When you’re on a five-fight losing streak like former UFC light-heavyweight contender Keith Jardine, there’s two ways you can approach your situation. 1) You can take a few months off to completely re-assess your skills, weaknesses, and motivation. Or, 2) You can get back in the cage as soon as possible in a desperate attempt to wash off the stink of failure. The Dean of Mean, God help him, is going for option two.

Just two months after his demoralizing loss to Trevor Prangley at Shark Fights 13, Keith Jardine will take on Francisco "Kiko" France in the main event of "MMA Global Invasion," which will be held November 13 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. (Props to MMAFighting for the heads-up.) France is a 6-1 light-heavyweight who has claimed all of his victories by submission, including four by arm-triangle choke. He’s competed for various organizations in Missouri and Mississippi; most notably, he appeared on the undercard of Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery, where he finished Lee Brousseau by first-round rear-naked choke.

Several notable former UFC fighters will be competing on one particular weekend in November.

Jake Rosholt, once considered a can’t-miss prospect in WEC and then UFC, will face veteran Matt Horwich at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, OK. The bout will serve as the main event of the Nov. 12 Xtreme Fight Night card.

This will mark only the second fight for Rosholt since getting released from the UFC late last year. He submitted Rudy Lindsey in March. The 7-2 Team Takedown member was released after going 2-2 in the UFC/WEC.

Steve Armstrong’s night was nearly over. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation referee had just presided over the Shark Fights 13 co-main event, and now he was waiting to do his last pre-fight check over main event participant Keith Jardine.

Armstrong waited in the aisle of the Amarillo Civic Center as Jardine threw his arms up for the cheering crowd and approached him. As they intersected, Armstrong stopped Jardine with his right hand in order to begin his mandatory check. In a flash, Jardine pushed Armstrong’s hand away and then stared at the veteran referee for a beat before shoving him backwards.

That quick exchange, which took just 2.5 seconds in real time, landed Jardine an indefinite suspension at the hands of the state’s athletic sanctioning body, TDLR. In an interview with MMA Fighting, Armstrong explained how the incident took place and his thoughts on the actions that landed the MMA veteran in hot water.

When Keith Jardine lost his Shark Fights debut against Trevor Prangley last weekend, effectively racking up his fifth straight loss, it didn’t seem like things could get much worse for the struggling former UFC light heavyweight.

It appears it did.

Jardine has been suspended indefinitely pending a disciplinary hearing for allegedly shoving a Texas Combative Sports Program official prior to his main event fight Saturday night.

Falling Action: Best and Worst of the Weekend That Was

It may have been a weekend devoid of big time MMA, but there was still plenty of fight action of all stripes on the airwaves this past Friday and Saturday. Between an eight-man tournament, a promise to finish in exciting fashion, and some outrageous color commentary, we have no shortage of things to talk about on Monday morning.

What do you say we comb through the wreckage and see who the big winners and losers are after this eventful weekend in MMA?

Biggest Winner: Drew Fickett
Winning the Shine Fights lightweight grand prix may not be the triumph of a lifetime for most fighters, but after the hard times Fickett has fallen on/brought upon himself, it’s at least a break in the clouds. He beat three professional fighters in one night, all by first-round submission. Even if one of them was the eminently submittable Charles Bennett, it’s still impressive. Then again, the issue with Fickett has never been a lack of talent. Hopefully he’s had enough self-destruction by now and can use his big night as a springboard to something greater. Might be time to send a tape of his tournament win to Strikeforce, along with an assurance that he’s not under contract anywhere else this time.
