UFC lightweight staple, Bobby Green is set for a quickfire Octagon return on April 22. – booking a 155lbs clash against Jared Gordon at a UFC Fight Night event. At the time of publication, an official location, or venue has yet to be determined by the organization.

Featuring most recently in his Octagon return at UFC Vegas 66 last December, Green suffered a second round rallying KO loss against division heavy-hitter, Drew Dober. The defeat came as the San Bernardino native’s second consecutively following a February main event loss to current undisputed lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev.

Bobby Green has competed under the Zuffa LLC umbrella since 2013

For Queens native, Gordon, the lightweight contender also featured in December of last year – in the co-main event of UFC 282 against Liverpool challenger, Paddy Pimblett. Battling over three rounds with the polarizing grappler, Gordon suffered a unanimous decision loss in a much-criticized and contentious result. News of Bobby Green’s return against Jared Gordon was first reported by MMA Junkie reporters, Nolan King, and Farah Hannoun

“Jared Gordon (19-6) vs. Bobby Green (29-14-1) is set for the #UFC event on April 22, multiple sources tell @Farah_Hannoun and me. Location TBD. Story headed to @MMAJunkie.”

Without a victory since February of last year, veteran fan-favorite, Green landed a second consecutive victory before his loss to Makhachev, in the form of a one-sided judging win over Nasrat Haqparast.

Prior to that triumph, the Californian stopped Al Iaquinta with a series of first round strikes at UFC 268 in November 2021. The stoppage earned Green a Performance of the Night post-fight bonus

Gordon, 34, had entered his lightweight fight with Pimblett off the back of a unanimous decision win of his own over Leonardo Santos.

Following a loss to former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira in the former titleholder’s native, Brazil – Gordon embarked on a three-fight winning streak against Chris Fishgold, Danny Chavez, and Joe Solecki.

Jared Gordon Says Belal Muhammad Can Surprise Leon Edwards On The Feet

Belal Muhammad comes into his first UFC title fight with tons of confidence that he is the best welterweight in the world.

His winning streak has been very impressive but in the champion Leon Edwards, he faces a very tough test at UFC 304 this weekend.

It doesn’t take an expert analyst to break down why the challenger’s wrestling will be crucial in this fight if he is able to take Edwards’ striking game away from him.

During a fight week interview with InsideFighting, his teammate Jared Gordon broke down how he sees the fight playing out.

Whilst he expects Muhammad to really come into his own in the second half of the fight, he also predicted that he might be able to catch “Rocky” off guard when it comes to the stand-up battle.

“I see Belal surprising him on the feet and I think his pressure and the later rounds is what’s going to separate them and Belal always does better in the later rounds where Leon tends to fade, you know. So I think Belal’s going to have to get through that first round, second round, and then he’s going to cook him.”

Social Media Video Shows Tony Ferguson Repeatedly Landing Straight Punches Against Paddy Pimblett

Paddy Pimblett will face the toughest test of his UFC run to date this weekend when he takes on King Green in Manchester.

Whilst “The Baddy” has had a lot of success inside the Octagon, his striking defense has been called into question a few times.

This is something he’s been working on extensively in recent times and against the boxing skills of Green, it’s sure to be a major factor at UFC 304.

A recent highlights compilation posted on X showed how Tony Ferguson was able to have success against Pimblett at UFC 296 by utilizing his straight punches.

“El Cucuy” didn’t deal a whole lot of damage in the fight but he was able to consistently land these shots.

With Green being known for his speed and combinations, not taking too many jabs or straights may have been a significant part of the Brit’s training camp for this next outing.

Alexander Gustafsson Says He Can See Tom Aspinall Beating Jon Jones If They Ever Fight

There aren’t many fighters that know Jon Jones better than his former light heavyweight rival, Alexander Gustaffson.

“The Mauler” fought tooth and nail with “Bones” 11 years ago in one of the best title fights we’ve ever seen and met him for a second time in a rematch.

Despite interim champion Tom Aspinall returning to defend his title this weekend against Curtis Blaydes, the match-up that many have been speaking about is the Brit taking on Jones at some stage.

Gustaffson spoke in a recent interview with Crypto Sports Betting (h/t FightBook MMA) where he said that if the fight happens, he believes England’s Aspinall has what it takes to be the first man to beat the consensus greatest of all time.

“Yes, I think Tom will be too much for Jon. He has all the weapons to beat Jon. Jon hasn’t been that active, but he’s still the GOAT. You can never count this guy out, he’s so freaking good at what he does. He’s handled every opponent and everybody knows how good he is, but Aspinall right now, I see him as very dangerous for Jon,” Gustafsson continued. “He’s dangerous on his feet, he’s fast, he has great footwork, and he’s a smart fighter. He has the tools to do good against Jon and even beat him. If they will fight, now is the time for Aspinall. He could go down as one of the best heavyweights ever.”

Joe Rogan claims Jared Gordon should have beaten Paddy Pimblett at UFC 282: ‘It wasn’t a blowout’

Joe Rogan Paddy PimblettUFC color commentator and podcast host, Joe Rogan has claimed that UFC lightweight, Paddy Pimblett likely should have suffered his first promotional loss last month at UFC 282, picking opponent, Jared Gordon to defeat the Liverpool native at the T-Mobile Arena.  Featuring in the co-main event of UFC 282, Pimblett managed to move to 4-0 […]

Joe Rogan Paddy Pimblett

UFC color commentator and podcast host, Joe Rogan has claimed that UFC lightweight, Paddy Pimblett likely should have suffered his first promotional loss last month at UFC 282, picking opponent, Jared Gordon to defeat the Liverpool native at the T-Mobile Arena.

Featuring in the co-main event of UFC 282, Pimblett managed to move to 4-0 in the organization with a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) victory over New York native, Gordon.

In the immediate aftermath of the co-headlining matchup, various media members and commenters in the mixed martial arts community voiced their displeasure with the result in question, claiming Gordon likely should have taken the judging triumph himself instead of Pimblett.

Joe Rogan argues Jared Gordon should have scored a win at UFC 282

Footage also emerged of UFC color commentator, Rogan, rolling his eyes and throwing back his head in disbelief as Pimblett was announced as the winner by Octagon announcer, Bruce Buffer.

And in the aftermath of the dubious result, Rogan argued Gordon’s case for a win against Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports – whom Pimblett is partnered with.

“I thought Jared (Gordon) won,” Joe Rogan said on The Joe Rogan Experience. “I thought Jared Gordon won that fight. But it was a good fight, it certainly wasn’t a blowout, it wasn’t one of those fights where there was no f*cking way [Paddy Pimblett won]. It was a close fight.”

Yet to be booked for his next Octagon walk, Pimblett has received a slew of offers from lightweight contenders, including Renato Moicano, and Terrance McKinney since his win over Gordon.

Prior to his judging win over Gordon, Pimblett landed a trio of finishes over Jordan Leavitt, Kazula Vargas, and Luigi Vendramini since his UFC debut back in September 2021. Before his eventual move to the UFC, Pimblett had minted himself as an undisputed Cage Warriors featherweight titleholder.

UFC 304’s Paddy Pimblett Bemoans Jared Gordon ‘Robbery’ Still Being Brought Up: ‘People Need To Watch Khabib vs. Gleison Tibau!’

UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett believes fans are focusing more on his controversial decision victory over Jared Gordon than some actual “robberies.” Pimblett is set to return to action for his first assignment of 2024 at this weekend’s UFC 304 pay-per-view event, where the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England, will play host to his first […]

UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett believes fans are focusing more on his controversial decision victory over Jared Gordon than some actual “robberies.”

Pimblett is set to return to action for his first assignment of 2024 at this weekend’s UFC 304 pay-per-view event, where the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England, will play host to his first opportunity to crack the rankings at 155 pounds.

To do so, “The Baddy” must extend his perfect Octagon record at the expense of King Green. The Liverpudlian will enter the contest as an underdog and with significant portions of the MMA community doubting his chances.

That trend has been evident ever since a narrow victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 in December 2022. Having boosted his stock to an all-time high with back-to-back highlight reel submission in London that year, a controversial decision going in his favor appeared to turn a strong chunk of the fanbase against Pimblett.

And the fact that his win over Gordon is still used as a way to detract from his UFC career thus far remains a point of frustration for the ex-Cage Warriors champion…

Pimblett: Gordon Fight Was ‘Close’, Not A ‘Robbery’

During an interview with the New York Post Sports’ Erich Richter, Pimblett looked ahead to his first outing on home soil since 2022 and discussed the two results he’s had in the United States since.

While he’s another fight on from the widely debated decision against Gordon, Pimblett noted that he still gets plenty of comments about it. “The Baddy” bemoaned that fact, pointing to what sees as legitimate robberies that don’t get the level of scrutiny as his “close” bout with Gordon does 19 months later.

“It was a close decision. I do regret saying in the cage after, ‘No way, that wasn’t close!’ But lad, I just fought for 15 minutes,” Pimblett said. “I still get comments on my YouTube to this day, ‘It seems like Paddy’s got more humble now since he fought Jared Gordon.’ Like, what? I’m still the same person. … The fact I said, ‘I think I won that fight,’ people turned on me. I found that absolutely crazy.

“I ended up watching the fight back and was like, ‘Yeah, that was a close fight.’ … But I think if you watch it with commentary, that sways you a lot more towards Jared,” Pimblett continued. “It was a close fight, but I don’t get to this day why it still gets brought up and people still say that it’s a robbery. If that’s a robbery, people need to go watch Khabib vs. Gleison Tibau! Even Jared’s last fight, that’s more of a robbery.”

Nevertheless, while he’s struggled to escape the memory of that controversy in the year and a half since, Pimblett has insisted that the fanbase will be back on his side after he dispatches King Green in violent fashion come fight night in Manchester.

The pair are tasked with setting the stage for two championship headliners, as Pimblett’s fellow countrymen Leon Edwards and Tom Aspinall put their titles on the line.

UFC lightweight contender, Jared Gordon, has revealed he once was caught in the acting of using heroin whilst scheduled to train with color-commenator, Paul Felder ahead of a September 2015 fight with Ross Pearson – with the duo training at former title challenger, Donald Cerrone’s BMF Ranch facility.

Gordon, who most recently co-headlined UFC 282 earlier this month in a highly-criticized unanimous decision loss against promotional perfect contender, Paddy Pimblett – in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The defeat returned Queens native, Gordon back to the losing enclosure after he had briefly returned to winning ways in a unanimous decision win over Brazilian veteran, Leonardo Santos.

Jared Gordon reflects on past heroin addiction

Revealing his struggles with drug abuse and addiction in recent years, Gordon, who was often left homeless or was arrested as a result, recently reflected on the time he passed out whilst using heroin at Cerrone’s training facility.

“One time I was out at Donald Cerrone’s ranch – (Paul) Felder was fighting Ross Pearson, and I was a similar style, shorter, stocky, the way we move, so I was asked to come out for him, and I was shooting dope at the ranch,” Jared Gordon told Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith on the Believe You Me podcast. “Everybody was there, I was shooting heroin.”

“I was passed out in my room on the bed and I think Jonavin (Webb) came to me and was like, ‘Hey, we need to talk to you inside,’” Jared Gordon explained. “When I shot up, i had left my toiletry bag on top of the toilet, with all my dope and needles in there, and I just, like rolled out of the bathroom, and fell on the bed, and passed out. Obviously, someone went to take a piss and they saw it.”

“So, they’re all sitting there in a circle, it was like A&E Intervention,” Jared Gordon said. “They’re like, ‘Hey, man, we found this.’ I was so embarrassed, it was such an embarrassing moment. They helped me. Cerrone knew someone who had an issue with opiates. And they gave me some Suboxone to come off of. And I actually stopped using it for the time I was there. I got off, and it was really tough obviously. I was clean, and when I got home I relapsed.”  (Transcribed by MMA News)
