Julija Stoliarenko submits Molly McCann with nasty first round armbar at UFC London

Lithuanian grappler, Julija Stoliarenko has silenced the crowd at The O2 Arena in London, submitting flyweight veteran, Molly McCann with an opening round armbar in the co-main event of tonight’s UFC Fight Night London card.

Stoliarenko, who boasts a dismal 1-4 promotional record during her tenure under the Dana White-led banner, had landed just a single win over Jessica-Rose Clark back in July of last year in her sole victory since her transition to the Octagon.

And making a flyweight divisional bow against Cage Warriors veteran, McCann tonight in the English capital, the 30-year-old silenced the partisan crowd inside the opening round of their co-headlining bout, submitting the Liverpool native with a dominant opening round armbar.

Shooting on McCann following a brief striking battle, Stoliarenko managed to successfully take the Next Generation MMA & BJJ to the ground in the opening couple minutes of their co-main event clash, before scrambling and locking up a nasty armbar win after briefly attempting a rear-naked choke.

Landing her first promotional victory, Lithuanian bantamweight, Julija Stoliarenko manages to kick start UFC 276 with a brutal 42-second armbar win over popular Australian opponent, Jessica-Rose Clark — appearing to dislocate her challenger’s arm with the brutal submission attempt.

Receiving quite the pop to kick off tonight’s T-Mobile Arena card, Clark made her Octagon walk to the music of former WWE SuperStar, Shawn Michaels, leading to a wayward introduction and breakdown of her fight by UFC color commentator, Daniel Cormier.

Engaging in a firefight with Stoliarenko in the opening exchange, Clark wobbled the bantamweight, however, was forced to the canvas off the back of a power double leg takedown.

Quickly shifting her hips and moving to side control, Stoliarenko isolated Clark’s left arm, and hopped opposite sides, forcing the tap off the back of a slick 42-second armbar win — landing her first victory under the banner of the UFC.

UFC bantamweight contender, Julia Avila scores her third Octagon victory via an emotional rear-naked choke triumph against Julija Storliarenko in a rescheduled bout on the preliminary portion of this evening’s UFC Vegas 30 card.

Matching with Lithuanian grappler, Stoliarenko in a rescheduled bout following the cancellation of their UFC Vegas 22 bout in March after the former collasped at the weigh-ins prior to fight night, Avila managed to bloody Stoliarenko early with what appears to have been a front kick which may have caused a broken nose.

Julija Stoliarenko was the star of a worrying scene at the UFC Vegas 22 weigh-ins.

For anyone that missed it, Stoliarenko successfully weighed in for her bantamweight fight with Julia Avila. However, despite making her contracted weight Stoliarenko looked unsteady on the scale before collapsing to the floor. The bout has of course been removed from the UFC Vegas 22 card.

Stoliarenko took to social media soon after the incident to assure fans that she is OK and address exactly what caused her to collapse on the scale.

“Hello everyone, so I want to explain what happened today on the scales at the weigh-ins,” Stoliarenko began. “The problem was not my weight cut. I actually want to say it was actually one of the easiest weight cuts in my career, and the weight was dropping too fast. The main issue I think was that I made weight too early. Basically, the weigh-ins start at 9 a.m. and I was already on weight at 5 a.m. It was just too long of a time on weight. As everybody knows when you cut weight you can not be on this weight for too long because you’re already at the limit of your dehydration. That was an issue why it all happened.

“I’m so upset because right now I’m feeling great,” Stoliarenko added. “I actually feel ready for a fight. My body feels great. I’m still in good shape. I know that I can fight. It just happened that the athletic commission did not clear me for a fight because we are taking care of the fighters. Of course, that situation looked terrible. The UFC also takes care of its fighters. I just want to say sorry for the UFC first of all and the sorriest for Julia Avila. I hope that maybe in the future we can meet up. Gosh, I was so ready for that fight. I was in such good shape and I’m so upset that I can not show people that I prepared for this fight.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)
