Jorge Masvidal has capitalized off the hype of his infamous “three-piece with a soda” line after piecing up Leon Edwards backstage at UFC London last month.
“Gamebred” took to Twitter to release the official t-shirt based off the quote. Check it out here:
Masvidal defeated Darren Till in devastating fashion at UFC London last month (Sat. March 16, 2019). A hellacious hook in the second round shut the Englishman’s lights out in brutal fashion. Now, he will square off with former ONE and Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren. The winner will likely have a claim at an upcoming 170-pound title shot.
That fight goes down at UFC 239 on July 6. However, in the co-main event of UFC London, Edwards continued his climb within the division. A split decision win over Gunnar Nelson advanced him up the welterweight ranks. Backstage, Edwards began to jaw off at Masvidal about a future fight.
Edwards, flanked by his brother and fellow mixed martial artist Fabian, made Masvidal feel threatened, prompting him to hit Edwards with the “three-piece with a soda.” Perhaps Edwards and Masvidal will get to settle their differences at some point down the line.
For now, the former Miami street fighter approaches a much more high-profile fight with “Funky” at International Fight Week.

Earlier this week, Ben Askren offered some life advice for Leon Edwards. Then he set the record straight between himself and Jorge Masvidal. Well, at least according to Askren.
Askren, who now has a victory inside the Octagon (albeit a controversial one), had a very busy day. He trolled Edwards, then went on to tell his side of the altercation between himself and Masvidal at a London hotel. He did all this while appearing on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on ESPN earlier today. (h/t MMAMania.com)”
“Do I feel bad that he got punched in the face? Yeah. I don’t like sucker-punching, Askren said when asked about the Masvidal three-piece and a soda attack on Edwards. I guess I do feel bad for that part. Do I feel bad because he’s not getting the fight? Not at all.”.
“This is what Leon Edwards doesn’t understand; he’s asking, ‘Why is Ben Askren in London?’ It’s like, Leon, do you see all the numbers I am getting on pretty much every social media? Do you see why Ariel has me on every single week? It’s because people, for some reason, and I don’t know
Askren then explained the London hotel altercation. And wouldn’t you know it, he has a vastly different recollection than Ibrahim Kawa and “Gamebred”:
“I’m standing upstairs, then he walks up the stairs. So I say, ‘Hey, Jorge is here.’ And then he gets pissed. It doesn’t take anything to piss these guys off, it’s kind of funny.”
“It doesn’t
“But there was definitely no running away or me wishing him good luck or anything like that. It was a simple exchange and I don’t know why he felt the need to lie about it.”
A tentative agreement is in place for Askren and Masvidal to fight at UFC 239.
