Kamaru Usman Believes Logan and Jake Paul would handle Tristan and Andrew Tate in hypothetical MMA fight

Paul

Kamaru Usman believes Logan and Jake Paul would have a decided advantage in a potential MMA showdown with Tristan and Andrew Tate.

While the Paul brothers are best known for their work in the boxing ring, their background in wrestling would likely give them a leg up should the pair ever find themselves in a hypothetical clash with the Tate brothers who have primarily competed in kickboxing.

“If it’s an MMA fight, I think that favors Jake and Logan [Paul] for sure…I mean, they actually wrestled…That’s [kickboxing] actually a disadvantage when it comes to wrestlers,” Usman said during an appearance on the PBD Podcast. “If I catch a kick and you fall down, like, it’s different and it’s a different balance…The civilian human doesn’t realize that it’s an actual skill to be able to get off of your back”

Logan and Jake Paul Continue to Thrive while the Tate Brothers Await Trial in Romania

While it’s fun to theorize about, any variation that would pit a Paul brother against a Tate brother is highly unlikely to happen. Particularly while Tristan and Andrew Tate are currently awaiting trial in Romania on charges of rape, human trafficking, and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women. They have vehemently denied all charges.

The Tate brothers were detained in December 2022 and remained in custody until March 2023 when they were placed under house arrest. In June, Andrew Tate and his brother were formally charged.

According to a report from the BBC, the indictment deposited with the Bucharest court says that the Tate brothers along with two other defendants formed an organized criminal group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, but also in other countries including the U.S. and the UK.

Robert Whittaker targets UFC 300 fight with Paulo Costa axed he's playing games again

Former undisputed middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker may have verbally agreed to fight former title challenger, Paulo Costa at UFC 299 in March, however, the ex-titleholder will now target a UFC 300 return instead, with his manager claiming the Brazilian is still “playing games” on a bout with his client.

Whittaker, the current number three ranked middleweight contender, most recently featured on the main card of UFC 290 back in July during International Fight Week, dropping a stunning second round TKO loss to incoming UFC 297 headliner and title challenger, Dricus du Plessis.

Suffering his first loss at the middleweight limit to any contender other than former two-time foe and champion, Israel Adesanya, Whittaker has the subject of a call out from Brazilian ace, Costa, who claimed he was prepared to fight him in the opening quarter of next year.

And himself targeting a fight in March at UFC 299 – which is currently slated for a Miami, Florida landing pad, Whittaker tagged Costa in a post on his official social media – adding fuel to the fire of a once-planned pairing.

However, as far as the ex-champion’s manager, Titus Day is concerned, a UFC 300 return against former undisputed welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman is on the New Zealand-born fighter’s radar, who accused Costa of “playing games again” during a recent interview with Fox Sports Australia.

Himself talking up the possibility of fighting former pound-for-pound number one, Usman in the future, Whittaker urged the Auchi native to remain at the 185 pound limit amid a recent divisional bow against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294 back in October.

“Definitely, the (Kamaru) USman fight interests me because I just think we are both guys that are at the tip of the food chain and I want to give him a proper welcome to the middleweight division,” Robert Whittaker told Submission Radio. “I just like that fight… he’s one of the best welterweights to do it and I think fighting fights of that calibre makes me excited. It’s a face I haven’t fought before, it’s exciting, it’s different.”

Robert Whittaker calls for March fight with Kamaru Usman in UFC return we're both top of the food chain

Former undisputed middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker has sights fixed firmly still on securing a fight with former welterweight titleholder and prior pound-for-pound number one, Kamaru Usman, as he eyes a comeback to the Octagon in March of next year.

Whittaker, a former undisputed middleweight champion, has been sidelined since he featured at UFC 290 back in July during International Fight Week, suffering a stunning second round TKO loss to incoming UFC 297 headliner and title challenger, Dricus du Plessis.

The defeat came as Whittaker’s first at the middleweight limit beyond a pair of losses to two-time foe, Israel Adesanya, since arriving at 185 pounds back in 2014.

As for Usman, the former undisputed welterweight champion made a middleweight divisional bow on just 10 days’ notice last month in the co-main event of UFC 294, suffering a contentious majority decision loss to the unbeaten, Khamzat Chimaev over the course of three rounds.

Robert Whittaker echoes calls for Kamaru Usman fight in UFC return

And playing up a potential middleweight limit stay off the back of a heralded performance on such short-notice in the Middle East, Usman has been called out continually by ex-champion, Whittaker – who himself eyes a UFC return as soon as March.

“Definitely, the (Kamaru) USman fight interests me because I just think we are both guys that are at the tip of the food chain and I want to give him a proper welcome to the middleweight division,” Robert Whittaker told Submission Radio. “I just like that fight… he’s one of the best welterweights to do it and I think fighting fights of that caliber makes me excited. Daniel Cormier Calls For ‘Championship-Level’ clash between Kamaru Usman and Robert Whittaker: ‘It’s a big fight’

Kamaru Usman

Kamaru Usman has failed to see his hand raised in three straight outings, but UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier believes he knows just the fight that could turn things around for the former welterweight world champion.

During a recent episode of his ESPN show DC&RC, Cormier was asked about a potential matchup between the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ and former middleweight titleholder Robert Whittaker. The Reaper’ had recently expressed hope that Usman would stick around at 185 after coming up short in his short-notice showdown with Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294.

Despite his recent skid, Cormier believes Kamaru Usman is still a marquee name in the sport of mixed martial arts, and as such, deserves to feature in big fights under the UFC banner.

I think it’s a big fight and I think both of these guys deserve to walk to the Octagon in massive fights every single time,” Cormier said. “So if they’re not fighting for the championship, they should be fighting championship-level fights. So I’m all in on Kamaru Usman vs. Robert Whittaker,” (h/t MMA Fighting).

Co-Host Ryan Clark Agrees with DC’s assessment of Usman vs. Whittaker

Cormier’s co-host, Ryan Clark, agreed with the former champ-champ’s assessment.

“I believe it gives Kamaru Usman an opportunity to have a training camp knowing he’ll be fighting at 185, and for Robert Whittaker, it doesn’t make him fight a retread, someone he’s fought already or have to go down in the rankings to fight a fighter that doesn’t have the cachet or résumé that deserves a trip in the Octagon with Robert Whittaker,” Clark said. “Kamaru Usman, you say, ‘I’m here. I’m a player at 185 for the twilight of my career.’”

Both men will be eager to get back into the win column upon booking their next fight. Usman has lost three in a row, including back-to-back losses against current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards. ‘The Reaper’ has dropped two of his last three, the most recent coming via a shocking second-round knockout loss against South African contender Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 290.

Jorge Masvidal claims he met Kamaru Usman in nightclub at 4 am before Khamzat Chimaev fight

Jorge Masvidal believes that if Kamaru Usman had a long er camp, he would have beat Khamzat Chimaev.

With a late withdrawal of Paulo Costa, Usman was called in to fight Khamzat Chimaev on 10 days’ notice at UFC 294, also up at middleweight. Usman would be taken down and controlled throughout the first but would make it a competitive affair in the second and third.

Ultimately losing by decision media scorecard would be all over the place – a testament to Usman’s performance. the former 170lb champion should be proud of his display, and considering the preparation time, he and many onlookers felt that with longer it could have gone the other way.

Jorge Masvidal shares amusing Kamaru Usman encounter

Usman’s former opponent, Masvidal, recently shared that he had met Usman just a day before the official announcement of his fight against Chimaev, but it was at 4am, in a nightclub.

“Funny story, right before he took that fight, hasn’t happened too often, but I saw Kamaru Usman out. It was the craziest stuff ever,” Masvidal said in a interview with MMA Mania. “I was walking into this establishment, I had my shades on and somebody goes, ‘Jorge Masvidal, what’s up?’ I go, ‘Man, that voice sounds **king familiar.’ I turned around, this is at 4:30 in the f—king morning, bro. It’s Usman’s ass and he’s got glasses too. What the **k?” (H/T MMA Mania)

Masvidal and Usman once had a bitter rivalry, but that seems to be behind the pair. ‘Gamebred’ would credit Usman for his performance, believing that

“I look, I must have lost my **king mind,” Masvidal said. “I lift them (my glasses) up and I go, ‘Usman?!’ and he goes, ‘What’s up, Masvidal?!’ This mother**ker, bro. That was literally the day before he got the announcement for the fight. So I just want to say if that guy has like five-six weeks to prepare for Chimaev, he takes him out. Guaranteed. He knocks his ass dead.”
