Now that Nate Diaz has avenged his previous loss to Jorge Masvidal, he has other names in mind that he’d like to get wins back on.

Diaz scored a majority decision win over Masvidal in the main event of a boxing card at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, on July 6. This served as a rematch — albeit in another sport — five years from their first encounter at UFC 244. Masvidal won the initial fight by doctor’s stoppage, making him the first-ever BMF champion of the UFC.

Diaz scored the win in the closely contested boxing match with a volume-based attack, despite Masvidal landing the harder and arguably cleaner strikes.

Following the fight, despite Masvidal’s wishes for a trilogy bout and an exchanging of words, Diaz expressed a desire to get back in the ring with Jake Paul and to return to the UFC to face current welterweight champion Leon Edwards.

Nate Diaz Calls Out Jake Paul & Leon Edwards After Avenging Jorge Masvidal Defeat

Diaz doubled down on these thoughts at the post-fight press conference.

“Just off the top of my head, I would like to whip (Paul’s) ass,” Diaz said. “I would like to get a win against Leon Edwards, who’s the best fighter in the world right now at 170 (pounds). I think that’s something major who actually brings something that I can take and put in a credential box. That’s what I’m going for. I’m not playing for no f*cking fun fights, because that sh*t ain’t fun.”

Diaz made his professional boxing debut against Paul last year. “The Problem Child” dealt some big damage to Diaz in the opening rounds before going on to win a decision.

Paul called Diaz out on social media after the fight, claiming that the Stockton native has been ducking him despite the callout. As he noted on X/Twitter this weekend, Paul has previously offered Diaz upwards of $15 million for a rematch in the PFL MMA cage, not in the boxing ring.

In his second-to-last UFC fight, Diaz dropped a decision to Edwards at UFC 263.

Nate Diaz plans to avenge 2021 loss to Leon Edwards next

Issuing a slew of callouts following his win over Masvidal, which avenged a 2019 loss to the former during their tenure with the UFC, Diaz has sights fixed on another rematch, chasing a title re-run with current welterweight champion, Edwards in a return to the Octagon.

“It was just off the top of my head,” Nate Diaz told assembled media after his win against Jorge Masvidal. “I would like to whoop (Jake Paul’s) ass. I would like to get a win against Leon Edwards, who is the best fighter in the world right now at 170 [pounds].”

“And I think that’s something that I can take and put in a credential box,” Nate Diaz explained. “That’s what I’m going for. I’m not trying to go for any fun fights because that sh*t ain’t fun.”

Returning to combat sports this weekend in a rematch against fellow UFC alum, Nate Diaz, former title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has staked his claim once more for a grudge fight with current welterweight champion, Leon Edwards upon his planned Octagon return.

Masvidal, the inaugural symbolic BMF champion under the banner of the UFC and a former two-time welterweight title challenger, is slated to make his return to combat sports tomorrow in Anaheim, taking on the above-mentioned, Diaz in a professional boxing rematch.

First fighting the Stockton native back in 2019, Masvidal landed the inaugural BMF crown with a third round doctor’s stoppage win over Diaz, after opening a significant laceration on his right eyebrow in their Madison Square Garden headliner.

The victory came as part of an impressive run of victories over Ben Askren, and prior to that, Darren Till in a trip to London for another main event clash.

And backstage on that ‘Fight Night’ billed event, Masvidal was involved in a now-infamous physical altercation with the previously mentioned, Edwards – with the duo failing to ever settle their differences.

Seeing a UFC 269 grudge match with the Birmingham native failing to materialize amid an injury setback, Masvidal has now staked his claim for a reworked fight with Edwards in an expected return to the promotion – and notably, hopes a title is involved in the clash.

“It’s lacking something, man,” Jorge Masvidal said of the UFC welterweight division during an interview with Michael Bisping. “That something is your boy right here. Being in tip-top shape, being violent and putting on some f*cking great fights. Just give them to me, man. I’m gonna eat these motherf*ckers up like tacos, just put them in front of me and I’ll lay some people out. I don’t see nothing that I couldn’t take on.”

“I would love to fight Leon (Edwards),” Jorge Masvidal continued. “Hopefully he still has the belt when I come back around [to the UFC], let’s see what happens, man.”

Before looking ahead to his next official booking, UFC welterweight contender Ian Garry has his sights set on a different kind of assignment in Manchester later this month.

Garry is just days on from his latest victory inside the Octagon, as the Irishman extended his perfect professional record to 15-0 with an eighth triumph since arriving on mixed martial arts’ biggest stage in 2021.

The result came at the expense of former Bellator standout Michael “Venom” Page, who was narrowly outpointed by “The Future” in the main card opener of this past weekend’s UFC 303 pay-per-view event.

In the aftermath, Garry has mentioned names such as former champion Kamaru Usman and the highly regarded Shavkat Rakhmonov as potential next opponents en route to the welterweight gold.

But the Dubliner is also seemingly planning to make the most of the possibility — however slim — that he could compete with gold on the line in just a few weeks’ time…

Garry Says He’s Offered To Be Backup Fighter For UFC 304 Main Event

During a backstage interview with Caroline Pearce for TNT Sports post-fight, Garry reflected on his success inside Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, assessed his next steps, and looked ahead to his division’s upcoming title joust.

In one of two championship contests set for the promotion’s return to Manchester, England, for UFC 304 on July 27, Leon Edwards will run it back with Belal Muhammad in defense of his 170-pound belt.

Garry is keen to weigh in as the backup fighter for the headliner, especially after seeing the number of matchups that fell through on the UFC 303 card and the same-day opportunity that arrived at Dan Ige’s doorstep.

“I told the UFC two months ago, ‘When I win at UFC 303, I want to be the backup (at UFC 304).’ I want to be there just in case anything happens,” Garry said. “Look at this fight card (UFC 303), look at how many fights fell through. Dan Ige stepped in today! You know what I mean? Anything can happen, and I wanna be there just in case.

“Whether it’s Leon, whether it’s Belal; whoever it is. I respect both of those guys’ skillset and talent. I’m aware how good they are,” Garry continued. “But I know I can go out there against any man on the planet and get my hand raised. So for me, I’m gonna be there (in Manchester). I’ve offered to UFC, Hunter (Campbell), and Dana (White), I will be the guy to stand in and make sure that there is gonna be a welterweight world title fight if anyone pulls out. So for me, that’s next.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Garry will indeed appear on the scales a day out from UFC 304.

But having experienced a tumultuous month of late-notice cancellations, perhaps the promotion will take “The Future” up on his offer to ensure the UK fans inside the newly built Co-op Live have a welterweight title fight guaranteed.

Joe Rogan recalls the time he saved a nightclub bouncer from getting KO'd by UFC champ Leon Edwards

Joe Rogan saved a nightclub guard from getting his ass handed to him by the welterweight world champion.

During a recent episode of his JRE Fight Companion podcast, the longtime UFC commentator recalled back to a 2021 incident when he had to intervene and stop a bouncer from making “the biggest mistake” of his life. After hosting ‘Rocky’ on his show, Rogan went out to a club with Edwards and comedian Dave Chappelle.

Leon Edwards

As their evening came to a close a security guard became overly aggressive toward Edwards, seemingly unaware that he was attempting to push around one of the best fighters on the planet.

Recognizing the potential disaster about to unfold, Rogan stepped in and informed the guard of the mistake he was about to make.

“I brought Leon to a show,” Rogan recounted. “Me and him were hanging out then afterwards we all went out to this club. There was this dude, but he was a bodyguard and he talked shit to Leon Edwards. It was at the end of the night and this guy decided he was going to kick everybody out. For some reason, he singled out Leon and he got in his face and said something like, ‘Hey man, I f*cking told you it’s time to leave.’

“And then I got in between and said, ‘I know you’ve probably made some f*cked up mistakes in your life, but you’re about to make the biggest one.’ I go, ‘That’s one of the baddest motherf*ckers on the planet and you’re about to make one of the biggest mistakes of your life’ and he’s like, ‘I’m sorry.’

Leon Edwards goes for his third successful title defense at uFC 304 in Manchester

After scoring his second-straight defense of the welterweight title against an undeserving Colby Covington at UFC 296 in December, ‘Rocky’ will return to the Octagon on July 27 for a clash with the division’s top-ranked contender, Belal Muhammad. The pair will headline UFC 304 when the promotion heads back to Manchester.

Leon Edwards vs. Belal

The fight will serve as a rematch between the two after their first meeting in March 2021 ended in a no-contest after Edwards inadvertently poked Muhammad in the eye, bringing a stop to the fight 18 seconds into the second round.

Belal

‘Remember The Name’ is currently sitting on a nine-fight win streak dating back to April 2019. His last four victories have come against Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, Vicente Luque, Sean Brady, and Gilbert Burns — all top 15 opponents in the 185-pound division.

Belal Muhammad vows to knock out Leon Edwards at UFC 304: 'Right now, I'm the best version of myself'

Belal Muhammad believes Leon Edwards is in for a rude awakening at UFC 304 in Manchester, England.

Muhammad is set to challenge Edwards for his welterweight title in July. Going into the fight, Muhammad is the betting underdog, and it is a very intriguing fight. Despite being the underdog, Muhammad has confidence he won’t just beat Edwards but will KO him.

“Honestly, I think I go in there and knock him out,” Muhammad said to Sneako (via MMANews). “When I look at my last stylistic matchups… I fought the best striker in the UFC in ‘Wonderboy’ [Stephen Thompson]. I fought the best grappler in the UFC, Demian Maia. I fought great finishers in Vicente Luque; I fought Gilbert Burns on three weeks’ notice. I think all those fights added up to this one fight like I said, god’s plan.

Belal Muhammad

“I think right now, I’m the best version of myself. And I think that Leon’s gonna get in there, him and his team there in Manchester, they’re gonna be surprised, they’re gonna be in a rude awakening. People will say whatever they wanna say but my last full camp I knocked out Sean Brady, Gilbert Burns fight was a three weeks’ notice fight. So we’re going out on my last full camp, and it was a knockout. This fight, I’m gonna knock out Leon Edwards,” Muhammad added.

If Muhammad does finish Edwards at UFC 304 it would be a statement win. But, doing so is easier said than done, as Muhammad only has five wins by knockout in his career while Edwards has never been finished in his entire MMA career.
