Leon Edwards knows he and Tyron Woodley will fight eventually.

The two were expected to headline UFC London, yet the entire event was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns. The promotion also postponed the next three events.

Following the postponement of the event, Edwards took to social media to let Woodley know the two will still fight very soon. He also hopes it will take place in London.

“Hopefully back in London,” Edwards said when a fan asked if the fight will happen on a later date.

“Tell that boy he can’t run from em his a** whooping is just delayed,” Edwards added when it was revealed the event was postponed.

While Edwards withdrew, Woodley was campaigning for a scrap with Colby Covington. “Chaos” was interested too, leaving many hoping the UFC will make that fight next. But, Edwards makes it clear him vs. Woodley is the fight to make.

“This fight is going to happen after we get back to normal programming don’t try to run now kid, f**k Covington the weasel,” Edwards wrote.

Leon Edwards vs. Tyron Woodley was a very interesting fight where the Englishman was the betting favorite. It also made sense in terms of rankings as the winner was expected to be next in line for the title assuming the UFC booked Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal.

Edwards is currently on an eight-fight winning streak and hasn’t lost since 2015 when he dropped a decision to Kamaru Usman. Last time out, he defeated Rafael dos Anjos by decision in what was his biggest win to date.

Tyron Woodley, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since he lost his title to Usman at UFC 235 last March. Before that, he defeated Darren Till to defend his welterweight title.

Whether or not the UFC will re-book Edwards vs. Woodley once everything is back to normal is to be seen.

UFC welterweight Gilbert Burns continues to show that he truly is ready to fight any time, any place.

Burns defeated Demian Maia via first-round TKO in the co-main event of UFC Brasilia last night. It hasn’t been 24 hours since and the Brazilian is already offering to step in and fight against Tyron Woodley next weekend.

Woodley was originally scheduled to take on Leon Edwards in the UFC London headliner. However, the fight had to be relocated to the United States due to restrictions stemming from the coronavirus outbreak.

That unfortunately meant Edwards would not be able to make it as their fight was eventually scrapped. Burns, however, is willing to save the event.

“Come on @danawhite I said yesterday I’m saying again I fight Woodley Saturday! Put me in WOODLEY X BURNS! ?? @seanshelby @AliAbdelaziz00 @ufc @UFCBrasil #AAA”

As things stand, Woodley’s involvement in the card is still to be decided. If the event goes on, the UFC also have to determine a new city.

“Woodley’s involvement on the card in the yet-to-be determined city is still TBD,” ESPN’s Ariel Helwani tweeted. “They have begun talking about replacement options but still haven’t finalized where this card is happening yet and he hasn’t agreed to a new foe. They are still hell-bent on going through with it.”

If Woodley is open to facing Burns, we might just have an event taking place next week.

What do you make of Burns offering to step in?

British welterweight Leon Edwards insists he and Jorge Masvidal will meet somewhere down the line and says he is looking forward to putting a beating on the BMF title holder.

The two top contenders infamously clashed after UFC London in March 2019. Both fighters had emerged victorious in their respective bouts and anticipation for a fight between the two winners quickly gathered pace backstage.

After Edwards told Madvidal “I’ll see you in July”, the American immediately approached ‘Rocky’ and began throwing punches or a “three piece and a soda” as ‘Gamebred’ called it afterwards.

Despite being a bad look for both fighters and the sport as a whole the post-fight scuffle at UFC London made a potential fight between the pair bigger than ever but for some reason it just didn’t happen.

Edwards went on to fight and beat former lightweight
champion Rafael Dos Anjos over five rounds at UFC San Antonio a few months later.
Masvidal built on his win over Till by stopping Ben Askren and Nate Diaz to
complete his perfect 2019.

Speaking to BT Sport ahead of his UFC London main event agaisnt Tyron Woodley next weekend, Edwards admitted he is surprised a fight between him and Masvidal still hasnt been made. However, he believes the fight is inevitable, as is the beating he will put on the Cuban American fighter.

“Yeah for sure. After what happened backstage,
I thought the fight would have got made straight away really. It’s weird to see
how stuff has played out. We’ve both gone two separate ways in our careers. I
feel that fight will happen down the line. It probably would be better
happening this year for a world title or challenging for a world title. His day
will come, and I’ll look forward to putting a beating on him”

UFC London takes place later this month, and if you’re not hyped for it, a new trailer featuring Leon Edwards will certainly help do the job.

Edwards meets former champion Tyron Woodley in the headliner of UFC London on March 21. “Rocky” is on an eight-fight winning streak and is coming off wins over Donald Cerrone, Gunnar Nelson and most recently, Rafael dos Anjos.

A win against Woodley would arguably be the biggest of the Briton’s career and according to him, guarantees him the next shot at Kamaru Usman’s welterweight title.

“If I fight in March and he (Usman) is still injured, he’s still free before summer I think I’ll be the next in line,” Edwards said. “That’s how its written in my contract, I’m next in line.  It depends if he’s fighting before, in April or May they might make that fight happen (against Jorge Masvidal), but if not it’ll 100% be me for the summer time.”

UFC London will also be his first main event in the UFC and BT Sport recently released a trailer highlighting his journey from Jamaica to the United Kingdom.

You can watch it below:

Woodley will be looking to play party pooper, however. “The Chosen One” hasn’t competed since losing his welterweight title to Usman over a year ago at UFC 235.

And given the long inactivity and disrespect he has received in recent months, Woodley plans on making a statement.

Are you looking forward to UFC London? Who do you have in the main event between Edwards and Woodley?
