Conor McGregor was impressed by the UFC debut of his fellow Irishman.

Ian Garry met Jordan Williams on the prelims of UFC 268. The former Cage Warriors champion got off to a somewhat slow start, eating a number of shots from Williams early on. However, in the dying seconds of the first round, Garry was able to find his timing, avoid a punch, and fire back one of his own. The shot landed cleanly on Williams chin, and a few punches that landed afterwards appeared to be academic.

McGregor was quick to jump on Twitter and congratulate his countryman on a successful UFC debut.

McGregor immediately took to social media afterwards to congratulate Garry on his performance. Garry trains alongside ‘The Notorious’ at SBG Ireland. He hasn’t been shy about saying that he looks up to McGregor and models his game after him. Needless to say, McGregor was proud of his pupil.

“You little f—in daisy Ian!” McGregor wrote. “The step back, back paw an all ahahahaha just absolutely incredible!”

‘Notorious’ later added three voice notes to his Twitter timeline and it’s clear he was hyped up following Garry’s performance.

Garry was somewhat critical of his own performance afterwards, saying that it was the first time he had ever felt nerves inside the cage. Still, he managed to come up big when it mattered the most, and it’s a performance that is sure to put him on fight fans radar.

The 23-year-old came into the organization with a lot of hype behind him, and he has managed to live up the billing so far. It will be interesting to see how he performs as he moves up the UFC ladder.

What did you think of Ian Garry’s performance? Were you as impressed as Conor McGregor?

The undefeated former Welterweight Cage Warriors champion Ian Garry will make his debut in MSG at UFC 268.

”The Future’ will square off against Jordan Williams (9-5), who lost his last fight to Mickey Gall by rear naked choke. The bout will take place in the Welterweight division. Garry is a highly touted prospect who was undefeated in his 7 bouts at Cage Warriors. He finished 5 of his 7 matches in the promotion. Garry mostly dominated anyone that would step in the octagon with him at Cage Warriors. The UFC announced the signing of the young prospect back in July.

The Cage Warriors promotion produced great talent over the years including Jack ‘Tank’ Shore, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor, and Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett just to name a few. Garry is only 23 years old and just turned to the pro circuit 2 years ago.

Madison Square Garden is a great way to start off a young career. ‘MSG’ is known as one of the greatest venue to perform in the world. Since MMA has been allowed in New York, it has held some of the best cards in recent history. It seems that Garry is excited to get his career in the UFC off and running at such a legendary venue.

Williams has lost 3 of his last 4 fights and is looking to derail the Garry hype train before it even gets a chance to get going down the rails.

UFC 268 will take place on November 6 and is already looking like the best upcoming card among many great events coming up. The event is headlining 2 highly anticipated rematches between Usman vs Covington 2 and Weili vs Namajunas rematch. The event also sees Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje go head to head with many other fantastic fights.

Who do you think will win at UFC 268? Ian Garry or Jordan Williams?

Grappling standout, Mickey Gall has turned in his fifth successful submission victory under the UFC’s banner — stopping prospect, Jordan Williams with an expertly applied rear-naked choke in the opening round of their UFC Vegas 32 preliminary clash.

Gall, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under David Adiv improves to 7-3 professionally with his first round stoppage win over Williams, following a unanimous decision defeat to Mike Perry at UFC Vegas 4 in June of last year.

The 29-year-old New Jersey native managed to grab Williams’ attention early with a stinging and stumbling right-hand shot, before attempting to wrap up a high-elbow guillotine attempt early.

Taking Williams’ back during a seated scramble later in the round, Gall patiently hand fought before eventually finding his way under the latter’s neck and prying him back to the canvas forcing the stoppage from referee, Herb Dean.

The stoppage win comes as Gall’s fifth submission success in the UFC following prior rear-naked choke triumphs against Mike Jackson, CM Punk, Sage Northcutt, and George Sullivan.
