James Krause, an alum of the UFC who competed in the promotion’s welterweight division, is slated to sell his ownership in Glory MMA & Fitness in Kansas City, amid the ongoing investigation into betting practices from coaches and fighters in the UFC – which has seen Krause’s license suspended in the state of Nevada.

“James Krause has elected to sell all ownership in Glory MMA and its affiliates to Fighting Alliance Championships owner & Iridium Sports agent, Joe Wooster,” MMA Insiders tweeted. “Wooster is the founder of the Kansas City-based FAC fight promotion and appears to have had a longstanding relationship w/ Krause prior to his takeover.”

“FAC recently had its unplanned broadcast for this upcoming Friday removed from the UFC FightPass app and I’m hearing that Krause has opted to sell his stake in all gyms connected to both the UFC and the regional fight promotion in a bid to absolve his gym, it’s fighters & all of its affiliates from the current embargo placed on fighters training out of Krause affiliated gyms.”

“UFC fighters were previously barred from training at Glory MMA gyms and fighting the promotion simultaneously and risked having their fights cancelled if they continued. Krause hopes this sale will allow his fighters to resume training at the Lee Summit location while fighting in the UFC AND allow FAC to return to FightPass. It is unclear how many UFC fighters will choose to stay or return to the Kansas City gym considering Krause was the main attraction and current head coach of the gym.”

“Brandon Moreno & Julian Marquez have already left for Vegas in preparation for their upcoming fights, so a return from eight fighter anytime soon appears unlikely. The belief is that Krause will be excusing himself from MMA indefinitely, and possibly for good, following the sale of his Kansas City gyms. More coming.”

James Krause has been suspended from cornering by the NSAC

An investigation was launched following a UFC Vegas 64 bout featuring James Krause’s student, Darrick Minner, and Shayilan Nuerdianbieke, with Minner suffered a quickfire first round knockout loss. Minner had entered the fight with a reported pre-existing injury, with notable bets attempted to be fielded on Nuerdianbieke ahead of the bout, leading to flagging. Minner was subsequently released from the UFC following the defeat.

UFC middleweight Sean Strickland recently spoke with Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie in an interview and discussed the James Krause gambling scandal.

Due to abnormalities surrounding James Krause’s fighters on gambling lines, the UFC has cut all ties to Krause’s gym and athletes. Krause is currently under investigation by multiple authorities.

Sean Strickland laid out his thoughts in plan language; if Krause guilty then he should be gone. Strickland explained:

“I don’t know what the f*ck happened with Krause, I don’t even f*ckin’ know Krause. But, if there is any fight throwing bullsh*t; fuck Krause. The guy should never be back allowed in the UFC and they should close down his gym.”

However, if there is no wrong doing, then let the man be free. Strickland continued:

“Now, if it’s all bullsh*t and it’s just some guys being assh*les, then, you know, move on, let the guy have a life. But if what they’re saying is true, if he was throwing fights and changing fights then give that guy the boot, he don’t belong here.”

The US-born Strickland is coming off a knockout loss to now-champion Alex Pereira. On December 18, Strickland will be fighting UFC middleweight Jared Cannonier in a UFC Fight Night Main event.

Matt Brown agrees with Sean Strickland

Veteran UFC athlete Matt Brown agrees with the assessment from Sean Strickland. In an interview with SB Nation’s The Fighter vs. The Writer, Matt Brown explained:

“Sounds like he went to the well one too many times on this one though, right? He reached a little too far, overstepped his boundaries and now he’s looking like Pete Rose out here. Long story short, James Krause is f****d. Everything he’s worked for is going down the drain from this. I’ve never seen anything like this.” [H/T MMAFighting]

Matt Brown is still an active MMA fighter but currently has no fight scheduled.

Matt Brown thinks James Krause chanced his luck one too many times.

It was announced last week that anyone associated with Krause or his gym Glory MMA would not be allowed to compete in the UFC. This stems from an investigation into Krause’s involvement with suspicious betting activity on a fight involving Darrick Minner, a fighter he trains and corners.

This story has rocked the MMA world and has even resulted in some states banning placing bets on UFC events and no fighters signed to the organization can place bets on UFC fights including through third parties.

UFC veteran Matt Brown, who has previously dealings with Krause gave his two cents on the situation, saying that he always thought highly of the 36-year-old but admitting that he may be in too deep to come back from.

I always thought he was a good dude,” Brown said about Krause on The Fighter vs. The Writer. “Very, very smart with coaching, very smart with business stuff. I actually picked up some tips from him for business stuff, he’s a very intelligent guy.

Brown is currently coming off a loss to fellow welterweight Bryan Barberena back in March of this year. ‘The Immortal’ does not have an opponent booked but at 41 years old, it will be one of the last for the MMA legend.

Bellator MMA President Scott Coker has issued a statement regarding the investigation of James Krause’s suspicious betting activities following UFC Vegas 64.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Krause on November 18th following a bout earlier in the month between Darrick Minner, who trains with Krause, and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke. Hours before the bout, betting lines swung massively in favor of Nuerdanbieke to win inside the distance. It was later revealed that Minner had shown up for the bout with an undisclosed leg injury sustained prior to the event. Minner has since been released by the promotion.

As a result of the investigation, the gaming control board in New Jersey has announced sanctions against James Krause directly while the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Ontario have prohibited UFC betting altogether. In a prepared statement courtesy of MMA Fighting, Coker fully supports the UFC’s actions to help protect the “integrity of MMA.”

“As a lifelong martial artist, integrity and honor have been the foundation upon which I have built my career as a Mixed Martial Arts promoter, and I believe that it is of utmost importance that the integrity of MMA remains unquestioned,” Coker stated in the release. “It is my understanding that certain regulatory agencies have taken action that they deem necessary to ensure that any appearance of impropriety is removed from our sport, and I support those actions.

Bellator MMA is a promotion that highly values the importance of independent regulation of our sport, and we will continue to abide by the mandates of the regulatory bodies which sanction and oversee our events.”

Brandon Moreno Shares His Support For James Krause Amid Controversy

The UFC’s chief business officer Hunter Campbell released a statement on Friday revealing that any fighters who continue to be coached by James Krause or train at his gym, Glory MMA and Fitness, will not be permitted to compete under the UFC banner.

“UFC has since advised Krause and the respective managers working with impacted fighters, that effective immediately, fighters who choose to continue to be coached by Krause or who continue to train in his gym, will not be permitted to participate in UFC events pending the outcome of the aforementioned government investigations.”

James Krause’s most notable student today is UFC interim flyweight champion, Brandon Moreno. ‘The Assassin Baby’ is scheduled for a title unification bout with division rival Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 283 on January 21st when the promotion heads back to Brazil. Moreno shared support for his coach on Instagram, sharing a photo of the two embracing one another with the caption, “Waiting for justice.”

Deiveson Figueiredo

UFC flyweight championship holder, Deiveson Figueiredo has blasted incoming opponent, interim titleholder, Brandon Moreno his association with GLORY MMA & Fitness head coach, James Krause – labelling him a “fight fixer” and promising to KO the interim gold holder in January.

Slated to feature at UFC 283 in January in his return to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, flyweight kingpin, Deiveson Figueiredo will meet interim gold holder, Moreno for the fourth time in the pair’s respective careers – with the former regaining the title with a decision win at UFC 270 in January of this year.

First meeting Moreno back in December 2020, Figueiredo managed to retain his championship in a split draw against the Baja California favorite, before suffering a title loss via submission the following year.

Meeting for the third time at the beginning of this year, Figueiredo defeated Moreno in a close decision win, setting up a fourth title fight between the two for January in the organization’s return to Brazil.

Deiveson Figueiredo promises to KO Brandon Moreno at UFC 283 in Brazil

Commenting on Moreno’s relationship with the aforenoted, Krause, who has seen his license suspended in Nevada by the state athletic commission amid an investigation following the flagging of suspicious betting activity, Figueiredo promised to knockout Moreno in January next.

“What a cute couple!” Deiveson Figueiredo tweeted. “A traitor working with a man who fixes fights. Ain’t no fixing this fight so tell your ex-coach to bet the house because I’m knocking your traitor ass out! @Assassinbaby (Brandon Moreno).”

Figueiredo’s comments come off the back of an official statement release from the UFC, who confirmed last night that should any fighter on their roster continue to train at Krause’s gym or under the tutelage of the organizational alum, they would be prohibited from taking part in events hosted by the UFC.

First winning the vacant flyweight championship in July of 2020, Figueiredo stopped Joseph Benavidez in a title rematch on ‘Fight Island’ – submitting the veteran with a first round submission after scoring multiple knockdowns.
