In the main event of the night, Yair Rodriguez pulled off a thrilling last-second knockout win over “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. Over the weekend (Sat. November 10, 2018) Yair Rodriguez put on one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history.

Rodriguez main evented UFC Denver opposite “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. The two men went all five rounds and decided to slug it out in the final seconds. In the middle of their final exchange, Rodriguez landed an awkward elbow that caught Jung on the chin.

“The Korean Zombie” was rendered unconscious, and Rodriguez picked up the victory despite being behind on the judges’ scorecards. It was a massive win for “El Pantera,” and a great way to close out the UFC’s 25th Anniversary show.

Recently, Rodriguez joined “Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show” to discuss his victory. During the interview, Rodriguez revealed that he actually learned the elbow backstage after seeing Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone practicing it:

“It’s something that I saw Cowboy doing in the back and I started practicing.”

Cerrone went on just before Rodriguez’s fight. He submitted Mike Perry in the first round, as he and Perry co-main evented UFC Denver. With the victory, Rodriguez’s MMA record advances to 10-2. In his outing before Denver, he lost to Frankie Edgar via TKO, as the fight was stopped in between rounds.

Fresh off a hard-fought victory, it looks like Rodriguez already has a challenger waiting for him.

Joe Rogan has seen some spectacular knockouts in his day.

However, upon witnessing Yair Rodriguez’s finishing of “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung on Saturday night (November 10, 2018), Rogan was left in awe. Rogan and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub were watching UFC Denver live for Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

During the fight companion, Rogan and Schaub got to react live to Rodriguez’s finish over Jung. Both Rodriguez and Jung put on an excellent back-and-forth brawl that lasted into the fifth round. In the closing seconds, the two decided to exchange bombs.

During an exchange, Rodriguez landed a no-look elbow to Jung’s chin, which rendered “The Korean Zombie” unconscious. It is one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history, and, arguably, the greatest elbow knockout in UFC history. Once the knockout happened, Rogan screamed before repeatedly saying “Oh my god!”

Schaub was just as impressed, as both men’s eyes were glued to the screen, wide-eyed at what they had just witnessed. Check out Rogan and Schaub’s reactions to Rodriguez’s knockout in Denver here below. Their reaction can be found at the 3:08:17 marker of the video:

UFC Fight Night 139 took place last night (Sat., November 10, 2018) from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The event was full of insane action, and it’s time to see who made major money in the UFC Denver bonuses.

The card was the UFC’s 25th-anniversary event. The UFC debuted at McNichols Arena in Denver on a fateful November day back in 1993. That put huge pressure on UFC Denver to deliver something special. It did not fail to live up to those lofty expectations. In fact, it exceeded them.

The event’s highlights were obviously lead by Yair Rodriguez’s amazing last-second knockout of Chan Sung Jung in the main event (watch it here) that is definitely an instant classic. For their efforts in what may be 2018’s “Fight of the Year,” Rodriguez and Jung justifiably took home $50,000 apiece for the card’s “Fight of the Night.”

‘El Pantera’ also earned another $50,000 for a well-deserved ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus. The other ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses went to hometown fan favorite Donald Cerrone, who set the UFC record for wins and finishes with a first-round armbar victory over Mike Perry.

Last night (Sat. November 10, 2018) the UFC was in Denver, Colorado from the Pepsi Center for UFC Fight Night 139.

For those who had any doubt as to why the UFC and its President Dana White booked the certain main even they did, there’s a reason why. Yair Rodriguez vs. Chan Sung Jung in a featherweight bout was a wild fight that nearly went the distance. It had everything from some wild exchanges, to hurt fighters and crazy scrambles.

The fanbase not only inside of the arena but online watching at home was glued into this fight. At the end of the day, the #15 ranked star Rodriguez was able to pull out an insane win.

This was over the always tough Jung, who was ranked #10 in the division coming into this fight. Rodriguez sleeps Zombie in the closing seconds with an elbow. This is how the fight ended at the buzzard of the fifth and final round.

Some people thought that Donald Cerrone vs. Mike Perry in a welterweight bout should’ve been the headliner. Although Cerrone and Perry put on a pretty good fight, the UFC made the right call with this bout selection. Check out how the mixed martial arts (MMA) community reacted to this finish on Twitter here:
