Dustin Poirier continues to net big earnings for The Good Fight foundation.

Poirier suffered a third-round submission defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 earlier this month.

After the fight, the pair exchanged shirts with Nurmagomedov revealing he would auction Poirier’s shirt on his own, with the proceeds going to The Good Fight foundation. “The Eagle” managed to auction off Poirier’s shirt for $100,000 in the end.

“It’s great because it’s going to help a lot of people,” Poirier said at the time. “I’m proud of that. I appreciate them helping out the charity. It’s been growing and I’m very grateful for that.”

And now, “The Diamond” has earned $60,000 after auctioning Nurmagomedov’s shirt on eBay. With UFC president Dana White offering to match whatever Nurmagomedov made, The Good Fight foundation has more than exceeded its initial goal of $25,000.

According to Poirier, all of these funds will go into helping build water wells to repair a ruined water supply at an orphanage and school in Uganda.

And so, while there was disappointment in not winning the undisputed UFC lightweight title, Poirier can take consolation from all the help he’s provided for his foundation. And he has no plans on stopping fighting anytime soon either.

What do you think of the gesture?

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is targeting an early 2020 return to Octagon action.

According to a Russian media outlet (via Aaron Bronsteter on Twitter), Nurmagomedov wants a February or March return in 2020. He also mentioned in a recent interview that he’d like to fight in St Petersburg, Russia for his next fight at the Gazprom Arena, which holds 75,000.

Nurmagomedov said he’s “80 percent sure” his next fight will take place in Russia. Currently, Tony Ferguson has emerged as the undisputed next contender for the 155-pound title. Unfortunately, the matchup between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson has been made several times in the past, only for it to fall through each and every time due to injury.

Ferguson is riding a 12-fight win streak, with his most recent victory coming over Donald Cerrone by way of Doctor Stoppage. As for Nurmagomedov, he successfully defended his lightweight title over Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi at UFC 242. “The Eagle” submitted Poirier in the third round with a rear-naked choke.

Now, MMA fans hold out hope that the UFC can book a fight between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson next, and that both men remain healthy enough to make the walk.

What do you make of Nurmagomedov wanting to return in February or March of next year?

Khabib Nurmagomedov is coming off of a third-round submission win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 to defend his lightweight title. The fight was like home fight for the Muslim champion as he fought in Abu Dhabi.

Yet, Khabib Nurmagomedov wants a real home fight in his next one. And, he says there is a good chance his next fight will be in his home country of Russia.

“Negotiations are continuing with the UFC. I really want to fight in Russia,” Khabib told Russia’s Channel 1. “In St. Petersburg there’s a closed arena [Gazprom Arena]. In Moscow, Luzhniki Stadium is open… I was there at the [football] World Cup final when it rained, if that kind of rain happened it would ruin an [MMA] event. In St. Petersburg the stadium seats 75,000 people, I could fight there. In a small arena it wouldn’t work.

“I really want to fight here, talks are continuing, I’m about 80 percent sure my next fight will be in Russia,” Nurmagomedov concluded.

Whether or not the UFC makes that happen is to be seen. Tony Ferguson wants that fight to happen in Vegas in December, yet Nurmagomedov has said he will never fight there again after the UFC 229 suspension.

If he does indeed fight in Russia it would be a massive event for the country. But, whether or not the UFC will host a pay-per-view in Russia is another question mark.

Do you think Khabib Nurmagomedov’s next fight will be in Russia?

Could fans be in store for one more huge title fight before the end of the year? Tony Ferguson is definitely hoping so.

On Monday, “El Cucuy” called out Khabib Nurmagomedov for a lightweight title fight to take place at UFC 245. That event is the promotion’s end-of-year show and takes place in Las Vegas on December 14.

“Pretty Sure We Can Make Some Room For Good Ol’Fathead @TeamKhabib # TeamTiramisuTakeover @ufc @danawhite Make It Happen #DefendorVacate #Accepted @BallengeeGroup Dec 14 -Champ Shit Only™” Ferguson tweeted while posting a picture of his past opponents that he had bloodied up.

Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson is a fight the mixed martial arts world has been hoping to see for many years now. It has been booked four times so far, but was called off on each occasion due to injuries. The most recent case was at UFC 223 in April last year where Ferguson got injured a week before the fight.

If booked for UFC 245, it would be the third title fight on the card and likely serve as the main event. Other title bouts booked are Max Holloway vs. Alexander Volkanovski and Amanda Nunes vs. Germaine de Randamie.

Hopefully, the fifth time is a charm.
