There are highlight reel KOs and then there are soul-stealing, devastating, Mortal Kombat-fatality level KOs. Diego Nunes‘ victory at Superior Challenge 11 over famed Scandinavian fighter Joachim Hansen is the latter.

Few knockouts deserve the “BAW GAWD, HE KILLED HIM!” more than this one. Hansen hasn’t been doing great lately. He’s 1-3 over the last four years and hasn’t beaten a significant opponent since a TKO win over Shinya Aoki in 2008. To put that into its proper historic context, the fight took place in DREAM. That’s how long it’s been since Hansen was a factor in the global top-echelon lightweight discussion. His record now stands at 23-13-1.

With the knockout, Nunes breaks a 3-fight losing streak, bringing his record to 19-6.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to barter for some Bloody Elbow merch.

This knockout from an unidentified and undated muay thai event video is as nasty as any we’ve seen.

This knockout from an unidentified and undated muay thai event video is as nasty as any we’ve seen. The perfectly executed straight right, shin to the face combo renders the victim unconscious and makes him look like he suffers from cerebral palsy or epilepsy.

Damn, son! You got knocked the fuck out!

Video of the Day: Rap Battle Ends in KO

(Video courtesy of YouTube/1stYoshi)

When I was a kid I used to dream about settling all of my conflicts Bruce Lee-style by knocking fools out with backfists and spinning roundhouses.

Now, there’s a pretty good chance that the video above is fake, considering the kick doesn’t seem to connect, but if it isn’t it’s one of the best incidences of poetic justice we’ve ever seen.

Dude insults rap battle opponent and gets shoved and called out by the poor sport before demonstrating some Ong Bak-esque Taekwondo on his ass. Cue walk-off KO.

If anyone ever pulls off a breakdance/capoeira move like this in a televised UFC fight, the sport will instantly become a mainstream success thanks to the plethora of inevitable highlight-reel replays on shows like Sportscenter. Until then, we’ll just have to show our non-MMA watching friends highlights of Brian Ebersole, Marius Zaromskis and Marcus Aurelio KOs in the hopes that they’ll quit asking us when Kimbo is fighting next.

KO of the Day: Raymond Daniels Spinning Wheel Kicks Some Poor Dude’s Head Into the Fourth Row

Former undefeated World Combat League fighter and K1 standout Raymond Daniels, who lost his one and only MMA bout under the Strikeforce banner back in 2008 was back in action this weekend at K1: Pain and Glory in Dublin and luckily for us the dramatic finish to his brief bout was caught on tape by our friends at FightIreland.com.

As you can see in the GIF above, Daniels nearly took his unnamed opponent’s head off with a vicious well-timed spinning wheel kick that prompted immediate referee intervention.

Check out the video of the KO and Daniel’s highlight reel after the jump.

Lethbridge lightweight Derek Boyle (7-4) decided to wow the hometown  crowd with this perfectly-timed flying knee that put opponent Alex Popov (3-2) to sleep at just 2:36 of the opening round of their Rage Fighting Series RITR lightweight title bout.

No word on whether or not Popov is able to eat solid foods yet.
