Jorge Masvidal and Michael Bisping used to hate each other and if they were at the same event, something very well would happen.

Yet, before Masvidal fought Darren Till, the two were able to squash their beef and have been civil since then. At UFC Uruguay where the two were at, they stopped for a picture and both posted it on Instagram showing support of one another.

Soda only these days with @gamebredfighter

“Soda only these days with @gamebredfighter,” Bisping wrote.

“Didn’t have to be cool in England during my fight week but was respectful to me. Thanks for being a standup guy @mikebisping,” Masvidal wrote.

They two have known to have incidents in the past and after Bisping was knocked out by Kelvin Gastelum the two got into it in China. Here is how Masvidal rememebers it.

“We had another incident actually in China, which not too many people know about. So we were in China and [Bisping] got knocked out by [Kelvin] Gastelum, and I’m not going to f**k with nobody who just got knocked out, especially the way he did. It was like the Holy Ghost left his body, you know?”

“So I see him coming through the lobby, I was with numerous fans taking pictures and so I [turn] my back [to him]. I’m like ‘I don’t even want to see this dude right now’ but I’m not going to just run away either, and leave the fans hanging. I just got back to my hotel and people are forming a line, I’m going to give them the pictures that they want. So I got my back to him and I see him out of the corner of my eye, and I’m trying to like turn away so he doesn’t see my face. Just like a side-profile or something. But he comes right up to my face, sticks his middle finger in my face and starts going ‘fuck you, fuck you, piece of shit, you low-life, you ain’t shit man.’

“[He] starts to walk away, and I immediately lost my shit and I went after him and [UFC VP of Athlete Development] Reed Harris and company got in between us, and the UFC security. He did the whole show and stuff, talking shit while he’s backing up, getting into the elevator… I’m like why do all that when nothing comes out of it you know? You could have just sent me a message and told me hey lets meet at the workout room and talk about this, but he’s just not going to do that, you know?

“So I immediately send him a message, and I ended up posting it online because he’s such a punk, letting him know ‘man, stop disrespecting me every time you see me, just be man about it. Pick a place and lets go and lets fucking do it like men. Why are we talking? We both can fight to some degree—I don’t think he can fight for shit, but he claims to be a fighter—lets just go and scrap it out. That way we stop flirting with each other online.’”

Leon Edwards wants Jorge Masvidal to cut down on the trash talking and make a fight between the pair happen.

Edwards has been trying to make a fight with Masvidal come to fruition for a while now. He notably claimed that “Gamebred” turned down a recent fight offer. However, Masvidal and his manager denied getting a contract in the first place, with the former having recent a message for Edwards:

“He’s gotta look at this interview, or people are going to call him and tell him – you’re a f*cking nobody,” Masvidal said. “I run this show, you listen to me. When I say I’m going to kick your f*cking ass, I’ll kick your f*cking ass. I’m gonna get paid now, like I said, 16 years I’ve been chasing this dream of getting the belt. You think I’m going to let some f*cking bug like this guy even slightly throw me off my road, my destiny, towards my greatness towards the belt?

“I’m going to get the belt, and I’m going to eliminate him off the face of the earth. I’m going to wipe the floor with that guy. It’s going to happen, I swear to you it’s going to happen, it’s just not going to be on his terms.”

As it happened, Edwards saw the interview and retorted back:

“Shut the f*ck up your a p*ssy, you will do nothing your a journey man stop chatting sh*t n let’s make the fight #runjorgerun,” Edwards tweeted.

Do you think we’ll see these two collide next?

Ben Askren recently claimed that Jorge Masvidal should thank him for his increase in popularity. Askren was the recipient of the fastest knockout in UFC history when Masvidal connected with a flying knee at UFC 239 last month.

As a result, the popularity of “Gamebred” has skyrocketed with even talks of a fight with Conor McGregor. And Askren believes it’s all thanks to him.

“I will acknowledge that I made him this popular,” Askren said. “I brought the best in him. So it’s fine, it’s part of the game. We were the most anticipated fight by far on the biggest card of the year. And it definitely wasn’t because Jorge decided not to show up to two different press events. It was because I made it that way.

“Jorge can say I’m a dick, or whatever the hell he wants to say about me, but if he wasn’t so rude, he should probably say, ‘thank you for making me a lot of money.’”

Participating in a media scrum for UFC Uruguay, Masvidal finally responded with a thank you, but not in a way that Askren would have expected:

“I don’t know. See to thank him, I thank everybody that stepped in there to fight (against me) so he can get the general thank you,” Masvidal said (via BJ Penn). “But he didn’t do nothing for me. I did everything for that moment. That moment was, that was me doing that. That isn’t the first time I’ve knocked someone out with a flying knee and it won’t be the last either.

“So in a way, thanks to Ben’s chin for being in collision with my f*cking knee. So thank you to your f*cking chin Ben.”

There’s certainly no love lost between these two and it looks like remaining that way for a while.

Leon Edwards recently claimed that Jorge Masvidal turned down a fight with him. However, his manager, Ibrahim Kawa, shot down that notion, claiming a title shot was already negotiated to be Masvidal’s next bout.

Masvidal himself got the opportunity to respond to Edwards’ claims during a media scrum as a guest fighter at UFC Uruguay yesterday (Sat. August 10, 2019). “Gamebred” told MMA Fighting the UFC hasn’t sent him anything with mention of Edwards on it. He also vowed a fight with the Englishman will happen. But it’ll be on his own terms.

“The UFC hasn’t put a contract in front of my face with Leon’s anything,” Masvidal said. “Because they know we’re not about petty sh*t. I’m only looking up. I already – when they first offered me the fight in England, I said, ‘who’s the best guy that I can get my hands on over there?’

“They said [Darren] Till. I said, ‘Let’s do it.’ And what did I do? I got in a f*cking plane, I went over there and gave it all I had. A fight, I like to fight. Leon, then was sh*t, still is sh*t, in my opinion. I’m going to kick his ass. It’s not going to be on his terms or whenever the f*ck he wants it. It’ll always be on mine, and that’s what bothers him so much inside.

“He’s gotta look at this interview, or people are going to call him and tell him – you’re a f*cking nobody. I run this show, you listen to me.

Edwards, while not a majorly popular name in the welterweight division, is still one of the best at the weight class. He is currently on an impressive eight-fight win streak over notable names such as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Gunnar Nelson, and Rafael dos Anjos. However, Masvidal is glad many consider Edwards to be a skilled fighter. It’ll make the victory that much sweeter for the Floridian.

“I’m so happy,” Masvidal said. “I’m so happy that he’s winning, and I’m so happy that maybe somebody might think that he’s a fight worthy – because everybody was saying Ben [Askren] was an amazing fighter before I fought him and all this grappling stuff. But after I five-seconded his ass, they’re saying he was overrated.

“I want them to say the same thing. I’m going to beat Leon so bad they’re going to say the same sh*t about him. They’re going to say he’s overrated. There’s not one bone in my body, there’s not nothing in my body that is not agreeing with what I’m saying, I’m going to murder that guy when we fight. He’s a scrub – you are a scrub Leon and you f*cking know it.

“And the fight will take place when the f*ck I say so. So sit there and eat that f*cking words. Ugh, I’m gonna break that guy’s face, man. Interviews are over, man. You guys got me all f*cking hyped up for nothing, man.”

Masvidal comes off back-to-back knockout victories over some of the welterweight division’s elite. It started with Darren Till earlier this year, who Masvidal knocked unconscious in the second round of their UFC London showdown. He followed that up with a record-breaking finish at UFC 239 that shook the mixed martial arts (MMA) community.

The undefeated Ben Askren was handed the first loss of his career when Masvidal nailed him with a flying knee right out the gate. Askren shot in on an immediate takedown, and Masvidal was ready for it, brilliantly countering with a knee that put “Funky” out cold in five seconds.

It marked the fastest knockout in UFC history. Now, Masvidal is holding out for a title shot, or a big-money fight. It remains to be seen who the UFC matches him up with next.

What do you make of Masvidal’s response to Edwards? Do you want to see them fight?
