hooker, and Polish standout, Mateusz Gamrot.

After an insane battle with Jalin Turner at UFC 290, Dan Hooker has now revealed the true extent of the damage he suffered, and clarified if he did truly “break his arm”.

After the split-decision victory, ‘The Hangman’ was interviewed by Joe Rogan inside the octagon. Hooker made for quite a sight, as his hair was stained red from all the blood spilled during the fight. “He’s (Jalin Turner) a tough kid,” Hooker chuckled. “Scrappy… I wanted my hair pink (with blood) from the fight and I got it.”

Rogan would ask Dan Hooker if he broke his arm during the fight and the fighter grinned and said: “Just a scratch, but, we’ll have to see.” This would prompt Hooker and Rogan to begin laughing, and later on ‘The Hangman’ would indeed go to the hospital where x-rays would show he broke his wrist during the insane battle.

Later on that night, Hooker would tweet a photo of the x-ray of his broken wrist. An injury that is not the end of the world, but, definitely will keep him sidelined for a while and impact his daily life for quite some time.

At the post-fight press conference, Dana White himself would reveal that Hooker broke his wrist in the second round of the fight. Dan Hooker’s spirits seemed to be high though, as ‘The Hangman’ would later on post a picture of him and Jalin Turner side-by-side in the hospital.

While the pair would not end up winning the “Fight of The Night” bonus, Hooker would, in fact, receive 20% of Jalin Turner’s fight purse due to ‘The Tarantula’ missing weight leading into the fight.

What’s next for Dan Hooker after that bloody battle at UFC 290?

Dan Hooker scored a split decision victory on Saturday night following an incredible three-round war with Jalin Turner at UFC 290.

The opening round was reminiscent of a chess match with each fighter taking their time, keeping their distance, and plotting their next few moves in advance. Turner appeared as the faster fighter, landing multiple combinations in response to Hooker’s repeated kicks to the legs, body, and head.

While the opening round was relatively close, the second round saw all hell break loose beginning with a lightning-fast head kick from Turner that landed clean on Hooker. Smelling blood in the water, Turner moved in and unloaded a flurry of strikes, but Hooker was able to endure the onslaught and eventually turn the tables. Hooker somehow recovered from the brutal blow and stormed back, pushing Turner to the fence, and unloading a series of strikes that sent Turner to the canvas. Hooker jumped on Turner’s back and managed to lock in a rear-naked choke, but Turner was saved by the bell.

The third round saw Turner attempt to mount a comeback, but his gas tank was clearly depleted. Hooker pushed the pace and scored his first takedown of the fight, maintaining top position for the majority of the round. With mere seconds remaining, Turner was able to muster the strength to get back to his feet, but by then there was no time left to mount any additional offense.

Official Result: Dan Hooker def. Jalin Turner via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

Mateusz Gamrot def. Jalin Turner via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to us tonight, March 4, 2023, for UFC 285, headlined by back-to-back title fights showcasing the return of former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former interim UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane, as well as UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko, who faces no. 6 ranked Alexa Grasso in attempt to make the eighth successful defense of her title in the co-main event of the evening.

Our second bout on the main card tonight came at 155 lbs between a pair of contenders in no. 7 ranked former KSW champ-champ Mateusz Gamrot and the surging no. 10 ranked Jalin Turner.

Gamrot lost his most recent fight to current no. 4 ranked Beneil Dariush, a fight he went into on a three-fight finish streak, while Turner came into tonight’s bout on a five-fight finish streak of his own.

Round one

Gamrot secures a takedown about two minutes into the opening round, though Turner works back to his feet shortly thereafter. He’s still being pressed into the fence, but breaks the clinch with a nicely timed knee to the body followed by a two-punch combination.

Round two

Gamrot lands a nice right hand to the body to begin the second, and he’s beginning to pick Turner apart with his leg kicks.

Turner then lands a stunning right hand that hurts Gamrot, and follows it up with some more crisp punches for the next minute, as well as some nasty body kicks.

Gamrot catches one of those body kicks however and takes Turner back down, ending the final 90 seconds of the second in top position.

Round three

Gamrot’s wrestling-heavy attack continues to work for him into the final stretch, as he takes Turner down at the beginning, and end of the round once again. Turner was able to land some effective strikes in the middle there, but he wasn’t able to keep Gamrot off him and it cost him the win.

Mateusz Gamrot snaps Jalin Turner’s five-fight finish streak tonight at UFC 285.
