Joe Rogan blown away by Ilia Topuria’s superb pad work: ‘F*cking phenomenal'

Ahead of his title fight return at UFC 308 at the end of the October, unbeaten featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria has received massive praise from veteran promotional color-commentator, Joe Rogan — who heaped praise on his striking and hand speed.

Topuria, the undisputed featherweight champion, who is currently in the midst of a stunning 15-fight unbeaten professional run, most recently crowned himself as the gold holder back in February in the main event of UFC 299, stopping Australian kingpin, Alexander Volkanovski with a stunning second round KO win.

And now booked to take on symbolic BMF champion, Max Holloway in Abu Dhabi at UFC 308 in two months’ time, Topuria received massive praise for his striking work in some new training footage, by promotional caller, Rogan.

“Ilia Topuria is one of the absolute best fighters in the world,” Joe Rogan said on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. “The dude is just f*cking phenomenal. One of the things that is phenomenal about him is his technique. Watch him hit the punches. See how he’s moving his head when guy throws punches? Slipping just slightly.”

“The speed, man, the f*cking speed of that,” Joe Rogan explained. “Look at the hand speed. F*cking incredible. If you know how difficulty that is to do and do it that fast. I mean, these are like five, six punches a second and just phenomenal technique.”

Previewing his matchup with Hawaiian striker, Holloway later this year at UFC 308, Topuria claimed the matchup with the former featherweight gold holder was more than easy.

“If he’s (Max Holloway) going to bring the same energy he brings in the last 10 seconds of every round, when he doest his (point to ground), I’m going to knock him out in the first round,” Ilia Topuria told MMA Junkie. “Because in the moment he’s going to stop in the middle and start to exchange and punches with me. I recommend him to use a helmet, because he’s going to need.”

If he does it, even better for me,” Ilia Topuria explained. “Maybe I’m going to point to the ground. Maybe I will do all that because I’m going to feel so comfortable in that fight because I’m telling you, ever time I see him fight I’m like, ‘Everyone is going to be surprised when I knock him out,’ because I see him as luke such an easy matchup for me. If he thinks that I’m not right, prove me wrong. We’re going to be in the same Octagon, October 26. prove me wrong.”

Joe Rogan Expresses Concern Over Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: “He’s Still a Different Kind of Human Being”

Iron’ Mike Tyson may be 58 years old, but he can still knock your head into “another dimension.

On Friday, November 15, the former unified heavyweight world champion will return to the ring for his first professional boxing bout in nearly 20 years against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Mike Tyson

News of their fight was met with immediate criticism, much of it focused on the fact that Tyson is 31 years older than Paul. Adding to the concerns was Tyson’s withdrawal from their originally scheduled July 20 date after he suffered a medical emergency during a cross-country flight in May.

Publicly, the incident was blamed on an ulcer flare-up. Still, the reports only heightened people’s anxiety over seeing Tyson return to the ring.

Mike Tyson

Recently longtime UFC color commentator Joe Rogan shared his conflicted opinion on Tyson’s clash with Paul during an episode of his popular JRE podcast alongside Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe.

“58 is 58, no matter what you’re taking and what they’re doing for you,” Rogan said. “You’re still 58. But 58-year-old Mike Tyson is not 50-year-old Mike Jones that lives down the street, it’s a different kind of human being. He can still knock your head into another dimension if he can catch you.

“The thing is, can he catch a 28-year-old guy who’s at the top of his career who is winning legitimate boxing matches? I mean, he’s beating former UFC world champions like Tyron Woodley. Jake had that very good fight with Tommy Fury who’s a legitimate boxer, that was a very good fight. And he just beat up Mike Perry who was a bare knuckle champion.

“He’s a real fighter, he can fight and if Mike Tyson and him are fighting and Mike can’t catch him? Then it’s hard to tell” (h/t MMA Mania).

Rogan’s definition of “legitimate boxing matches” aside, the part-time stand-up comic makes a solid point. Even at almost 60, Tyson has the power to put out anyone’s lights with one clean shot. The question is, will he have the cardio to catch Paul?

“When Mike is hitting pads he looks great, but it’s hard to tell when someone is hitting pads,” Rogan added. “If he can do that for eight rounds, great. But can he do that? I don’t know, he had to pull out of the first fight because he had an ulcer.”

Russell Crowe Comments on Mike Tyson’s return

Gladiator and Cinderella Man star Russell Crowe offered his take on Tyson’s comeback fight, questioning why the legendary pugilist would even choose to slide back into his ‘Iron’ persona after leaving it behind for so long.

“I was quite enjoying the second phase of Mike’s life,” Crowe said. “I was terrified of him as a boxer. He was terrifying. Even when I met him backstage at a stadium one time at a fight, I was like ‘I’m still terrified of you.’ Then that guy he started becoming where he became more exploratory and he was looking into what the meaning of life is and having a smoke every now and then? I was like, I’m enjoying this Mike, I’m liking the evolution.

“What bothers me with this whole thing is that he’s got to kind of slide back into that warrior and I’m just not sure that he needed to do it.”

Mike Tyson’s last professional boxing match was on June 11, 2005, against Kevin McBride. Shortly after, he closed out his iconic career going 50-6 with 44 of his wins coming by way of knockout.

Comedy Scandal: Joe Rogan Allegedly Stealing Material from Brendan Schaub

In an ironic twist, Joe Rogan has been accused of stealing jokes nearly two decades after single-handedly destroying Carlos Mencia’s career for doing the same thing.

Rogan recently returned to the stage for the Netflix comedy special ‘Burn The Boats’ which was met with mixed reviews, generating a 54% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Less than two weeks removed from its release date, Rogan is being accused of recycling jokes and stealing material from other comics.

Joe Rogan

While the former is nothing new as comedians often reuse and modify old material, the latter is a serious accusation in the stand-up comic community.

YouTube channel The Elephant Grave posted an extensive 36-minute breakdown of Rogan’s latest Netflix offering loaded with criticism, the biggest being that Rogan stole material from fellow comic and JRE podcast regular Brendan Schaub.

Rogan famously helped guide Schaub’s early days in the stand-up game after the former UFC heavyweight fighter laid down his gloves in 2015. Given their relationship, it’s all too likely that Rogan has seen some of Schaub’s stand-up work and may have found himself inspired by some of it.

Of course, the type of jokes told by Rogan and Schaub in the above clip are hardly original, so make of that what you will.

Brendan Schaub

Thus far, neither Joe Rogan nor Brendan Schaub have commented on the accusation.

Critics Shred Joe Rogan’s ‘Burn The Boats’ Special

Joe Rogan’s return to Netflix was largely slammed by critics, earning a big fat 0% on RT and and middling 4.9 out of 10 on IMDB.

“Unapologetically, Joe Rogan stepped onto a stage to vent about what he’s dreamed about saying to a large live audience since COVID became a mainstay in the current state,” Matthew Creith of The Wrap wrote. “The San Antonio audience ate up everything the comic howled about for over 60 minutes, though Netflix audiences might feel different. If you know Rogan, you know exactly what you’re getting with this special … even if the special’s title might need to be clarified for those not familiar with the idiom it offers.”

Daniel D’Addario of Variety appeared to agree with Creith’s assessment, accusing Rogan of offering up diatribes “decades too late” and attempting to garner attention with a controversial subject matter rather than providing any sort of unique take.

“Much of Rogan’s comedy, here, was simplistic to the point of sketched out,” D’Addario said. “Rogan spoke mockingly of at least some trans people as ‘crazy people,’ saying that, while some transness is legitimate, untold others were like the villain of The Silence of the Lambs; this is not only prejudiced, this is amateur stuff. A later bit about feeling intimidated around gay men because of Rogan’s understanding of men’s primal nature felt similar: Outdated. Tired. It ultimately came as a relief, even for the viewer who disagreed, when COVID came up in Rogan’s litany, if only because it was a topic that hadn’t already been chewed up by the culture like so many pieces of offal on Fear Factor.”

Joe Rogan

Jacques Berlinerblau of MSNBC added that Rogan’s latest special was light on comedy and heavy on complaints.

“I’m going to preface this with — I love stand-up comedy and I don’t mind Joe Rogan. I enjoy his podcast. BUT — Someone close to Joe — please be honest and tell him this last special wasn’t great. This was a bizarre 21st-century Sam Kinison impression.”

Joe Rogan was once a piece of counterculture, but now, at least according to Craig Jones, Rogan is now the man.

Joe Rogan

The popular talk show host Rogan hosts the biggest podcast in history with millions of monthly listeners. He began his career as an actor and a comedian. The UFC has worked closely alongside Rogan who has been one of their broadcast professionals for decades, even while MMA was outlawed.

Craig Jones

The Australia-born Jones is one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grapplers currently active. He has twice earned silver in ADCC, the premier organization in submission grappling. But recently, he started his own event with tons of impressive talent competing.

Craig Jones Invitational

The CJI and ADCC 2024 will both be hosted on the same weekend and both in Las Vegas. For the CJI, there are a million dollars in prizes to be won. But, Joe Rogan is not happy with this setup. Rogan, who sponsors the ADCC, wasn’t too happy about the clash and mentioned his frustration on the podcast.

Craig Jones

The Australian Jones recently talked about his experience on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, where he faced some pushback from Rogan himself. Jones was there to promote his new grappling tournament which he started to boost athlete pay in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Jones, however, thinks the conflict is necessary to push for better pay for athletes. He pointed out that Rogan, who built his career challenging the system, might not see why shaking things up is important. He is looking to set a new standard for athlete compensation.

In an interview with TheMacLife, Jones explained:

“That’s the thing with Rogan, right? If you build a career fighting the man, ultimately if you become successful enough you kind of become the man… He didn’t really grasp why we had to do it this way and cause a conflict. There has to be a conflict.”

Talk show host Joe Rogan will not be supporting Donald Trump for President. The Republican party will need to go without the support of the comedian and podcast personality. MAGA and Donald Trump supporters are not happy with Rogan’s pick.

Joe Rogan Not Supporting Donald Trump

New York’s Donald Trump, the luxury hotel magnate, has been a long-time supporter of the UFC and is a close personal friend of UFC leader Dana White. White has spoken at multiple RNC rallies showing his unwavering support for Trump. Rogan has been working alongside the UFC for decades as one of the key voices of the organization.

Joe Rogan instead threw his support behind third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who will be running for President as an independent in November. On his talk show earlier this week, Rogan said:

“He’s the only one that makes sense to me. He doesn’t attack people, he attacks actions and ideas, but he’s much more reasonable and intelligent. I mean, the guy was an environmental lawyer and he cleaned up the East River. He’s a legitimate guy.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. thanked Joe Rogan on social media and said:

From one “legitimate” guy to another, thank you [Joe Rogan] for always putting substance first.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has some ideas. He claimed that Covid-19 was “ethnically targeted” to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people. Also, RFK Jr. suggested that antidepressants are responsible for school shootings.

Many fans and followers of Joe Rogan are pissed off by the host’s pick for President, as they feel betrayed.
