Elon Musk just doesn’t know when to quit.

Earlier this year, the Tesla Motors CEO was thrust into the MMA limelight after a spat on X (formerly Twitter) with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg resulted in the pair mutually accepting a challenge to fight each other in mixed martial arts. The exchange went largely unnoticed until UFC CEO Dana White injected himself into the conversation in hopes of promoting the fight under his Las Vegas-based banner.

From there, the idea of Musk vs. Zuckerberg took on a life of its own. So much so that even the Colosseum (yes, that Colosseum) was chomping at the bit to host the spectacle.

“I was posting all these fight videos and someone said on Twitter time, ‘Hey, you should fight Zuck.’  I said, ‘Well, I’m willing to fight if he is,’ and then Zuck posted, I think on Instagram or something, ‘Name the place,’ or something, something to that effect.  I said, ‘Okay, how about the Vegas octagon,’” Musk said while explaining how it all got started during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience.

“Italy actually was willing to let us use the Colosseum,” Musk told Rogan. “I was like, ‘Well, can’t turn that down.’ Then I was like, ‘Well if it’s going to be in the Colosseum,’ I like UFC and everything, but we don’t have tons of ads in UFC branding on the Coliseum ’cause it’s a place of great history. You don’t want to have it be all like NASCAR. And then Zuck pulled out.”

Elon Musk Will Fight Mark Zuckerberg ‘Under Any Rules’

In the end, the bout fell apart because the billionaires couldn’t agree on how the fight should be promoted. Musk was adamant that the bout be held inside the iconic amphitheater and streamed exclusively on their respective platforms. Zuckerberg, on the other hand, wanted to co-promote the event with the UFC, allowing other fighters to round out the card and bring some attention to the sport he genuinely loves.

For better or for worse, Zuckerberg decided to walk away from the situation, though it’s clear that Elon Musk still hasn’t let go.

“I don’t need any time,” Musk said of his preparation. “I’m willing to do it anytime, anywhere, any place in the world,” Musk added. “Zuck pulled out, he used the pull-out method… He accused me of not being serious. I said, ‘Listen, at the end of the day, I’ll fight you any place, anywhere, under any rules.’”

Joe Rogan condemns judge’s 96-93 scorecard in favor of fury against Ngannou: ‘[He] should go to jail’

Francis Ngannou

Joe Rogan was left outraged by one particular scorecard following Francis Ngannou’s entertaining 10-round scrap with Tyson Fury in Riyadh.

Emanating from Kingdom Arena in the Saudi Arabian capital, Ngannou delivered a spellbinding performance against one of the greatest boxers in the sport today. Throughout the 30-minute affair, ‘The Predator’ stifled Fury’s offense, busting open the reigning WBC heavyweight champion and even knocking him down in the third round with a well-timed counter left hand.

Despite all his success, Ngannou fell short of scoring the upset, losing on two of the three judges’ scorecards. Judges Alan Krebs and Ed Garner scored it the same 95-94 with Krebs favoring Fury while Garner had it for Ngannou. But it was Juan Carlos Pelayo’s 96-93 score in favor of ‘The Gypsy King’ that had everyone doing a double take, including Rogan who shared his unfiltered frustration over the score.

“Francis Ngannou had never had a boxing match ever in his life, had zero boxing matches, but he was the UFC heavyweight champion, knocked down Tyson Fury in the third round, beat him up in the eighth round,” the longtime UFC commentator said on his ‘The Joe Rogan Experience‘ podcast alongside guest Elon Musk.

“Most people, including me, thought he should’ve won the decision – including most boxers, most boxing pundits. He lost by one point on one judge’s scorecard. He won on one judge’s scorecard, and another judge, who should go to jail, had it 96-93 for Tyson Fury, which is f*cking outrageous.”

Francis Ngannou Flips the Script

Francis Ngannou walked into the bout as a whopping +750 underdog, but by the time the tenth round rolled around, ‘The Predator’ had flipped the script and was listed as the live odds favorite.

“We thought (Fury) was going to run him over because he’s the boxing heavyweight champion,” Rogan continued. “‘There’s no way this guy can box with me.’ He even said at the beginning of the fight, ‘It’s time to go to school,’ and then Francis said at the end of the fight, ‘You are a sh*tty professor’” (h/t Yahoo! Sports).

Following Ngannou’s success in his squared circle debut, fight fans are already clamoring for the former UFC heavyweight champion to try and make a real run in the sweet science, many of them suggesting a fight against knockout artist and three-time Tyson Fury opponent Deontay Wilder.

Joe Rogan Poisoned himself with arsenic By binge eating ‘Three Cans of sardines’ Every Night

Joe Rogan Sardines

You never know what kind of fun facts you’ll walk away with after listening to The Joe Rogan Experience.

Earlier this week, the longtime UFC commentator welcomed Elon Musk onto his popular podcast to talk about a series of interesting subjects. During their conversation, the Tesla Motors CEO shared some insight into his rivalry with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and why their proposed MMA match was suddenly scrapped.

However, things took a sharp turn while the pair were talking about the realities of mercury poisoning in tuna. It was then that Rogan revealed he had gotten arsenic poisoning from, of all things, sardines.

You can get arsenic from sardines, too,” Rogan said. “I found that out the hard way.” Rogan went on to explain his statement. “I got my bloodwork done, and the doctor says, ‘You have arsenic in your blood. I go, ‘Is someone poisoning me?’ He said, ‘It’s very low levels.’”

As it turns out, the arsenic in his blood was due to an addiction to sardines.

Yeah, I eat like three cans of sardines a night. I love sardines. I love them. I really do. I’ve always loved sardines,” Rogan said with passion. “I come home late from the comedy club, and I want something easy to eat. I don’t want to stop for fast food. So I open up a few cans of sardines.”

No More Sardines for Mr. Rogan

Who knew copious amounts of sardine consumption could result in arsenic poisoning?

According to the National Library of Medicine, “Dietary consumption of arsenic is considered the largest source of toxicosis for nonoccupationally exposed individuals as it can be ingested through contaminated underground water, seafood, animal products, and crops irrigated with polluted water.”

Rogan revealed that he has since cut back on his sardine binges. “I stopped doing it. I got my bloodwork done a couple months later, and it was gone.”

Joe Rogan Left Stunned by Islam Makhachev’s Epic Head Kick KO at UFC 294: ‘I’m Just So Impressed’

Joe Rogan was in awe of Islam Makhachev after the ‘Dagestani Destroyer’ finished featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski with a perfectly-timed head kick in the opening round of their UFC 294 headliner.

Eight months removed from their Fight of the Year contender at UFC 284, Islam Makhachev left no questions unanswered this time around has be managed to stop Alexander Volkanovski just past the three-minute mark of the opening round.

No longer traveling out of the country for UFC events, longtime commentator Joe Rogan watched the festivities unfold alongside friends including former heavyweight standout Brendan Schaub and comedian Bryan Callen. Needless to say, the popular podcaster was left stunned by Makhachev’s performance against one of the greatest fighters to ever grace the Octagon.

“Oh my God! He head kicked him,” Rogan said. “Wow! What a shocker. Who would have saw that coming? It was amazing. Shin to the dome, opened up a cut. It was perfect. Islam, man. He showed a bunch of new sh*t. That front kick, and he was throwing that kick to the body, and then he threw the same kick to the head.”

“I’m just so impressed that he won that way,” Rogan added. “He showed so much improvement. He really made adjustments because they must have trained for Volkanovski again, even though he wasn’t fighting Volkanovski (originally). I’m sure they went over all the different things that Volkanovski did, and what are the counters to those things, and he shut a lot of it down. He shut down that switch kick to the outside leg, throwing that front kick up the middle, set up the head kick.”

“He knocked (down) Oliveira in the last fight – remember, his striking was his weakest point. Now it’s f*cking as dangerous as anybody in the division. You knock out Volkanovski? Sh*t” (h/t MMA Junkie).

With Makhachev going two-up on Alexander Volkanovski, ‘The Great’ will likely return to his throne at 145 while the ‘Dagestani Destroyer’ turns his attention back toward a loaded lightweight top-ten and potential matchups with his original UFC 294 opponent, Charles Oliveira, and/or current BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje.

Alexander Volkanovski

Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan was stunned by Islam Makhachev’s first-round knockout of Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 294.

As ‘The Great’ entered the Octagon for another crack at the lightweight world title on 11 days’ notice, fans expected a repeat of his performance eight months earlier when the two men first met at UFC 284. Instead, the MMA community was speechless as the ‘Dagestani Destroyer’ delivered a highlight-reel-worthy head kick that dropped Volkanovski near the three-minute mark of the opening round.

Following it up with some ground-and-pound, the referee had no choice, but to step in and call for the stoppage.

Rogan, who no longer travels out of the country for UFC events, took in all the action on pay-per-view alongside former heavyweight standout Brendan Schaub and comedian Bryan Callen. In a video clip shared by Schaub on X, you can see the popular podcaster’s live reaction to the shocking moment.

Alexander Volkanovski Heads Back to 145 Still on Top

With the win, Makahhev moved to 25-1 in his mixed martial arts career with 14 of those victories coming under the UFC banner. Owner of back-to-back victories against Alexander Volkanovski, the ‘Dagestani Destroyer’ will likely look to settle things with his originally scheduled UFC 294 opponent, Charles Oliveira. Also waiting in the wings is current BMF titleholder Justin Gaethje.

As for Volkanovski, the reigning featherweight champ will return to 145 for an inevitable showdown with Ilia Topuria. ‘The Great’ hopes to make that fight happen in January, but that all depends on whether or not he’s medically cleared following Saturday’s brutal knockout loss.

Joe Rogan believes transgender fighters would get “murdered” competing in the UFC.

Speaking alongside guests Francis Foster and Konstantin Kisin during a recent episode of his popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, the longtime UFC commentator was in the middle of discussing diversity recruiting in the armed forces when he considered what things would look like if the UFC were required to abide by similar guidelines and sign transgender athletes to its roster.

“Imagine if the UFC had to have diversity,” Rogan said. “Do you know what a problem that would be? If they had to have like a certain amount of trans folks… If you had numbers you had to achieve, it wasn’t the best fighters, it was just like who can meet certain criteria. There’s gonna be a bunch of people who get murdered” (h/t Newsweek).

“There’s gonna be a certain percentage of people who are there because they’re just awesome and a certain percentage of people that they have to hire in order to meet these DEI [diversity, equity, and inclusion] standards,” Rogan said as a hypothetical situation for the UFC. “Imagine if the U.K. had one representative that was supposed to be fighting Francis Ngannou, you have one person who’s supposed to step up and fight that guy and it says, ‘Well the right move is to send in a non-binary woman because they don’t get represented in the UFC.’

The debate over trans athletes in competitive sports has been raging on for many years, though there have been very few examples in mixed martial arts. The biggest being trans fighter Fallon Fox. Making her pro debut in 2012, Fox immediately sparked a date within the community after rattling off three straight wins by way of finish. Following her first loss to Ashlee Evans-Smith, the debate largely quieted down with Fox only competing two more times before retiring from the sport in 2014.

However, the debate among fighters and fans was reinvigorated when Alana McLaughlin, a former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces and trans woman, made her MMA debut under the Combate Global banner in 2021. She earned a second-round submission against Celine Provost but has yet to book a second appearance after McLaughlin and the promotion faced severe backlash from the combat sports community.

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields attacked McLaughlin on multiple occasions in the wake of the controversy, speaking out against her, members of the trans community, and their allies on a fairly regular basis via social media.

Do you agree with Joe Rogan’s assessment of trans fighters potentially competing in the UFC?
