Long-time UFC commentator Joe Rogan has praised Jon Anik for a perfectly-timed call at UFC 278. The podcast host has called his fair share of fights during his career but one sticks out from the rest and it belongs to his pay-per-view partner.

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the 55-year-old said Anik’s performance during the Kamaru Usman-Leon Edwards title fight at UFC 278 solidified him as the best UFC commentator in company history.

Right before Edwards landed a fight-ending leg kick, Anik acknowledged his unwavering mentality.

Right when it was about to happen, Jon Anik actually set it up,” Rogan said. “There was a quote that he said right before Leon knocked him out… Jon Anik’s the best of all time. He’s the best. ‘That is not the cloth from which he was cut.’ Bam, and then the knockout. It’s the perfect call. It’s the best call ever… Bro, that’s Shakespeare.”

Jon Anik is the f*cking man… It’s the greatest call of all time. It doesn’t get any better. Every now and then, the words and the moment line up, and you’re like, that’s the perfect call,” Rogan said. (h/t mmanews.com)

Jon Anik Became Synonymous With UFC commentary in 2017

Jon Anik became the UFC’s lead commentator after the departure of Mike Goldberg. The Boston native relies on a large-amount of research to prepare for each event. He writes key notes on each fighter, including information on their coaches, training partners and life outside of fighting.

“I have 30 fighters to prepare for,” Anik said. “And once I get to fight week, there are a lot of different demands on my time and things that will come up randomly, whether it’s media requests or otherwise. Sometimes I’ll lose big chunks of the day so I start my process 10 days out.” (h/t Bloody Elbow)

Along with being a commentator, Anik is also a co-host for the “Anik and Florian Podcast”. He also completes media obligations ahead of each event. Anik has a hectic schedule but maximizes his effort into calling some of the best fights in UFC history.

Joe Rogan questions Conor McGregor amid speculation of PED use: ‘His piss would melt the USADA cup’

UFC color commentator has speculated that given the recent physique change of former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor, that should he submit a urine test sample to anti-doping agency, USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency), he would likely melt the administer’s testing cup.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the UFC banner, has been sidelined since July of last year, headlining UFC 264.

Matching with former interim lightweight titleholder, Dustin Poirier in a trilogy rubber match, McGregor suffered a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss to the Louisana native, fracturing his left tibia and fibula in the opening frame.

In the time since, however, the Crumlin native has yet to be subject to testing by USADA, with his most recent test sample administered back in the third quarter of last year.

Recently, former UFC light heavyweight title chaser, Anthony Smith has questioned if McGregor has been utilizing performance-enhancing drugs during his time away from the Octagon, in order to recovery from his leg injury – given his mass increase during his period on the sidelines.

Joe Rogan shares his thoughts on Conor McGregor’s speculated use of PEDs

Interviewing YouTuber, More Plates More Dates on his podcast recently, UFC commentator, Rogan claimed if McGregor submitted a urine test sample to USADA, he would likely melt through their cup.

“He’s taking his shirt off and posing constantly and he looks like his piss would melt that USADA cup,” Joe Rogan said of Conor McGregor on The Joe Rogan Experience. “Like it would just burn a hole right through the bottom of that USADA cup.”

According to the aforenoted, More Plates More Dates host, Derek, he doubts McGregor passes the “eye test” in many people’s judgements.

“I did a whole deep dive video on what I think he (Conor McGregor) could be doing,” Derek said. “And I think for any individual that doesn’t pass the eye test, he’d definitely be one of those individuals. But I wouldn’t boil it down to that, he could be a hyper-outlier individual for sure. And I would never want to make a definitive statement. I think it’s highly probable that he’s done certain things for sure.” (Transcribed by MMA Mania)

Joe Rogan shares his views of the Liver King steroid usage: “I wasn’t surprised at all.”

Joe Rogan has reacted to the recent news that The Liver King had lied about his use of steroids in order to improve his physique.

Speaking on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC commentator brought along Derek from More Plates More Dates (MPMD) who is an expert in understanding the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

At 45 years old The Liver King had a physique that only very few determined individuals could achieve. From the moment he burst through on the internet scene speculation surrounded just how legitimate and natural his body was.

Despite his original claims of being an authentic athlete, his false claims came to light when an email transcript was linked showing him openly admitting to the use of steroids.

Since this had become unveiled, The Liver King took to his social media to apologise to his following for hiding the truth.

From his initial outburst, Joe Rogan had always believed that Liver King was lying about his physique being achieved naturally given his age and how difficult it would be to reach where he was.

Now that the truth has come out, Joe Rogan sat down with Derek from MPMD to share his thoughts on The Liver King saga.

Joe Rogan Unsurprised By Liver King Steroid Usage

“I wasn’t surprised at all. It completely makes sense but that’s exactly what I expected. There’s no way you can look like that, in your 40s, that jacked, I mean he’s preposterously jacked.” Rogan said.

“Most people could see through it but at the same time, a lot of big names reached out to me when the video came out and they were like, ‘I didn’t think he was natural but this guy literally right to my face would say blatantly I am natural.’ He was lying through his teeth seemingly.”

“The problem with this too is that a lot of people will extrapolate this out and then think everyone with a jacked physique must be doing something, which is problematic… I do believe that physique, maybe not that physique but within striking distance of that in 0.00001% of individuals. You could get there naturally.” Derek responded. (Transcribed by FitnessVolt)

One man who likes to joke about his own type of enhancement is Paulo Costa. Proud owner of the ‘secret juice’, the Brazilian and The Liver King had an exchange prior to the announcement declaring a competition against each other for who has the better physique. Whilst we know Costa’s juice is a gimmick with which he plays along with, it seems that for The Liver King, we cannot say the same.

Did you ever believe that The Liver King has achieved his physique naturally?

Alex Pereira

UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan has certainly hyped up newly minted undisputed middleweight champion, Alex Pereira – making the case that the Brazilian may have surpassed former two-weight UFC champion and Olympic gold medalist, Henry Cejudo in many’s eyes, as the best combat sports athlete ever.

Pereira, who headlined UFC 281 earlier this month at Madison Square Garden against two-time GLORY Kickboxing rival, Israel Adesanya – clinched the undisputed middleweight crown with a stunning fifth round standing TKO victory.

Rallying after dropping three of the opening four rounds against Nigerian-Kiwi striker, Adesanya, Alex Pereira managed to stun the City Kickboxing mainstay at the fence in the final frame, dropping the champion with a left hook before scoring a standing technical knockout win to win the undisputed middleweight crown.

Arriving in mixed martial arts back in 2015, Alex Pereira has so far established a 7-1 professional record, transitioning to the sport following a decorated kickboxing career, which saw him mint himself as the undisputed middleweight and light heavyweight champion under the GLORY Kickboxing banner.

Joe Rogan heaps praise on Brazilian finisher, Alex Pereira

Comparing the resumes of both Pereira, and former flyweight and bantamweight UFC champion, Cejudo during a recent podcast appearance with Sean O’Malley on The Joe Rogan Experience, long-time promotional color-commentator, Rogan questioned if Pereira now laid claim to the status of greatest combat sports athlete ever.

“Yeah, he (Henry Cejudo) won the gold medal in the Olympics,” Joe Rogan said. “However, (Alex) Pereira, when he was fighting in GLORY (Kickboxing) – he’s fighting elite professionals, you know where, Henry is wrestling amateurs.”

Expected to make his first attempted defense of the middleweight title in an immediate title rematch with Adesanya last year, Pereira has scored other stunning knockout wins over Sean Strickland, and Andreas Michailidis during his Octagon tenure – sandwiched between a decision win against compatriot, Bruno Silva.
