Johnny Walker had no shortage of confidence coming off his 15-second victory over Justin Ledet at UFC Fortaleza last weekend.

After his victory, Walker called out longtime UFC light heavyweight veteran Jimi Manuwa to a fight. Walker hoped for a quick turnaround to face Manuwa on the UFC London card form the O2 Arena on March 16th. The fight certainly makes sense, as Manuwa – currently on a three-fight losing streak – gets the opportunity to fight in front of his native English crowd.

Walker would also get to test himself against a proven top contender at 205 pounds. However, Manuwa doesn’t seem to be too interested in that fight. He noted that he’s currently injured, otherwise he’d already be on the UFC London card. Manuwa also said he doesn’t need Walker to make a fight:

“Everyone knows I’m injured or I’d be fighting in London in March. I defo don’t need no Johnny Walker to make a fight.”

Walker’s 15-second victory in Brazil propelled him into the top 15 at light heavyweight. With a big win over a fighter the caliber of Manuwa, that could be the Brazilian’s ticket to some high-level contests at light heavyweight.

The division is certainly wide open for young competitors at the moment. Perhaps Walker is on the fast track to a UFC championship opportunity.

Rising UFC Light Heavyweight Apparently Endorses Growth Hormone Online

Rising UFC light heavyweight prospect apparently endorses a banned growth hormone by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

It looks like a rising UFC light heavyweight prospect made a big mistake earlier this year.

When looking back at 205-pound competitor Johnny Walker’s Instagram account, a post was made back in April endorsing a performance-enhancing drug known as Mk-677 (ibutamoren). Mk-677 is one of the banned substances by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), who handles the drug testing of UFC fighters. Check out a screenshot of the post here:

Recently, Walker picked up a knockout win over Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC Argentina, which also earned him a Performance Of The Night bonus. Under the WADA prohibited list, Ibutamoren is banned as a non-specified substance. It’s listed under Section 2 Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances, and Mimetics.

The default sanction of a two-year suspension is given to a fighter who tests positive for the substance under the UFC’s anti-doping program. The use of ibutamoren has been linked to muscle growth and increased recovery, however, the experimental drug is not approved by the FDA at this time.

Walker could find himself in trouble with USADA if the anti-doping agency decides to look into the light heavyweight’s affiliation with the growth hormone after his Instagram post has come back to haunt him.
