Former The Ultimate Fighter competitor Kyle Noke is hoping that he can bring his UFC career full circle by putting his name in the hat to become a coach on the new international season of the reality show, which pits his native Australia against Canada.

Noke, who was one of the first fighters to come to prominence out of Australia, has been nursing a wrist injury after having surgery just weeks ago, but he’s already targeting his next mission in the UFC.

While he missed out on the first season of the international reality show while fellow countryman George Sotiropoulos took on Ross Pearson, Noke is ready for the challenge in the next version.

“That’s something that I definitely want to do, and I think me versus probably Patrick Cote would be the most logical choice for the coaching job,” Noke told MMA‘s Great Debate Radio recently.  “I’d love to fight him, I’d love to see it.  I know he’s been tweeting about it and would love the job also.  So we both want the job, let’s get in there and do it.

“He’s another big guy, he just came down a weight division.  I think that would be a great fight, and it would be a great show to have me versus him.”

Cote also told Bleacher Report recently, after inking a new multi-fight deal with the UFC, that a job coaching Team Canada on the The Ultimate Fighter would be a dream come true.  Just like Noke, Cote is a former contestant on the reality show and has plenty of real world UFC experience to pass on to the next crop of Octagon hopefuls.

For his part more than anything, Noke just wants to be a part of the show so he can continue to help drive the sport of MMA in his native country.  While he trains primarily in New Mexico now as part of Team Greg Jackson, Noke still travels home whenever he can to help fighters in Australia as well.

He believes being on the The Ultimate Fighter would be a great showcase to take the sport to the next level, and he wants to be a part of it.

“It would mean a lot to me.  I’d love to have the opportunity to coach the young Australians, and help them pursue their dreams and it would mean the world to me,” Noke stated.  “It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, and I’d be happy.”

Noke thinks that Cote is the natural choice as an opponent and as a fellow coach on the reality show, but no matter who he’d be matched up with, he wants in as the head of Team Australia.

If it’s Cote or another Canadian, it really doesn’t matter much to Noke.  He just wants to be a part of this season and represent Australia like he’s been doing since day one when he first stepped on the mats.

“I think it would be the best option for both of us.  Either way I don’t care who it is,” Noke stated.   “I want the job and I’m prepared to fight anyone for it.  For me, Patrick would probably be the best opposing coach.”

Charlie Brenneman: Welterweight Would Have Preferred to Fight at UFC 151

UFC 151 will go down in history as being the first event under the Zuffa umbrella that was cancelled. It was cancelled due to Dan Henderson, who was scheduled to square off against Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship suffered a partially torn MCL in training.

Then former middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen was offered the fight against Jones. Sonnen accepted the fight, but when Jones was presented the fight, he declined. After Jones decided to turn down the fight, the UFC cancelled the card.

A lot of the fans were very upset at the cancellation, and that included a lot of the fighters that were supposed to fight on the card. Some fighters on the card have had their fights pushed back to far as December. Charlie Brenneman was one of the fortunate guys who didn’t have to wait to long to get back into octagon.

The welterweight returns three weeks later than originally anticipated as he will face Kyle Noke on the preliminary portion of the card this Saturday at UFC 152. The Brenneman vs. Noke fight can be seen on Facebook, starting at 6:30 PM ET.

It didn’t take Brenneman too long to figure something was up when he received a few curious messages.

“I was working out that morning at nine and then at noon,” Brenneman told Bleacher Report. “I got done with the noon workout and was getting ready to eat my meal. I saw that I had a couple missed calls, which is never good. One was from my brother and the other one was from my manager. Then I received a weird text and I put two and two together. I found out about an hour after everyone else did.”

Brenneman was in complete shock and utter disbelief at first, but after thinking about everything, he knew everything would be okay.

“My immediate reaction was disbelief,” Brenneman stated. “I couldn’t believe it. Then almost immediately, I thought myself, ‘crazy stuff has happened before and this is another step in the journey,'” Brenneman said.

“I was surprised on one hand, but at the same time I immediately thought, ‘I can sort of believe this happened,'” Brenneman said. “I just had to stay even keeled and realize one way or another, this is going to work itself out.”

Fighters across the board have said if they were in Jones’ exact situation, they would have taken the fight regardless of who the opponent was. You can add Brenneman to the list.

“I would have completely, hands down, one million percent said I would have accepted the fight,” Brenneman said. “I mean, you’re the best. If the rules were reversed and Jones was on his honeymoon and they (UFC) wanted him to defend his belt and he wasn’t training, then yea that would have completely made sense (in turning down the fight).”

Some people have said they have lost respect for Jones, but Brenneman isn’t one of them. He just doesn’t respect the decision the champion made.

“I have respect for a lot of people,” Brenneman said. “Those people have done good things and bad things. It balances itself out that way. I can’t say I don’t respect Jon Jones because he is the best in our industry. I just don’t respect his decision (of not fighting Sonnen).”

The fans only see the fighters when they are in the cage, making personal appearances, etc. They don’t see the blood, sweat and tears that go into preparation for a fight. Brenneman is grateful to be fighting so soon after the cancellation of UFC 151, but personally he would have preferred to fight three weeks ago.

“Fight wise, I’m of the lucky ones because I’m fighting Saturday,” Brenneman said. “To be honest, this gave me a full eight week (training camp), which is a typical camp for me. I would have had only about four and a half weeks to train for UFC 151. It may help me in that aspect, but I would have preferred to fight at UFC 151. I felt as great as I ever had.”

“From a personal standpoint, people don’t realize that this is my life. I had plans for September 1. The money I was going to make, I had to completely abort because of what happened and now fighting four weeks later.”

Ed Herman Puts the Past Behind Him and Is Ready to Shock the World

When you go through adversity in life, it’s how you bounce back that shows how strong you are. Ed Herman has shown how strong he is inside and outside the cage.

Herman suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in his fight with Aaron Simpson at UFC 102 in 2009. As he was preparing for his comeback, Herman tore the same ACL again in 2010.

After not competing for almost two years, Herman returned at TUF 13 finale last June, as he stopped Tim Credeur in 48 seconds. Herman since then has rattled off two more victories as he submitted Kyle Noke and Clifford Starks.

Herman now enters quite possibly the biggest fight of his career as he squares off against former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Jake Shields tonight at UFC 150. The “Short Fuse” feels the injuries gave him that something that was lacking in his career.

“I don’t ever want to say an injury is a good thing,” Herman told Bleacher Report. “I think (the injury) gave me that fire after I thought my career was possibly over. I didn’t want my career to be done yet. It gave me that motivation to take this opportunity and make the most of this second chance in my career. My mental approach has changed in just trying to enjoy this time while I’m here and take advantage of everything I can.”

After he defeated Clifford Starks at UFC 143, Herman told the UFC he wanted to fight a top-ten fighter and the UFC gave him that in Shields.

“It’s a great matchup,” Herman stated. “Jake’s a top-ten guy in the welterweight division, but I feel that also translates into the middleweight division. I was excited when the UFC told me about the fight and I jumped on the chance.”

Shields is returning to middleweight after posting a modest 2-2 record in the welterweight division after leaving Strikeforce and entering the UFC. Herman feels Shields is a better fighter at middleweight and plans on ruining Shields’ return to the division.

“He has fought better at middleweight,” Herman stated. “His most successful fights have been at this weight class. I plan on shocking the world and surprising Jake Shields by finishing him.”
