The UFC welterweight division, which is currently led by champion Kamaru Usman, is very complicated at the moment. Especially with the recent addition of former two-division world champion Conor McGregor.

McGregor comes off a big first-round TKO win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in Las Vegas. The Irishman has voiced his desires for a future shot at the 170-pound title, currently held by Usman, to which “The Nigerian Nightmare” has suggested he’s open to the bout should it present itself. However, there’s also the possibility McGregor fights Masvidal next, the man who put on a Fighter Of The Year run in 2019 with three spectacular TKO/KO finishes.

Of course, with McGregor, nothing is ever certain. The Irishman could very well sit out until the next lightweight championship fight is made, which would be well after April. If that were the case, Usman and Masvidal would likely end up fighting each other. However, earlier today, Masvidal’s manager, Ibrahim Kawa, took to Twitter to suggest Usman is dealing with an injury and is out “indefinitely.”

Usman took to his official Twitter account to deny these rumors, before proceeding to blast Masvidal, who he called a “journeyman” that is doing everything he can to avoid taking a loss to him.

“Who’s out indefinitely??”

“For all you real fans out there that know what’s up @GamebredFighter is doing everything possible to avoid taking this L @danawhite has spoken so STFU and take this ass whooping like the journeyman you are and then you can go fight Conor #OnceaBumalwaysaBum

Usman comes off his first-ever title defense in December, in which he successfully retained his welterweight crown against Colby Covington. “The Nigerian Nightmare” broke Covington’s jaw mid-way through the fight before finishing the fight in the fifth round with a TKO. Usman remains undefeated in the UFC, and stands to make a lot of money in his next title defense should it be against either Masvidal or McGregor. Of course, we’ll likely have to wait a few weeks to see how everything plays out first.

Jorge Masvidal is targeting a fight with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Masvidal was in attendance at UFC 246 on Saturday night to watch Conor McGregor defeat Donald Cerrone. “Gamebred” was hoping that McGregor would call him out after the fight only for that to never happen.

Although the Irishman did express an interest in fighting Masvidal afterwards in interviews with the media, Masvidal believes McGregor is not really interested. And so, he is turning his attention to Usman now.

“I guess it’s [Kamaru] Usman’s head,” Masvidal said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday. “He’s [McGregor] sealed Usman’s fate now.”

Masvidal has repeatedly stated that if the paycheck was the same for both McGregor and Usman, he would prefer to face the latter.

Why? He just simply doesn’t like “The Nigerian Nightmare”:

“I would take a lot more pleasure in dismantling Usman’s face than I would Conor’s,” he explained. “I would have a sincere joy inside of me like a kid at Christmas opening numerous gifts if Usman was the dude that I got to baptize. There’s something about his face that, I don’t like it, it doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t like his attitude as well either. Who? I’ve been doing this 16 f*cking years. I’m the fighter of the year and I’m at your f*cking weight class.

“The dude ain’t got no personality. … I’m going to f*ck his a* up. If he doesn’t want it, he doesn’t want it. I’m going to make this abundantly clear in every f*cking interview that I get asked about this coward — he wants to fight the guy [Leon Edwards] ranked below. … That he already beat. I got a bunch of dudes that don’t want to fight me.”

It seems even a fight with Usman would have to wait as the champion is reportedly injured. But once he’s ready to fight, it appears that he has his next opponent lined up.

However, another big story was the hacking of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman’s Twitter account during the show. Whoever hacked Usman’s account took some profane shots at Conor McGregor and his family. More specifically, the mother of his children. During a media scrum at UFC 246, Usman was asked about having his account hacked, and said it’s sad that someone would do such a thing. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“It’s kind of sad that we live in a world where people actually do stuff like that,” Usman said. “It is what it is. It’s part of life now.”

During his post-fight conference, McGregor said he was “skeptical” as to whether or not Usman’s account was truly hacked. However, Usman said that isn’t in his character, and it “obviously” wasn’t him.

“Obviously that wasn’t me,” Usman said. “Whoever’s Tweeting those things, I mean, come on man. Hopefully you got your 10 seconds of fame. It’s not me. That’s obviously not my character, and obviously people realize that.”
